Densities of the binary systems of 1,1-dimethylethyl methyl ether (MTBE) with ethyl acrylate, butyl acrylate, methyl methacrylate, and styrene have been measured as a function of the composition, at 298.15 K and atmospheric pressure, using an Anton Paar DMA 5000 oscillating U-tube densimeter. The calculated excess volumes were correlated with the Redlich–Kister equation and with a series of Legendre polynomials. The excess volumes are negative for all the systems studied.  相似文献

The toxic effects of new synthetic monodisperse non-ionic long-chain N alpha, N epsilon-diacyl lysine polyoxyethylene glycol amide compounds with a structural resemblance to natural lecithin phospholipids were studied by the haemolytic method and the test of the chorioallantoic membrane of the hen's egg (HET-CAM). The following compounds were tested: symmetrical N alpha,N epsilon-diacyl lysine homologues (N alpha,N epsilon-dihexanoyl, N alpha,N epsilon-dioctanoyl and N alpha,N epsilon-didecanoyl lysine) with one methyl ether polyoxyethylene glycol chain of different oxyethylene units (dioxyethylene glycol, tetraoxyethylene glycol and hexaoxyethylene glycol) as headgroup; symmetrical N alpha,N epsilon-diacyl lysine homologues with two methyl ether dioxyethylene glycol chains and the asymmetrical N alpha-butanoyl, N epsilon-dodecyl lysine with two hydrophilic methyl ether dioxyethylene glycol chains as headgroup. A commercial (polydisperse) oleoyl polyoxyethylene glycol diethanolamide with an average of eight units of ethylene oxide was used as control. All the synthesized tested compounds appeared to be less haemolytic and less irritant than the control. The synthesized products were studied with regard to their hydrophobic and hydrophilic chains in order to evaluate the influence of their structure on their haemolytic and irritative action. The results of this study show that the acyl chain distribution of these compounds greatly influence toxic effects: the asymmetrical compound N alpha-butanoyl,N epsilon-dodecyl lysine-bis[methyl ether diethylene glycol]amide was found to be the most haemolytic and irritating compound. Among the symmetrical homologues, the shortest-chain compounds N alpha,N epsilon-dihexanoyl lysine methyl ether polyoxyethylene glycol amides present the least haemolytic and irritating activity, independently of the number and length of the hydrophilic methyl ether polyoxyethylene glycol chains. Taking into account their surface activity properties and their less haemolytic and irritant action, the compound N alpha,N epsilon-dioctanoyl lysine-bis[methyl ether diethylene glycol]amide would be the most suitable for practical purposes.  相似文献

During crystallization of ice from aqueous solutions, ice crystals exhibit a marked tendency to adhere to the cooled heat exchanger wall resulting in the formation of an insulating ice layer, often referred to as ice scaling. A promising method to avoid ice scaling is the application of a solid-liquid fluidized bed heat exchanger in which fluidized steel particles remove the ice crystals from the walls. This paper presents experiments with a single-tube fluidized bed heat exchanger in which ice crystals were produced from aqueous solutions of various solutes with varying concentrations. The experiments reveal that ice scaling is only prevented when a certain temperature difference between wall and solution is not exceeded. This transition temperature difference appears to increase approximately linearly with the solute concentration and is higher in aqueous solutions with low diffusion coefficients. The observed phenomena are explained by the hypothesis that ice scaling is only prevented when the mass transfer controlled growth rate of ice crystals on the wall does not exceed the scale removal rate induced by the fluidized steel particles. In conclusion, a model based on these physical phenomena is proposed to predict ice scaling in fluidized bed heat exchangers.  相似文献

In order to obtain protein-based amphoteric surfactants with antimicrobial properties, N α -lauroyl arginine dipeptides have been prepared by condensation between N α -lauroyl arginine and amino acids which come from a collagen hydrolysate. Some surfactant properties and the minimum inhibitory concentration against Gram positive and Gram negative bacteria have been evaluated. All types of compounds presented a surfactant-like behavior. Furthermore, the compounds described in this paper may be considered as mild preservative or protective substances.  相似文献

Health care systems share some common features all over Europe both in terms of strengths and weaknesses. Health care reforms have been implemented in Europe to overcome those weaknesses. Contracting as a way of health services provision is an outstanding feature of most reforms. Financing and management changes as a result of contracting are briefly reviewed. Shelf life of probiotic microorganisms can be retained by drying. Spray drying is an economically interesting alternative to freeze drying with that respect. However, the viability can decrease due to the drying process and testing it is laborious and expensive. This research shows that the viability of Lactobacillus plantarum WCFS1 during pilot scale drying can be predicted with kinetics gathered at a single droplet level. Using this approach, it could be demonstrated that the viability of L. plantarum WCFS1 during spray drying is mainly determined by the combination of temperature and moisture content during the first 0.5 seconds after atomization. The combination of a high moisture content and a high temperature appeared most detrimental to the residual viability. Moreover, it was found to be important to take into account the particle size distribution during atomization when predicting viability, since this has a large effect on the moisture content during this first 0.5 seconds. Finally, it was observed that shelf life during storage was mainly determined by the moisture content of the powder. A lower moisture content resulted in a higher viability. Above a moisture content of 6%, shelf life stability rapidly decreased in the applied maltodextrin (DE = 16) matrix.  相似文献
