The properties of electronic devices based on carbon nanotube networks (CNTNs) depend on the carbon nanotube (CNT) deposition method used, which can yield a range of network morphologies. Here, we synthesize single-walled CNTs using an aerosol (floating catalyst) chemical vapor deposition process and deposit CNTs at room temperature onto substrates as random networks with various morphologies. We use four CNT deposition techniques: electrostatic or thermal precipitation, and filtration through a filter followed by press transfer or dissolving the filter. We study the mobility using pulsed measurements to avoid hysteresis, the on/off ratio, and the electrical noise properties of the CNTNs, and correlate them to the network morphology through careful imaging. Among the four deposition methods thermal precipitation is found to be a novel approach to prepare high-performance, partially aligned CNTNs that are dry-deposited directly after their synthesis. Our results provide new insight into the role of the network morphologies and offer paths towards tunable transport properties in CNT thin film transistors.   相似文献

Metallo-β-lactamases (MBLs) are zinc-dependent bacterial enzymes that inactivate essentially all classes of β-lactam antibiotics including last-resort carbapenems. At present there are no clinically approved MBL inhibitors, and in order to develop such agents it is essential to understand their inhibitory mechanisms. Herein, we describe a comprehensive mechanistic study of a panel of structurally distinct MBL inhibitors reported in both the scientific and patent literature. Specifically, we determined the half-maximal inhibitory concentration (IC50) for each inhibitor against MBLs belonging to the NDM and IMP families. In addition, the binding affinities of the inhibitors for Zn2+, Ca2+ and Mg2+ were assessed by using isothermal titration calorimetry (ITC). We also compared the ability of the different inhibitors to resensitize a highly resistant MBL-expressing Escherichia coli strain to meropenem. These investigations reveal clear differences between the MBL inhibitors studied in terms of their IC50 value, metal binding ability, and capacity to synergize with meropenem. Notably, our studies demonstrate that potent MBL inhibition and synergy with meropenem are not explicitly dependent on the capacity of an inhibitor to strongly chelate zinc.  相似文献

This study aims to estimate the reduction in collagen fibril density within the central 6 mm radius of keratoconic corneas through the processing of microstructure and videokeratography data. Collagen fibril distribution maps and topography maps were obtained for seven keratoconic and six healthy corneas, and topographic features were assessed to detect and calculate the area of the cone in each keratoconic eye. The reduction in collagen fibril density within the cone area was estimated with reference to the same region in the characteristic collagen fibril maps of healthy corneas. Together with minimum thickness and mean central corneal refractive power, the cone area was correlated with the reduction in the cone collagen fibrils. For the corneas considered, the mean area of keratoconic cones was 3.30 ± 1.90 mm2. Compared with healthy corneas, fibril density in the cones of keratoconic corneas was lower by as much as 35%, and the mean reduction was 17 ± 10%. A linear approximation was developed to relate the magnitude of reduction to the refractive power, minimum corneal thickness and cone area (R2 = 0.95, p < 0.001). Outside the cone area, there was no significant difference between fibril arrangement in healthy and keratoconic corneas. The presented method can predict the mean fibril density in the keratoconic eye''s cone area. The technique can be applied in microstructure-based finite-element models of the eye to regulate its stiffness level and the stiffness distribution within the areas affected by keratoconus.  相似文献

Recent embedded systems integrate a growing number of intellectual property cores into increasingly large designs. Implementation, prototyping, and verification of such large systems has become very challenging. One of the reasons is that chips/FPGAs resources are limited and therefore it is not always possible to implement the whole design in the traditional system-on-a-chip solutions. The state-of-the-art is to partition such systems into smaller sub-systems to implement each on a separate chip. Consequently, it requires interconnecting separate chips/FPGAs. Since Networks-on-Chip (NoCs) have become common interconnection solutions in embedded designs, we propose to bridge NoC-based SoCs enabling a generic multi-chip systems interconnection. In this context, the contribution of this paper is threefold, (i) we explore the NoC protocol stack to determine the best layer for implementing the off-chip bridge, (ii) we propose a generic hardware architecture for the bridge, and (iii) we develop a new software architecture enabling seamless configuration and communication of multi-chip NoC-based SoCs. Finally, we demonstrate performance, i.e., bandwidth and latency, of the bridge in a multi-FPGA platform, while the bridge guarantees QoS of traffic. The synthesis results indicate the implementation area cost of the bridge is only 1% of Xilinx Virtex6 FPGA.  相似文献

