We demonstrate a microfluidics-based fluorescence detection device where the filters, source, detector, and electronically controlled valves are embedded into a Polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS)-based microfluidic chip. The device reported here has been specifically designed for chlorophyll a fluorescence sensing in autonomous systems, such as oceanic applications. In contrast to a monolithic approach, the modular approach made the fabrication of this device simpler and cheaper. For fluorescence detection, an InGaN/GaN LED is used as the excitation source to specifically excite chlorophyll a; a metal-dielectric Fabry?CPerot filter was used to extinguish out-of-band excitation. A simple Si photodiode is used as detector and provided with a thermally evaporated CdS emission filter to block the excitation source. This filter combination provides an excellent solution to the difficult problem of combining high-rejection excitation and emission filters in an integrated thin-film format. Furthermore, the metal-dielectric filter provides a much broader angular response than a comparable multilayer Bragg mirror, which is a key advantage in the integrated format. We use a novel paraffin wax-based valve design affords low power single-use actuation, between 0.5 and 1 J per actuation and withstands 0.6 bar differential pressure, which provides better performance than its previously reported counterparts. The remote valve-controlled operation of the fluorescence detection system is demonstrated, illustrating the measurement of a chlorophyll a solution, with a detection limit of 340 ??M and subsequent valve-controlled flushing of the measurement reservoir.  相似文献

We describe a novel multiplexing approach to achieve tradeoffs in space, angle and time resolution in photography. We explore the problem of mapping useful subsets of time‐varying 4D lightfields in a single snapshot. Our design is based on using a dynamic mask in the aperture and a static mask close to the sensor. The key idea is to exploit scene‐specific redundancy along spatial, angular and temporal dimensions and to provide a programmable or variable resolution tradeoff among these dimensions. This allows a user to reinterpret the single captured photo as either a high spatial resolution image, a refocusable image stack or a video for different parts of the scene in post‐processing. A lightfield camera or a video camera forces a‐priori choice in space‐angle‐time resolution. We demonstrate a single prototype which provides flexible post‐capture abilities not possible using either a single‐shot lightfield camera or a multi‐frame video camera. We show several novel results including digital refocusing on objects moving in depth and capturing multiple facial expressions in a single photo.  相似文献

In the present article, a compact triple‐band multistubs loaded resonator printed monopole antenna is proposed. The antenna consists of a quarter wavelength two asymmetrical inverted L‐shaped stubs to excite two resonant modes for 3.5/5.5 GHz bands and one integrated horizontally T‐shaped stub with inverted long L‐shaped stub to excite resonant mode for 2.5 GHz band. By loading these stub resonators along y‐axis with distinct gaps, the antenna resonates at three frequencies 2.57/3.52/5.51 GHz covering the desired bands while keeping compact size of 24 × 30 mm2 (0.2 × 0.25 ). The proposed antenna is fabricated on Rogers RT/duroid 5880 substrate with thickness 0.79 mm and its performance experimentally verified. The measured results reveal that the antenna has the impedance bandwidths of about 210 MHz (2.50‐2.71 GHz), 260 MHz (3.37‐3.63 GHz), and 650 MHz (5.20‐5.85 GHz), for 2.5/3.5/5.5 GHz WiMAX and 5.2/5.8 GHz WLAN band systems. The antenna provides omnidirectional radiation patterns and flat antenna gains over the three operating bands. In addition, the design approach and effects of multistubs resonator lengths on the operating bands are also examined and discussed in detail.  相似文献

A rapid screening system for heterogeneous catalyst discovery has been developed by coupling an in-house designed and fabricated high temperature vapor phase pulse reactor on-line to a GC-MS. The incorporation of gas chromatography for separation of the products with the mass spectrometry system allowed simultaneous identification and determination of reaction products and substrate conversion. This system was employed to study the vapor phase catalytic hydride transfer reduction (CHTR) of nitrobenzene with methanol as hydrogen donor on an MgO catalyst as a model reaction. Structural information of all the by-products that were formed was useful to understand the reaction mechanism. The products obtained with the new screening technique were in good agreement with conventional bench scale experiments. The rapid online screening provided an efficient methodology for optimization of reaction conditions such as catalyst loading, reaction temperature, and mole ratios. Response Surface Methodology (RSM) was used to optimize the conversion of reactants and selectivity of products.  相似文献

