The present study was conducted to investigate the effects of impregnation with silver, copper, and zinc oxide aqueous nanofluids on the chemical properties of Paulownia fortunei decayed with the white-rot fungus Trametes versicolor. Wood specimens with a dry density of 0.37 g/cm3 were impregnated with a 400 ppm aqueous suspension of nanoparticles in a pressure vessel under 2.5 bars for 20 min. Specimens were inoculated with the fungus and incubated for 16 weeks at 26 °C and 65 % relative humidity in accordance with EN113. The spectra of specimens impregnated with nanosilver, nanocopper, or nanozinc-oxide showed no significant changes in their relative peak intensities of lignin and carbohydrates after exposure to T. versicolor. This can indicate fungicide effects of the metal nanoparticles on T. versicolor.  相似文献

Existing catalysts for ethanol oxidation in direct ethanol fuel cells (DEFC) are faced to significant challenges due to their poor performance and CO like intermediates poisoning tolerance at anode surface. Hence researchers are looking for new electrocatalysts in the ethanol oxidation. In this study, polypyrrole/N-doped graphene oxide (PPy/NGO) nanocomposite was prepared using in-situ polymerization method. Next the platinum-palladium (PtPd) was electrochemically decorated on PPy/NGO nanocomposite surface. In order to ensure the correct preparation of nanocomposite, fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR) analysis was carried out to peruse the chemical structure of the nanocomposite and also to investigate their morphology, field emission scanning electron microscopy (FE-SEM) and X-ray diffraction (XRD) were used. The morphology of nanocomposite shows that PPy has penetrated into the space between NGO plates. Disparate electrochemical techniques like cyclic voltammetry (CV), linear sweep voltammetry (LSV) and chronoamperometry (CA) were employed to evaluate the oxidation of ethanol. Results showed that PtPd/PPy/NGO exhibits improved electrocatalytic activity and stability for ethanol oxidation. Enhanced active surface area of the PtPd/PPy/NGO electrode (35.1 m2 g?1) contributes to increase in current density and decrease in over potential values in the ethanol oxidation as compared to PtPd electrocatalyst.  相似文献

The objective of this study was to investigate the effects of grain sources and forage provision on growth performance, blood metabolites, and feeding behaviors of dairy calves. Sixty 3-d-old Holstein dairy calves (42.2 ± 2.5 kg of body weight) were used in a 2 × 3 factorial arrangement with the factors being grain sources (barley and corn) and forage provision (no forage, alfalfa hay, and corn silage). Individually housed calves were randomly assigned (n = 10 calves per treatment: 5 males and 5 females) to 6 treatments: (1) barley grain (BG) without forage supplement, (2) BG with alfalfa hay (AH) supplementation, (3) BG with corn silage (CS) supplementation, (4) corn grain (CG) without forage supplement, (5) CG with AH supplementation, and (6) CG with CS supplementation. All calves had ad libitum access to water and starter feed throughout the experiment. All calves were weaned on d 49 and remained in the study until d 63. Starter feed intake and average daily gain (ADG) was greater for calves fed barley than those fed corn during the preweaning and overall periods. Calves supplemented with CS had greater final body weight and postweaning as well as overall starter feed intake than AH and non-forage-supplemented calves. During the preweaning and overall periods, feeding of CS was found to increase ADG compared with feeding AH and nonforage diets. However, feed efficiency was not affected by dietary treatments. Calves supplemented with CS spent more time ruminating compared with AH and control groups; nonnutritive oral behaviors were the greatest in non-forage-supplemented calves. Regardless of the grain sources, the rumen pH value was greater for AH calves compared with CS and non-forage-supplemented calves. Blood concentration of BHB was greater for CS-supplemented calves compared with AH and non-forage-supplemented calves. Furthermore, body length and heart girth were greater for calves fed barley compared with those fed corn, and also in forage-supplemented calves compared with non-forage-supplemented calves. These results showed no interactions between grain sources and forage provision on calf performance; however, the inclusion of CS and barley in starter diets could enhance the growth performance of Holstein calves during the transition from liquid to solid feed.  相似文献

