This study investigated the effect of moving from small offices to a landscape environment for 19 Visual Display Unit (VDU) operators at Alcatel Denmark AS. The operators reported significantly improved lighting condition and glare situation. Further, visual discomfort was also significantly reduced on a Visual Analogue Scale (VAS). There was no significant correlation between lighting condition and visual discomfort neither in the small offices nor in the office landscape. However, visual discomfort correlated significantly with glare in small offices i.e. more glare is related to more visual discomfort. This correlation disappeared after the lighting system in the office landscape had been improved. There was also a significant correlation between glare and itching of the eyes as well as blurred vision in the small offices, i.e. more glare more visual symptoms. Experience of pain was found to reduce the subjective assessment of work capacity during VDU tasks. There was a significant correlation between visual discomfort and reduced work capacity in small offices and in the office landscape. When moving from the small offices to the office landscape, there was a significant reduction in headache as well as back pain. No significant changes in pain intensity in the neck, shoulder, forearm, and wrist/hand were observed.The pain levels in different body areas were significantly correlated with subjective assessment of reduced work capacity in small offices and in the office landscape.By careful design and construction of an office landscape with regard to lighting and visual conditions, transfer from small offices may be acceptable from a visual-ergonomic point of view. 相似文献

The online computational burden of linear model predictive control (MPC) can be moved offline by using multi-parametric programming, so-called explicit MPC. The solution to the explicit MPC problem is a piecewise affine (PWA) state feedback function defined over a polyhedral subdivision of the set of feasible states. The online evaluation of such a control law needs to determine the polyhedral region in which the current state lies. This procedure is called point location; its computational complexity is challenging, and determines the minimum possible sampling time of the system. A new flexible algorithm is proposed which enables the designer to trade off between time and storage complexities. Utilizing the concept of hash tables and the associated hash functions, the proposed method solves an aggregated point location problem that overcomes prohibitive complexity growth with the number of polyhedral regions, while the storage–processing trade-off can be optimized via scaling parameters. The flexibility and power of this approach is supported by several numerical examples. 相似文献

OBJECTIVE: The present study developed and tested a model of car following by human drivers. BACKGROUND: Previous models of car following are based on 3-D parameters such as lead vehicle speed and distance information, which are not directly available to a driver. In the present paper we present the driving by visual angle (DVA) model, which is based on the visual information (visual angle and rate of change of visual angle) available to the driver. METHOD: Two experiments in a driving simulator examined car-following performance in response to speed variations of a lead vehicle defined by a sum of sine wave oscillations and ramp acceleration functions. In addition, the model was applied to six driving events using real world-driving data. RESULTS: The model provided a good fit to car-following performance in the driving simulation studies as well as in real-world driving performance. A comparison with the advanced interactive microscopic simulator for urban and nonurban networks (AIMSUN) model, which is based on 3-D parameters, suggests that the DVA was more predictive of driver behavior in matching lead vehicle speed and distance headway. CONCLUSION: Car-following behavior can be modeled using only visual information to the driver and can produce performance more predictive of driver performance than models based on 3-D (speed or distance) information. The role of the primary binding residue (P1) in complexes between three different subtilases (subtilisin Carlsberg, thermitase and proteinase K) and their canonical protein inhibitor eglin c have been studied by free energy calculations. Based on the crystal structures of eglin c in complex with subtilisin Carlsberg and thermitase, and a homology model of the eglin c-proteinase K complex, a total of 57 mutants have been constructed and docked into their host proteins. The binding free energy was then calculated using molecular dynamics (MD) simulations combined with the linear interaction energy (LIE) method for all complexes differing only in the nature of the amino acid at the P1 position. LIE calculations for 19 different complexes for each subtilase were thus carried out excluding proline. The effects of substitutions at the P1 position on the binding free energies are found to be very large, and positively charged residues (Arg, Lys and His) are particularly deleterious for all three enzymes. The charged variants of the acidic side chains are found to bind more favorably as compared to their protonated states in all three subtilases. Furthermore, hydrophobic amino acids are accommodated most favorably at the S1-site in all three enzymes. Comparison of the three series of binding free energies shows only minor differences in the 19 computed relative binding free energies among these subtilases. This is further reflected in the correlation coefficient between the 23 relative binding free energies obtained, including the possible protonation states of ionizable side chains, but excluding the P1 Pro, for subtilisin Carlsberg versus thermitase (0.95), subtilisin versus proteinase K (0.94) and thermitase versus proteinase K (0.96). 相似文献

