The dependence of the final macrogeometry and microgeometry of the machined hole surface on the surface quality of the blank in broaching is investigated by simulation.

Static and dynamic processes that involve frictional forces are experimentally studied. The frictional forces affect the stress of the fuel assembly in all stages of the life cycle.     

Design principles for elastic elements of vibrational supports

A three-dimensional system performing oscillations according to the conical-pendulum law is considered. A means of calculating elastic elements that will ensure stable oscillations of the system is proposed.     

Collagen scaffolds for orthopedic regenerative medicine

Collagen and collagen-based scaffolds offer distinct advantages when selected as biomaterials for use across a broad spectrum of regenerative medicine applications. However, relatively poor mechanical properties are often perceived to limit their usefulness for orthopedic applications. These problems can be overcome through enhanced crosslinking mechanisms or through the addition of a second, stiffer phase such as hydroxyapatite, thus allowing tailored composite scaffolds to meet specific tissue requirements. This overview will highlight the current state of the art of these scaffolds, and consider the exciting prospects and future directions of collagen-based technologies for orthopedic regenerative medicine.     

Formation of palladium nanoparticles under pulse current in a dimethylformamide solution

The morphology of palladium deposited by pulse electrolysis from dimethylformamide solutions of PdCl₂ on the surface of graphite and ITO glass was studied. The effect of the value of cathode potential and electrolysis duration on the sizes of particles and their distribution in the substrate was investigated. It was shown that, on the substrate surface, deposits with particle sizes of 30–350 nm are formed.     

The use of high performance liquid chromatography to authenticate water-ethanol extracts

High performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) is used to study and identify the organic substances that result from the sorption-desorption processes occurring on the surface and in the near-surface layers of oak timber in contact with water-ethanol extracts (WEEs). The work is supplemented by a study of the antioxidant activities of WEEs, which was carried out using an amperometric detector. It is found that the antioxidant activity and the content of vanillin and syringaldehyde are usually higher for natural aged WEEs.     

A generator of electrical discharges in water

A semiconductor high-voltage pulse generator for the electric-discharge water purification is described. It is based on a low-voltage capacitor storage, step-up pulse transformer, and high-voltage output circuit with a recuperation section returning inefficiently used energy to the power source of the capacitor storage.