This study evaluated the effects of increasing the physically effective neutral detergent fiber (peNDF) intake of lactating dairy cows fed high-concentrate diets supplemented with unsaturated fat on intake, eating behavior, diet sorting, chewing activity, total-tract digestibility, and milk production and composition. Diets contained 24% alfalfa hay (AH), 16% corn silage, 58% concentrate, and 2% yellow grease [dry matter (DM) basis], and dietary peNDF content was increased by varying the particle size (PS) of the AH. Nine multiparous cows averaging 87.8 ± 14.8 d in milk and weighing 653 ± 53 kg were randomly assigned to a triplicate 3 × 3 Latin square. During each 21-d period, cows were offered 1 of 3 total mixed rations that varied in PS of AH: fine, medium, and long, with a geometric mean particle length of 3.00, 3.57 and 3.87 mm, respectively. Increasing PS quadratically affected DM intake (DMI; 24.7, 25.4, and 23.7 kg/d, for fine, medium, and long, respectively), but cumulative DMI at 2, 4, and 6 h after feeding was similar across treatments, averaging 23.4, 35.6 and 46.4% of total DMI for the 3 time points, respectively. Increased peNDF intake did not affect feed sorting, but increased daily eating time, and eating and total chewing time per kilogram of DMI. Daily rumination time exhibited a quadratic response, with highest rumination time for the medium diet. Dietary PS had no effects on digestibility in the total tract, but we observed, for fine, medium, and long diets, quadratic responses in milk production (41.5, 43.3, and 40.4 kg/d), 4% fat-corrected milk production, and milk protein yield. Milk fat content decreased linearly with increasing PS, but milk fat content and fat:protein ratio were low for all treatments, likely due to adding unsaturated fat to a diet containing a high level of nonfiber carbohydrates (42.2% of DM). The composition, degree of saturation, and total conjugated linoleic acid content of fatty acids in milk fat were not affected by the change in peNDF content of the diet. The study indicates that a moderate increase in the PS of AH in diets containing unsaturated fat elevates peNDF intake and increases chewing activity, DMI, milk yield and milk fat production. However, the effects of dietary PS were quadratic, with maximum DMI and milk production observed with diets supplying 24% dietary peNDF (measured as the proportion of the ration retained on sieves >1.18 mm multiplied by dietary neutral detergent fiber content; DM basis).  相似文献

Recent studies report considerable variation in ruminal pH for lactating dairy cows even when fed the same diet. We hypothesized that blood metabolites would be indicators of low ruminal pH, and hence could be used as predictors to help manage this variability. The objective of the study was to determine whether blood metabolite concentrations, body reserves, and feed efficiency were associated with ruminal pH in high-producing dairy cows fed a high-concentrate diet. Seventy-eight individually fed lactating dairy cows (days in milk = 103 ± 27; body weight = 638 ± 77 kg at the start; mean ± SD) were fed a diet consisting of 35% forage and 65% concentrate (dry matter basis). Cows were adapted for 14 d and then were sampled for 10 d. Ruminal pH was measured by rumenocentesis for all cows at the end of the study 4 h after feeding, and reticular pH was measured on a subsample of 14 cows via indwelling sensors for 5 consecutive days. Cows were classified according to rumenocentesis pH as high (pH ≥ 6.0; n = 26), medium (5.8 ≤ pH < 6; n = 21), and low (pH < 5.8; n = 31). Cows were also classified according to reticular pH as high if pH <5.8 persisted <330 min/d (an average of 78 min/d; n = 5) or low if duration of pH <5.8 was ≥330 min/d (an average of 920 min/d; n = 9). The classification based on rumenocentesis pH revealed that serum activity of aspartate aminotransferase (AST) was greater in cows with low ruminal pH (70.7 U/L) than cows with high (56.6 U/L) and medium (59.9 U/L) ruminal pH. Also, the blood urea nitrogen concentration was greater in cows with low ruminal pH (13.6 mg/dL) than cows with medium (12.2 mg/dL) and high (12.5 mg/dL) ruminal pH. Blood albumin concentration was greater for cows with low ruminal pH than for cows with medium and high ruminal pH. The classification based on reticular pH also resulted in a trend of greater AST activity and greater blood urea nitrogen concentration in the blood of cows with low pH. Regression analysis showed high serum concentration of AST was associated with high valerate concentration in ruminal fluid (R2 = 0.14), low rumenocentesis pH (R2 = 0.10), and low milk fat percentage (R2 = 0.06). Glucose, triglyceride, cholesterol, globulin, alkaline phosphates, and serum amyloid A did not differ among the different ruminal pH classes. Low pH cows (reticular and ruminal) had less backfat thickness measured via ultrasound, and cows with low ruminal pH tended to have greater milk:feed ratio. Results indicated that cows that differ in ruminal pH also had different concentrations of blood metabolites and backfat thickness, and AST activity in blood may be a plausible indicator of ruminal pH in dairy cows. Further studies on the applicability of AST in blood as a biomarker for detecting low ruminal pH in dairy cows are warranted.  相似文献

