Barium strontium gadolinium bismuth niobate (Ba0.1Sr0.81Gd0.06Bi2Nb2O9, BSGBN) ceramics were prepared by using the conventional solid-state reaction method. The dielectric permittivity, modulus and impedance spectroscopy studies on BSGBN were investigated in the frequency range, 45 Hz–5 MHz and in the temperature range from room temperature (RT) to 570 °C. The dielectric anomaly with a broad peak was observed at 470 °C. Simultaneous substitution of Ba2+ and Gd3+ increases the transition temperature of SrBi2Nb2O9 (SBN) from 392 to 470 °C. XRD studies in BSGBN revealed an orthorhombic structure with lattice parameters a = 5.4959 Å, b/a = 1.000, c = 25.0954 Å. Impedance and modulus plots were used as tools to analyse the sample behaviour as a function of frequency. Cole-Cole plots showed a non-Debye relaxation. Also, dc and ac conductivity measurements were performed on BSGBN. The electric impedance which describes the dielectric relaxation behaviour is fitted to the Kohlrausch exponential function. Near the phase transition temperature, a stretched exponential parameter β indicating the degree of distribution of the relaxation time has a small value.  相似文献

Fretting fatigue is an adhesive wear mechanism caused by repetitive tangential micro-oscillation between two contacting materials pressed together under cyclic load. Bioimplants, such as hip joints and bone plates, are prone to undergo fretting fatigue failures during their service within the body. This article presents the fretting fatigue damage characterization of physical vapor deposition (PVD) TiN-coated biomedical titanium alloys (Ti-6Al-4V and Ti-6Al-7Nb) subjected to cyclic loads. The PVD TiN layer delayed the damage because of superior tribological properties compared with uncoated alloys. Delamination and abrasive wear damage of TiN at contact caused failure of the alloy. Friction coefficient curves of the PVD TiN-coated pair showed an irregular pattern caused by the influence of wear particulates and Ringer fluid at the contact.  相似文献

Reaction kinetics for the alcoholysis of soybean oil with methanol, ethanol, and isopropanol were evaluated in the absence of catalyst. Metal reactor surfaces catalyzed these reactions, so the reactions were conducted in glass capillary tubes at 120, 150, and 180°C. The reactivity of the alcohols increased with decreasing carbon number. Higher temperatures promoted faster reactions. Higher alcohol stoichiometries did not significantly increase reaction rates; this was attributed to the limited solubility of the alcohol in the soybean oil. At less than 20% conversion, the solubility of the alcohol in the oil phase continuously increased, resulting in increased reaction rates. At approximately 20% conversion, the reaction systems became homogeneous until a glycerine phase was formed at high conversions. In addition to their fundamental value, these data provided a basis on which catalytic reactions can be investigated between 100 and 200°C.  相似文献

Polygodial, a terpenoid dialdehyde isolated from Polygonum hydropiper L., is a known agonist of the transient receptor potential vanilloid 1 (TRPV1). In this investigation a series of polygodial analogues were prepared and investigated for TRPV1‐agonist and anticancer activities. These experiments led to the identification of 9‐epipolygodial, which has antiproliferative potency significantly exceeding that of polygodial. 9‐Epipolygodial was found to maintain potency against apoptosis‐resistant cancer cells as well as those displaying the multidrug‐resistant (MDR) phenotype. In addition, the chemical feasibility for the previously proposed mechanism of action of polygodial, involving the formation of a Paal–Knorr pyrrole with a lysine residue on the target protein, was demonstrated by the synthesis of a stable polygodial pyrrole derivative. These studies reveal rich chemical and biological properties associated with polygodial and its direct derivatives. These compounds should inspire further work in this area aimed at the development of new pharmacological agents, or the exploration of novel mechanisms of covalent modification of biological molecules with natural products.  相似文献

