In this contribution, a novel linear generalized disjunctive programming (LGDP) model is developed for the design of multiproduct batch plants optimizing both process variables and the structure of the plant through the use of process performance models. These models describe unit operations using explicit expressions for the size and time factors as functions of the process variables with the highest impact. To attain a linear formulation, values of the process variables as well as unit sizes are selected from a set of meaningful discrete values provided by the designer. Regarding structural alternatives, both kinds of unit duplications in series and in parallel are considered in this approach. The inclusion of the duplication in series requires different detailed models that depend on the structure selected. Thus, in a new approach for the multiproduct batch plant design, a set of potential structural alternatives for the plant is defined. © 2010 American Institute of Chemical Engineers AIChE J, 2011  相似文献

Multilayer films combine properties of different polymers in a single material, attending specifications to applications such as packaging. However, the mechanical recycling for this material king is commercially less interesting because the polymeric components cannot easily be separated and the direct mechanical processing of the material leads to the immiscible and incompatible polymeric blends. The aim of this study was to evaluate properties of the blends of low-density polyethylene (LDPE) and polyamide 6 (PA6) generated from mechanical recycling of multilayer films constituted by LDPE and PA6, containing maleic anhydride grafted polyethylene (PE-g-MA) as compatibilizing agent and different amounts of virgin PA6. The LDPE/PA6 blends are immiscible for all composition and the use of PE-g-MA has showed little effect on the compatibility of the blends with high content of PA6. However, LDPE/PA6 blends with PA6 content up to 20 wt % showed considerable performance for mechanical performance that can justify the mechanical recycling of the material. © 2019 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Inkjet technology has become very popular in recent years and is nowadays widely used for decorating ceramic products. This has led to in-depth study of the operating principles and process variables involved. These notably influence the properties of the deposited ink layers, as do the physicochemical properties of the applied inks and of the glazes on which the inks are deposited. The problems associated with these factors are further heightened when inks with complex formulations designed to obtain special effects and specific surface properties are used. This study examines the characteristics of the interface that developed on applying an ink on a certain type of glaze, as well as the surface properties of the final product. The relationship of the amount of ink applied per unit area and the particle size distribution (PSD) of the glaze on which it was deposited to ink penetration into the glaze layer was also investigated. The resulting microstructures were observed by SEM, while the variation of glaze layer composition with distance to the surface was determined by SEM-EDS. The results obtained were successfully correlated with the porous texture of the unfired glaze (determined by SEM and mercury porosimetry) and with unfired glaze PSD.  相似文献

In this paper, the effect of the initial and advanced steps of glycosylation by Maillard reaction (MR) (glycation) of β-lactoglobulin (β-Lg) with galactose on the interfacial and foaming (foamability and foam stability) properties of this protein has been studied at both pH 7 and pH 5. Hardly any effect of glycation was observed at pH 7. However, a pH 5, due to its increased solubility, β-Lg glycated at 50 °C during 48 h (advanced steps of MR) presented the best dynamic of adsorption which lead to an increase of the surface dilatational modulus of adsorbed film. This resulted in a better foaming capacity, as well as higher stability of foams of β-Lg glycoconjugates with respect to native and control heated protein. These results could extend the applicability of β-Lg as a foaming agent, particularly in acid foods.  相似文献

Hydrogen fuel cells can potentially reduce greenhouse gas emissions and the dependence on finite fossil fuel resources. Improvements in the storage of hydrogen are needed for more widespread use of hydrogen fuel cells. To help better understand the hydrogen storage needs in the future, this study analyzes opportunities for the near-term deployment of H2-fueled fuel cells in man-portable power devices and personal electronics. The analysis engaged end users, equipment manufacturers, and technical experts to determine not only the most feasible devices for near-term deployment of hydrogen fuel cells but also the meaningful and realistic requirements for hydrogen storage in these applications. It was found that military personnel power generators, consumer battery rechargers, and specialized laptop computers offer the most potential for the incorporation of fuel cell technology. However, large improvements must be made in energy storage densities for hydrogen fuel cells to compete with batteries or direct methanol fuel cells in order to make fuel cells attractive if an inexpensive and convenient hydrogen supply is not available.  相似文献

