The universal bio-optical algorithm of the Coastal Zone Color Scanner (CZCS) for case I waters implicitly contains an average covariance of the absorption by phytoplankton and colored dissolved organic matter (CDOM) and detritus. We made that covariance explicit by combining the CZCS algorithm with an expression for reflectance. In spite of the names and works of practically all the early 19th Century Spanish specialists in urinary tract being widely known, there are still in my opinion several names and writings, either forgotten or misplaced in newspaper libraries, archives and general libraries, awaiting to be discovered. The second half of the 19th Century was a prolific age in every aspect of Spanish life, most particularly literature. In Medicine, apart from the well known professional writings, the number of scientific journals and publications, whether in the form of brochures or divulgative articles, that came to light was countless. Computer management of collections currently under implementation in many registers, will allow their location and the finding of new texts. One of these long forgotten pioneers, is Doctor Alejandro Settier (1858-1915), a Valencian practitioner who describes himself as a "disciple of the Paris hospitals and specialist in genitourinary tract disorders", who practised in Madrid between 1883 and 1890. Surprisingly, and in spite of him being the most prolific author in urological issues during the last century (my investigations show he is the author of 2 books, 3 brochures and 40 articles in journals), neither his name nor his work, as far as we know, are mentioned by none of the historians consulted, which is nothing but highly surprising if we also take into consideration that Alejandro Settier was the founder of the first Spanish monographic journal for urinary disorders: "Gaceta de enfermedades de los órganos génito-urinarios" (Gazette of genitourinary organs disorders), Madrid 1887, which in spite of its short existence, can be considered as the first scientific periodical publication in our specialty. 相似文献

Diabetes therapy management in AAL environments, such as old people and diabetes patients homes, is a very difficult task
since many factors affect a patient’s blood sugar levels. Factors such as illness, treatments, physical and psychological
stress, physical activity, drugs, intravenous fluids and change in the meal plan cause unpredictable and potentially dangerous
fluctuations in blood sugar levels. Right now, operations related to dosage are based on insulin infusion protocol boards,
which are provided by physicians to the patients. These boards are not considering very influential factors such as glycemic
index from the diet, consequently patients need to estimate the dosage leading to dose error, which culminates in hyperglycemia
and hypoglycemia episode. Therefore, right insulin infusion calculation needs to be supported by the next generation of personal-care
devices. For this reason, a personal device has been developed to assist and consider more factors in the insulin therapy
dosage calculation. The proposed solution is based on Internet of things in order to, on the one hand, support a patient’s
profile management architecture based on personal RFID cards and, on the other hand, provide global connectivity between the
developed patient’s personal device based on 6LoWPAN, nurses/physicians desktop application to manage personal health cards,
glycemic index information system, and patient’s web portal. This solution has been evaluated by a multidisciplinary group

This paper presents new a feature transformation technique applied to improve the screening accuracy for the automatic detection of pathological voices. The statistical transformation is based on Hidden Markov Models, obtaining a transformation and classification stage simultaneously and adjusting the parameters of the model with a criterion that minimizes the classification error. The original feature vectors are built up using classic short-term noise parameters and mel-frequency cepstral coefficients. With respect to conventional approaches found in the literature of automatic detection of pathological voices, the proposed feature space transformation technique demonstrates a significant improvement of the performance with no addition of new features to the original input space. In view of the results, it is expected that this technique could provide good results in other areas such as speaker verification and/or identification. 相似文献

The advances in the educational field and the high complexity of student modeling have provoked it to be one of the aspects more investigated in Intelligent Tutoring Systems (ITSs). The Student Models (SMs) should not only represent the student’s knowledge, but rather they should reflect, as faithfully as possible, the student’s reasoning process. To facilitate this goal, in this article a new approach to student modeling is proposed that benefits from the advantages of Ontological Engineering, advancing in the pursue of a more granular and complete knowledge representation. It’s focused, mainly, on the SM cognitive diagnosis process, and we present a method providing a rich diagnosis about the student’s knowledge state – especially, about the state of learning objectives reached or not. The study of behavioral and neurophysiological mechanisms involved in rat spatial cognition provides a basis for the development of computational models and robotic experimentation of goal-oriented learning tasks. These models and robotics architectures offer neurobiologists and neuroethologists alternative platforms to study, analyze and predict spatial cognition based behaviors. In this paper we present a comparative analysis of spatial cognition in rats and robots by contrasting similar goal-oriented tasks in a cyclical maze, where studies in rat spatial cognition are used to develop computational system-level models of hippocampus and striatum integrating kinesthetic and visual information to produce a cognitive map of the environment and drive robot experimentation. During training, Hebbian learning and reinforcement learning, in the form of Actor-Critic architecture, enable robots to learn the optimal route leading to a goal from a designated fixed location in the maze. During testing, robots exploit maximum expectations of reward stored within the previously acquired cognitive map to reach the goal from different starting positions. A detailed discussion of comparative experiments in rats and robots is presented contrasting learning latency while characterizing behavioral procedures during navigation such as errors associated with the selection of a non-optimal route, body rotations, normalized length of the traveled path, and hesitations. Additionally, we present results from evaluating neural activity in rats through detection of the immediate early gene Arc to verify the engagement of hippocampus and striatum in information processing while solving the cyclical maze task, such as robots use our corresponding models of those neural structures. 相似文献