In this study, optimization of spray drying for double emulsions containing pectin-whey protein concentrate (WPC) was investigated for nano-encapsulation of folic acid. Five independent variables including pectin and WPC content, dispersed phase content, pH, surfactant type of Span, and polyglycerol polyricinoleate (PGPR) were considered along with encapsulation efficiency (EE) as the main response. The experiment design was performed by a Taguchi approach. Final double emulsions were formulations containing an internal nano/micro-emulsion composed of a water in oil (W/O) system with folic acid present in the water phase, re-emulsified within an aqueous phase of pectin-WPC complexes. The average of folic acid EE was approximately 88.3 % in a range of 82.3 to 95.0 %. The main effect analysis with a Taguchi technique revealed that the dispersed phase content of double emulsions was the most important factor affecting EE (36 %) and surfactant had the minimum influence (5 %). Also, it was revealed that the most important interaction between independent variables in terms of EE was between WPC and dispersed phase content while pectin-pH had the lowest interaction. Finally, optimum conditions were determined as 1.0 % pectin, 4.0 % WPC, and 15 % dispersed phase, pH = 6, with a PGPR nano-emulsion which resulted in 99.0 % EE of folic acid.  相似文献

The objective of the present study was to establish a suitable procedure by which favism‐inducing glycosides vicine and convicine could be completely removed from whole seeds of faba beans without distorting their shape or reducing their nutritive value. Detoxification procedures carried out were extraction by water or, 10 g l?1 acid solutions (acetic, citric and phosphoric acid) using stepwise or continuous soaking procedures. Three cultivars of the beans were used in the study. In the stepwise soaking procedures, the seeds were soaked in either water or acid solution at 40 °C for different periods while in the continuous flow techniques, the solutions were constantly passed through a seed reservoir under different time–temperature–flow rate conditions. Extraction of vicine and convicine increased with increasing temperature and period of soaking and/or continuous flow of soaking solutions. Neither stepwise soaking nor autoclaving could effectively remove the favism factors from the whole seeds. The best results were obtained with continuous flow soaking in tap water, giving vicine‐ and convicine‐free seeds. The protein contents of treated seeds were only slightly affected and their physical structure remained intact. Thus, it was concluded that the latter procedure was the method of choice for detoxification of dry whole seeds. Copyright © 2005 Society of Chemical Industry  相似文献

To evaluate effects of different dry period lengths on milk yield, milk composition, and energy balance of dairy cows, 122 multiparous and primiparous Holstein dairy cows were used in a completely randomized experimental design with 56-, 42-, and 35-d dry period lengths. Actual dry period lengths for respective treatments (TRT) were 56 ± 5.1 d, 42 ± 2.1 d, and 35 ± 2.7 d. Overall, cows in the 42- and 56-d TRT gained more body condition than those in 35-d TRT during the dry period; however, postpartum body condition score did not change substantially among the TRT. Although from 3 to 210 DIM, differences were not detected in the milk yield of multiparous cows between the 35- and 56-d TRT, primiparous cows in the 35-d TRT produced less milk than those in 56-d TRT. In primiparous cows, the milk production at wk 9, 10, and 11 of lactation was lower in the 35-d compared with the 56-d TRT. Primiparous cows in the 35-d compared with the 56-d TRT produced less milk protein. In the 35-d TRT, serum triglyceride concentration was greater in primiparous cows than in multiparous cows during the peripartum period. Among primiparous cows, those in the 56-d TRT had greater concentrations of nonesterified fatty acids than those in the 35-d TRT during the peripartum period. No significant differences were observed in concentrations of serum glucose, insulin, and insulin-like growth factor-I during early lactation among TRT. There was also no difference among TRT for incidence of metabolic disorders. Thus, this study indicates that shortening the dry period to 35 d may be beneficial in multiparous and overconditioned cows, but not in primiparous cows.  相似文献