Managing multilayered silvopastoral systems such as Mediterranean dehesas requires the study of nutrient resource partitioning among coexisting species and determination to what extent soil nutrients are limiting plant growth. We determined the effects of NPK fertilisation maintained over two consecutive years on dry matter production and nutritional status of pasture (herbaceous) species, two shrub species and Quercus ilex L. in two silvopastoral sites with different shrub-layer species. We selected two prominent Mediterranean shrub species that vary in their specific ecological strategies: a N2-fixing and sparse deep-rooting shrub (Retama sphaerocarpa (L.) Boiss, Retama site), and a dense shallow-rooting shrub (Cistus ladanifer L., Cistus site). Fertilisation significantly (P ≤ 0.05) increased pasture dry mass by 460% and 1,090% in the Retama and Cistus sites, respectively. Nitrogen uptake by pasture species was most stimulated in both sites, and was the major limiting nutrient for this group. At the Cistus site, fertilisation significantly increased leaf dry mass of Q. ilex by 53%, but no significant effect was found at the Retama site. There were no significant effects of fertilisation treatments on dry mass and nutrient status of Retama cladodes and Cistus leaves. Vector analysis revealed that the magnitude of relative changes in nutrient uptake and dry matter production of pasture in response to fertilisation was markedly higher than that of Q. ilex, R. sphaerocarpa and C. ladanifer, suggesting high competitive ability of pasture species for soil nutrients. Results suggest that patterns of soil nutrient partitioning are site-specific and, thus, likely depend on the dominant species in the shrub layer.  相似文献

Ethanolic extract of aerial parts of Artemisia annua L. and artemisinin were evaluated as anti-insect products. In a feeding deterrence assay on Epilachna paenulata Germ (Coleoptera: Coccinellidae) larvae, complete feeding rejection was observed at an extract concentration of 1.5 mg/cm2 on pumpkin leaf tissue. The same concentration produced a feeding inhibition of 87% in Spodoptera eridania (Cramer) (Lepidoptera: Noctuidae). In a no-choice assay, both species ate less and gained less weight when fed on leaves treated with the extract. Complete mortality in E. paenulata and 50% mortality in S. eridania were observed with extract at 1.5 mg/cm2. Artemisinin exhibited a moderate antifeedant effect on E. paenulata and S. eridania at 0.03–0.375 mg/cm2. However, a strong effect on survival and body weight was observed when E. paenulata larvae were forced to feed on leaves treated at 0.03 and 0.075 mg/cm2. Artemisia annua ethanolic extract of aerial parts at 1.5 mg/cm2 showed no phytotoxic effect on pumpkin seedlings.  相似文献

Several titania systems were synthesized by the sol–gel method using two different titanium precursors (titanium isopropoxide or tetrachloride) and diverse ageing methods (magnetic stirring, sonication, reflux and microwave radiation). Screening of such different synthetic conditions led us to choose titanium isopropoxide as the titanium precursor and sonication as the method of choice for ageing the gel. Application of the method to the synthesis of a platinum-doped system resulted in a solid with a BET surface area of 57 m2/g and consisting of 100% anatase titania. The system was submitted to different oxidative and reductive treatments in order to study the effect of such treatments on catalytic performance in gas-phase selective photooxidation of propan-2-ol. Interestingly, both oxidation and reduction at 850 °C led to an increase in molar conversion and selectivity to acetone as compared to calcination at 500 °C. So much so, that oxidation at 850 °C either in synthetic air flow or in static air resulted in better catalytic performance than Degussa P25, despite the fact that our catalysts consisted in very low surface area (6–8 m2/g) rutile titania specimens. XPS analyses of the systems showed that thermal treatment at 850 °C resulted in electron transfer from titania to Pt0 particles through the so-called strong metal-support interaction (SMSI) effect. Furthermore, the greater the SMSI effect, the better the catalytic performance. Improvement in photocatalytic activity is explained in terms of avoidance of electron–hole recombination through the electron transfer from titania to platinum particles.  相似文献