Low Cycle Fatigue (LCF) on smooth hour glass specimens and Fatigue Crack Propagation (FCP) studies on Single Edge Notch (SEN) specimens were carried out at room temperature on four Cu-Al polycrystalline alloys to investigate the effects of Stacking Fault Energy (SFE) and mechanical property variations on fatigue characteristics. Significant improvements in fatigue properties were observed for alloys of low SFE. A microhardness technique was used to delineate the fatigue plastic zone ahead of stopped cracks at several stress intensity ranges for all the alloys. Planar slip was associated with a less than a second power dependence of plastic zone size on the stress intensity range. Transmission Electron Microscopy (TEM) was used to observe the substructures that developed both in LCF at different strain ranges and also ahead of fatigue cracks at different stress intensity ranges. Fractography was carried out to study the micromechanisms of crack propagation using a two stage replication technique. The experimental results were in good agreement with a theoretical model for FCP developed previously by the authors which incorporates mechanical and microstructural variables.  相似文献

This paper analyzes the Russian software industry in the context of trade in information technology services. We assess Russia's underlying sources of competitive edge in software, such as its scientific establishments, education system, diaspora and low costs, and identify the institutional impediments to growth. A survey reveals that foreign outsourcing contracts, a high value-added niche and high education levels characterize Russia's small, privately held software firms. A comparison with the Indian software industry underscores the structural differences in outsourcing relationships developed by the two countries and emphasizes that national advantages are complex amalgamations of many factors and need to be overtly marketed. Beyond the resources that give comparative and competitive advantage to a transitioning economy, a critical role is played by powerful industry organizations and by non-market state institutions that can level the economic field and inject credibility into market structures.  相似文献

Slag foaming is an important phenomenon in steelmaking processes with both beneficial as well as negative effects. The present work is part of the wider project on the modelling of slag foaming, with special reference to dynamic conditions. Since bubble formation is the first step to foam formation, the present work was carried out in an attempt to simulate the bubble formation in slag/metal reactions in steelmaking processes by water‐modelling experiments. The bubble formation due to the gas produced through chemical reaction at the interface between oleic acid and sodium bicarbonate solution was systematically monitored. The chemical reaction rate was varied by varying the concentration of sodium bicarbonate. The bubbles were observed to be generated in the heavier aqueous phase just below the water‐oil interface. The bubbles penetrated the interface and escaped through the oil phase. The rate of the reaction was estimated from the volume of the gas that passed the water/oil interface. It was observed that the bubble formation and bubble growth mechanism were influenced by the reaction rate while the bubble size seemed to be unaffected by the reaction rate.  相似文献

The electrocardiogram is a representative signal containing information about the condition of the heart. The shape and size of the P-QRS-T wave, the time intervals between its various peaks, etc. may contain useful information about the nature of disease afflicting the heart. However, these subtle details cannot be directly monitored by the human observer. Besides, since bio-signals are highly subjective, the symptoms may appear at random in the time scale. Therefore, the signal parameters, extracted and analysed using computers, are highly useful in diagnostics. This paper deals with the classification of certain diseases using artificial neural network (ANN) and fuzzy equivalence relations. The heart rate variability is used as the base signal from which certain parameters are extracted and presented to the ANN for classification. The same data is also used for fuzzy equivalence classifier. The feedforward architecture ANN classifier is seen to be correct in about 85% of the test cases, and the fuzzy classifier yields correct classification in over 90% of the cases.  相似文献

We propose an implementation of the quantum fast Fourier transform algorithm in an entangled system of multilevel atoms. The Fourier transform occurs naturally in the unitary time evolution of energy eigenstates and is used to define an alternative wave-packet basis for quantum information in the atom. A change of basis from energy levels to wave packets amounts to a discrete quantum Fourier transform within each atom. The algorithm then reduces to a series of conditional phase transforms between two entangled atoms in mixed energy and wave-packet bases. We show how to implement such transforms using wave-packet control of the internal states of the ions in the linear ion-trap scheme for quantum computing.  相似文献
