Predictions for oxidation behavior of Ni-base superalloys become more difficult than before because of the complex alloy composition. In this study, we focus on the initial oxidation behavior of Ni-base superalloys, and we suggest a new diagram to predict the initial oxide morphology of Ni-base superalloys with 63 binary, ternary, and multicomponent Ni-base single-crystal superalloys at 1373 K (1100 °C). As a comparison of observed and calculated weight changes after one cycle at 1373 K (1100 °C) obtained by a regression analysis, 63 alloys demonstrated two distinct behaviors, which are divided heretofore into group A and group B. Microstructural observation revealed that an oxide layer in the group A alloys consists of Al2O3 and/or spinel or complex oxide, whereas an oxide layer in the group B alloys consists of a thick NiO layer with an Al2O3 internal subscale. Thermodynamic properties can reflect more effects of alloy elements in Ni-base superalloys, and Al and Cr activities, calculated by Thermo-Calc, were used as factors to predict initial oxidation morphology. Groups A and B alloys can clearly be divided according to Al and Cr activities. This was suggested as a new diagram to predict the initial oxide morphology of Ni-base superalloys, and possibly it can apply for any generation of Ni-base superalloys.  相似文献

OBJECTIVES: To analyse brand nicotine yield including "ultra low" brands (that is, cigarettes yielding less-than-or-equal 0.1 mg of nicotine by Federal Trade Commission (FTC) methods) in relation to nicotine intake (urinary nicotine, cotinine and trans-3'-hydroxycotinine) among 246 Japanese male smokers. DESIGN: Cross sectional study. SETTING: Two companies in Osaka, Japan. SUBJECTS: 130 Japanese male workers selected randomly during their annual regular health check up and 116 Japanese male volunteers taking part in a smoking cessation programme. MAIN OUTCOME MEASUREMENTS: Subjects answered a questionnaire about smoking habits. Following the interview, each participant was asked to smoke his own cigarette and, after extinguishing it, to blow expired air into an apparatus for measuring carbon monoxide concentration. Urine was also collected for the assays of nicotine metabolites. RESULTS: We found wide variation in urinary nicotine metabolite concentrations at any given nicotine yield. Based on one way analysis of variance (ANOVA), the urinary nicotine metabolite concentrations of ultra low yield cigarette smokers were significantly lower compared to smokers of high (p = 0.002) and medium yield cigarettes (p = 0.017). On the other hand, the estimated nicotine intake per ultra low yield cigarette smoked (0.59 mg) was much higher than the 0.1 mg indicated by machine. CONCLUSIONS: In this study of Japanese male smokers, actual levels of nicotine intake bore little relation to advertised nicotine yield levels. Our study reinforces the need to warn consumers of inappropriate advertisements of nicotine yields, especially low yield brands.  相似文献

A practical synthesis yielding P‐perfluoroalkylated phosphines from triarylphosphines and perfluoroalkyl iodides has been developed. The photoinduced reaction involves the substitution of aryl groups on the phosphorus atom with perfluoroalkyl groups to successfully afford P‐perfluoroalkylated phosphines. In addition, the P‐perfluoroalkylated phosphines were found to promote the Cu‐free cross‐coupling reaction of acid chlorides with terminal alkynes.

The global effort to prevent iodine deficiency disorders through iodine supplementation, such as universal salt iodization, has achieved impressive progress during the last few decades. However, iodine excess, due to extensive environmental iodine exposure in addition to poor monitoring, is currently a more frequent occurrence than iodine deficiency. Iodine excess is a precipitating environmental factor in the development of autoimmune thyroid disease. Excessive amounts of iodide have been linked to the development of autoimmune thyroiditis in humans and animals, while intrathyroidal depletion of iodine prevents disease in animal strains susceptible to severe thyroiditis. Although the mechanisms by which iodide induces thyroiditis are still unclear, several mechanisms have been proposed: (1) excess iodine induces the production of cytokines and chemokines that can recruit immunocompetent cells to the thyroid; (2) processing excess iodine in thyroid epithelial cells may result in elevated levels of oxidative stress, leading to harmful lipid oxidation and thyroid tissue injuries; and (3) iodine incorporation in the protein chain of thyroglobulin may augment the antigenicity of this molecule. This review will summarize the current knowledge regarding excess iodide as an environmental toxicant and relate it to the development of autoimmune thyroid disease.  相似文献

Identification of small-molecule ligands for a protein of interest can facilitate the analysis of the protein's functions in biological systems. Small-molecule microarrays have allowed for rapid detection of such ligand-protein interactions in a high-throughput manner, although a label on a protein is needed to observe these interactions. By combining SPR imaging technology with our recently developed photo-cross-linked small-molecule array platform, we developed a novel platform that allows in situ observation of interactions between photo-cross-linked small molecules on gold surfaces and nonlabeled proteins in solution. Interactions of estrogenic and androgenic substances with estrogen receptor alpha were observed using this platform.  相似文献

beta-Lactoglobulin (beta-Lg) is a major constituent of fouling deposits in the dairy industry. To determine the interaction between beta-Lg and stainless steel surfaces, beta-Lg irreversibly adsorbed on stainless steel particles was subjected to lysyl endopeptidase treatment and the course of fragmentation was compared with that observed for beta-Lg in solution. The results showed a distinct difference between the courses of fragmentation: a fragment (residues 102-135) was liberated readily from beta-Lg in solution but scarcely from beta-Lg irreversibly adsorbed on stainless steel particles. This result strongly suggests that residues 102-135 include a segment primarily responsible for the interaction of beta-Lg with stainless steel surfaces. This supports our previous results [Sakiyama et al., J. Biosci. Bioeng., 88, 536-541 (1999)] that showed that residues 125-135 of beta-Lg have a strong affinity toward stainless steel surfaces and probably a major contribution to the adsorption of beta-Lg.  相似文献

Poly(ε‐caprolactone) (PCL)/silicon‐substituted carbonate apatite (Si‐CO3Ap) composite derived from the interconnected porous Si‐CO3Ap reinforced with molten PCL was prepared. PCL was used to improve the mechanical properties of a porous apatite by a simple polymer infiltration method, in which the molten PCL was deposited through the interconnected channel of porous Si‐CO3Ap. The PCL covered and penetrated into the pores of the Si‐CO3Ap to form an excellent physical interaction with Si‐CO3Ap leading to a significant increase in diametral tensile strength from 0.23 MPa to a maximum of 2.04 MPa. The Si‐CO3Ap/PCL composite has a porosity of about 50–60% and an interconnected porous structure, with pore sizes of 50–150 μm which are necessary for bone tissue formation. These results could pave the way for producing a porous, structured biocomposite which could be used for bone replacement. © 2013 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J. Appl. Polym. Sci., 2013  相似文献