The key property of monotone classifiers is that increasing (decreasing) input values lead to increasing (decreasing) the output value. Preserving monotonicity for a classifier typically requires many constraints to be respected by modelling approaches such as artificial intelligence techniques. The type of constraints strongly depends on the modelling assumptions. Of course, for sophisticated models, such conditions might be very complex. In this study, we present a new family of kernels that we call it Choquet kernels. Henceforth, it allows for employing popular kernel-based methods, such as support vector machines. Instead of a naïve approach with exponential computational complexity, we propose an equivalent formulation with quadratic time in the number of attributes. Furthermore, because coefficients derived from kernel solutions are not necessarily monotone in the dual form, different approaches are proposed to monotonize coefficients. Finally, experiments illustrate beneficial properties of the Choquet kernels.  相似文献

The World Health Organization (WHO) in 2013 reported that more than seven million unexpected losses every year are credited to air contamination. Because of incredible adaptability and expense viability of fibrous filters, they are broadly used for removing particulates from gasses. The influence of appropriate parameters, e.g., the fiber arrangement, solid volume fraction (SVF or α), fluid flow face velocity (mean inlet velocity), and filter thickness (I x ), on pressure drop and deposition efficiency are researched. Furthermore, to study the effects of variation of the laminar flow regime and fiber’s cross-sectional shape on the deposition of particles, only a single square fiber has been placed in a channel. By means of finite volume method (FVM), the 2-D motion of 100–1000 nm particles was investigated numerically. The Lagrangian method has been employed and the Saffman’s lift, Drag, and Brownian forces have been considered to affect this motion. Contribution of increasing the Reynolds number to filtration performance increased with smaller fine aerosols to a level of 59.72 %. However, for over 500 nm, the Re = 100 has more efficient results up to 26.97 %. Remarkably, the single square fiber in Re = 200 regime performs similarly to the optimum choice of multi-fibrous filters. It was portrayed the parallel circular multi-fibrous filter with a ratio of horizontal-to-vertical distances between fibers, l/h = 1.143; α = 0.687, I x  = 116.572, and h/d f  = 1.0 is the most efficient filter’s structure. The increase in the ratio of vertical distances between fibers-to-fiber’s diameter (h/d f ) and decrease in SVF or α, results in a drastically decrement of the filtration performance of both parallel and staggered structures. The obtained results have been validated with previous research findings.  相似文献

In this paper the problem of developing bidding strategies for the participants of dynamic oligopolistic electricity markets is studied. Attention is given to strategic bidding of load serving entities (LSE) in these markets. We model oligopolistic electricity markets as non-linear dynamical systems and use discrete-time Nash bidding strategies. We assume a Cournot model for our game, where the LSEs decide on demand quantities and the market price is the marginal cost of producing electricity.Attention is given to a problem, where the objective functions are quadratic in the deviations of trajectories from desired trajectories and quadratic in the control deviations from the nominal controls. It is assumed that each power marketer can estimate his/her competitors' benefit function coefficients.The optimal bidding strategies are developed mathematically using dynamic game theory. We deal with games that are non-linear in the state equations. We linearize these equations for complex non-linear oligopolistic electricity multi-markets and use discrete-time Nash strategies. We show that the actual dynamic excursions from the operating point where we linearize are small so that the linearization is valid. The developed algorithm is applied to an IEEE 14-bus power system. We show that the LSEs' expected profits are higher for our method than those for other methods in the literature (F. Wen, A.K. While many large touchscreen devices have a split keyboard option to enable two-thumb typing, there are significant differences in the design which affect users’ text entry rate. A mixed-integer programming model is developed to optimize key-to-thumb assignment with the objective of minimizing the expected time to type a character. Computer simulations are conducted to determine the optimal key dimension under different values of the Fitts’ law’s slope coefficient, typing error rate, and alternate-hand advantage phenomenon. The results show that text entry rate and the optimal key-to-thumb assignment depend on key dimensions, user’s speed-accuracy profile, and the level of alternate-hand advantage. The optimal keyboard is proposed. To validate the analytical findings, an empirical study is conducted with eighteen users and six different keyboards in terms of key dimensions and typing zone. Empirical results report between 7% and 18% improvement in the text entry rate over the other split keyboards tested.  相似文献