This study provides insight into the mechanistic and performance features of the cyclic reduction of NOx by CO in the presence and absence of excess water on a Pt–Rh/Ba/Al2O3 NOx storage and reduction catalyst. At low temperatures (150–200 °C), CO is ineffective in reducing NOx due to self-inhibition while at temperatures exceeding 200 °C, CO effectively reduces NOx to main product N2 (selectivity >70 %) and byproduct N2O. The addition of H2O at these temperatures has a significant promoting effect on NOx conversion while leading to a slight drop in the CO conversion, indicating a more efficient and selective lean reduction process. The appearance of NH3 as a product is attributed either to isocyanate (NCO) hydrolysis and/or reduction of NOx by H2 formed by the water gas shift chemistry. After the switch from the rich to lean phase, second maxima are observed in the N2O and CO2 concentrations versus time, in addition to the maxima observed during the rich phase. These and other product evolution trends provide evidence for the involvement of NCOs as important intermediates, formed during the CO reduction of NO on the precious metal components, followed by their spillover to the storage component. The reversible storage of the NCOs on the Al2O3 and BaO and their reactivity appears to be an important pathway during cyclic operation on Pt–Rh/Ba/Al2O3 catalyst. In the absence of water the NCOs are not completely reacted away during the rich phase, which leads to their reaction with NO and O2 upon switching to the subsequent lean phase, as evidenced by the evolution of N2, N2O and CO2. In contrast, negligible product evolution is observed during the lean phase in the presence of water. This is consistent with a rapid hydrolysis of NCOs to NH3, which results in a deeper regeneration of the catalyst due in part to the reaction of the NH3 with stored NOx. The data reveal more efficient utilization of CO for reducing NOx in the presence of water which further underscores the NCO mechanism. Phenomenological pathways based on the data are proposed that describes the cyclic reduction of NOx by CO under dry and wet conditions.  相似文献

Austempering of a ferrite-pearlitic grade of ductile iron was carried out to assess the potential use of the material for crank shaft application reported. A commercial material was austempered at 340°C to realize the properties. The austempered ductile iron gave good strength although the ductility values were lower. The material developed had complete ausferritric structure free of pearlite. The various phase constitution and phase transformation associated with the treatment and during mechanical deformation was examined. Using XRD analysis the volume fraction of the austenite in the matrix was estimated. The various aspects of processing a commercial cast iron during ausetmpering, the phase transformation, microstructural evolution have been examined along with the property of the material. The mechanical behaviour of the material and the scope for further improvement is discussed.  相似文献

Alloyed gray cast iron of varying compositions was studied for their wear behavior. In general, the alloyed gray irons studied have higher graphite volume fraction (∼20%) with Type-A graphite flake morphology. Base cast iron showed two to three times higher wear rates than the alloyed gray irons. Tensile strength and wear rates show decreasing trend with increase in graphite and carbide volume fraction. Wear track analysis shows three body abrasive wear mode resulting in debris generation and smudging along the wear tracks. The graphite gets released during sliding to form films along the wear tracks and then forms irregular debris.  相似文献

We present a novel instrument for imaging the angular distributions of light backscattered by biological cells and tissues. The intensities in different regions of the image are due to scatterers of different sizes. We exploit this to study scattering from particles smaller than the wavelength of light used, even when they are mixed with larger particles. We show that the scattering from subcellular structure in both normal and cancerous human cells is best fitted to inverse power-law distributions for the sizes of the scattering objects, and propose that the distribution of scattering objects may be different in normal versus cancerous cells  相似文献

This work is inspired by the so-called reranking tasks in natural language processing. In this paper, we first study the ranking, reranking, and ordinal regression algorithms proposed recently in the context of ranks and margins. Then we propose a general framework for ranking and reranking, and introduce a series of variants of the perceptron algorithm for ranking and reranking in the new framework. Compared to the approach of using pairwise objects as training samples, the new algorithms reduces the data complexity and training time. We apply the new perceptron algorithms to the parse reranking and machine translation reranking tasks, and study the performance of reranking by employing various definitions of the margins.Editors: Dan Roth and Pascale Fung  相似文献

Escherichia coli bacteria in the logarithmic growth phase have been investigated by UV resonance Raman spectroscopy. Bacterial whole-cell Raman spectra excited at 251 nm reflect nearly exclusively the nucleic acid composition even though a very large fraction of the bacterial mass is composed of protein. It has been demonstrated that if bacteria are grown under controlled (logarithmic growth) conditions, which give rise to organisms of known average biochemical composition, the intensities of E. coli Raman spectra can be explained quantitatively from the knowledge of component nucleic acid base resonance Raman cross sections.  相似文献