We will in this paper address the problem of offline path planning for Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs). Our goal is to find paths that meet mission objectives, are safe with respect to collision and grounding, fuel efficient and satisfy criteria for communication. Due to the many nonconvex constraints of the problem, Mixed Integer Linear Programming (MILP) will be used in finding the path. Approximate communication constraints and terrain avoidance constraints are used in the MILP formulation. To achieve more accurate prediction of the ability to communicate, the path is then analyzed in the radio propagation toolbox SPLAT!, and if the UAVs are not able to communicate according to design criteria for bandwidth, constraints are modified in the optimization problem in an iterative manner. This paper provides a systematic method for model bank selection in multi-linear model analysis for nonlinear systems by presenting a new algorithm which incorporates a nonlinearity measure and a modified gap based metric. This algorithm is developed for off-line use, but can be implemented for on-line usage. Initially, the nonlinearity measure analysis based on the higher order statistic (HOS) and the linear cross correlation methods are used for decomposing the total operating space into several regions with linear models. The resulting linear models are then used to construct the primary model bank. In order to avoid unnecessary linear local models in the primary model bank, a gap based metric is introduced and applied in order to merge similar linear local models. In order to illustrate the usefulness of the proposed algorithm, two simulation examples are presented: a pH neutralization plant and a continuous stirred tank reactor (CSTR). 相似文献

The inherent dynamics of bipedal, passive mechanisms are studiedto investigate the relation between motions constrained to two-dimensional (2D)planes and those free to move in a three-dimensional (3D) environment. Information systems methodologies are an important component of the IS infrastructure and a primary device for organizing systems development work. Evidence suggests that methodology adoption and use are problematic. This research seeks to generate insight into business users' interest in adoption through detailed examination of a case. A framework is developed for organizing relevant research findings. The field research methods are described and details of the case reported. The case highlights the role of business managers in methodology adoption and the influence of business pressures originating in the strategic environment. Analysis shows the organizing framework to require extension to include a more direct role for business decision makers. it is argued that previous research has obscured the legitimate concern of business with systems development methodologies. As business increasingly asserts its interest in and control over IS, it will be necessary to give greater consideration to the needs of business in the selection and adoption of methodologies. 相似文献

Rat adrenal cortex contains a protein(s) that binds pregnenolone with high affinity. This binding, demonstrated by gel filtration and by a dextran-coated charcoal method, was associated with the cytosol and with fractions solubilized by sonication from the mitochondria and microsomes. The binding of pregnenolone was saturable and was inhibited by mercurials and proteolytic enzymes. Pregnenolone-binding was not influenced by the presence of progesterone, deoxycorticosterone, corticosterone or aldosterone, but was inhibited by steroids with a 3beta-hydroxy-5-ene structure similar to pregnenolone, and by hydroxymethylene steroid and cyanoketone. We suggest that this protein is involved in the intracellular transport and retention of pregnenolone within adrenal cortical cells. 相似文献

Improving train traffic control can be a cost-efficient way to improve train traffic punctuality and increase utilization
of existing and future railway infrastructure. However, performance in train traffic control tasks currently involves working
on a technical level in order to regulate the traffic flow. Working in a preventive manner is poorly supported and train traffic
controllers are usually restricted to just solving problems as they occur. This often results in unnecessarily long delays
and decreased timeliness of train traffic. The main objective of this paper is to describe a proposed control strategy and
a case study, which evaluates the control strategy and the prototype tool derived from the research. By shifting the control
paradigm to a high-level control strategy, many of today’s problems may be avoided, with benefits of the reduction in delays,
improved timeliness and better utilization of the infrastructure. Twenty-one train traffic controllers participated in a case
study, with a simulated prototype environment. The majority of the participating train traffic controllers were positive to
the new concepts and ideas. Many of the important aspects of the proposed control strategy can be investigated with the simulation,
but due to the complexity of train traffic some issues must be evaluated in an operative environment. 相似文献
