A new microfocus X-ray testing method has been developed to detect very small defects in ceramic products with high speed and reliability. By using image subtraction, enhanced X-ray images of defects were extracted from the background noise. Much-better sensitivity (e.g., 0.1% in Si3N4 that was 20 mm thick) was obtained within a few minutes. This method is considerably superior to the conventional film method. In this study, Si3N4 test pieces (penetrameters) that had very small artificial defects (such as slits and pores) were prepared and examined by using the new method.  相似文献

Characterization of Low-Pressure Cold-Sprayed Aluminum Coatings   总被引:2,自引:0,他引:2  
Aluminum alloys are widely used as materials for engineering components of automobiles and airplanes because of their light weight and high corrosion resistance. However, cracks may develop sometimes in aluminum components, which have to be repaired by welding. It is difficult to weld aluminum components due to its high specific thermal conductivity and high coefficient of thermal expansion. The low-pressure cold-spray technique can be used instead of welding for repairing cracks. However, the effects of surface conditions on particle deposition and the mechanical properties of cold-sprayed coatings have not been investigated thus far. In this study, the effect of surface conditions focusing on active newly formed surface on aluminum particle deposition is studied and the mechanical properties of low-pressure cold-sprayed aluminum coatings are investigated by four-point bending tests. It is found that for efficient particle deposition it was necessary to obtain active newly formed surface of the substrate and particle surfaces by several impingements because the existence of inactive native oxide films has an adverse effect on the deposition. Furthermore, the strength of a cold-sprayed specimen is found to be higher than that of a cold-rolled specimen under compressive loading.  相似文献

A trace amount of vapor-grown carbon fibers (VGCFs), which, as received, had an aggregated lump form, was completely dispersed in polydimethylsiloxane, a nonpolar viscous liquid, at room temperature by mechanical stirring. Using this uniformly dispersed sample as a starting material, a dc electric or magnetic field was applied to induce the formation of an aligned structure. In situ transmission optical microscopy was carried out to observe the structural development of VGCFs in polydimethylsiloxane under the dc electric or magnetic field, which was applied both parallel and perpendicular to the observation direction. Upon application of a dc electric field, an aligned ramified network structure of VGCFs developed between the electrodes. In the formation of the network structure, ends of VGCFs became connected to ends of other VGCFs, which was followed by rotation and orientation of the VCGFs. On the other hand, upon application of a magnetic field, the VGCFs were only rotated, without the formation of a network. The electric resistivity of the network structure was evaluated. Additionally, the influence of the viscosity of the polydimethylsiloxane matrix on the structural formation process was examined.  相似文献

We report herein the extremely unusual case of a patient with hemophilia A who developed a hematoma ileus soon after undergoing an emergency total gastrectomy. Postoperatively, the patient was found to have an obstruction in the small intestine that was difficult to differentiate from intussusception. Reoperation revealed the cause of the obstruction to be a large blood clot. This case report serves to demonstrate that careful hemostasis and observation during surgery is essential in patients with hemophilia.  相似文献

Human pituitary adenylate cyclase-activating polypeptide (PACAP) receptor was expressed in Sf9 insect cells and Chinese hamster ovary (CHO) cells. The recombinant receptor in Sf9 cell membranes had low affinity for 125I-PACAP27 (Kd = 155.3 pM) and was insensitive to guanosine 5'-O-3-thiotriphosphate (GTPgammaS), whereas the receptor in CHO membranes had a high affinity (Kd = 44.4 pM) and was GTPgammaS sensitive. The receptor in Sf9 membranes was converted to a high affinity state (Kd = 20-40 pM) following solubilization with digitonin. A large quantity (2 mg from 8 liters of insect cells) of the purified PACAP receptors (Bmax = 23.9 nmol/mg of protein) were obtained in a digitonin-induced high affinity state (Kd = 17.3 pM) using biotinylated ligand affinity chromatography. The apparent molecular weight of the purified receptor (Mr = 48,000) was smaller than that of the receptor from CHO cells (Mr = 58,000) due to differences in asparagine-linked sugar chains. The purified receptor reverted to a low affinity state (Kd = 182.6 pM) upon reconstitution into lipid vesicles, however, the receptor reconstituted with Gs protein had a high affinity (Kd = 40.2 pM) and was GTPgammaS sensitive. [35S]GTPgammaS binding to the reconstituted Gs protein was enhanced by PACAP27 and PACAP38 (EC50 = 42.5 and 9.4 pM, respectively) but not by antagonist PACAP(6-38), indicating that the purified receptor was functionally active.  相似文献

We describe a pulse-echo ultrasound method for measuring nonlinear waveform distortion. First, two artificially distorted ultrasound pulses, one of which is transformed into the other by using a linear transform, are prepared prior to the measurement. The linear relationship does not hold for nonlinear propagation. Second, different initial-phase versions of the two pulses are separately transmitted to a specimen one after another, then the echoes with the same turnaround time are placed in order of the initial phase. The placed echoes, called a phase series, have complete information on the posterior waveform distortion. We formulate a waveform distortion index by using these two techniques. The waveform distortion index has a monotonic increasing relationship with the nonlinear parameter B/A. As an example application, we performed tissue characterization of boiled eggs. As a result, egg whites and yolks were clearly distinguished. This method should be useful for biological tissue characterization.  相似文献

The presence of natural estrogens, 17beta-estradiol (E2), estrone (E1) and estriol (E3), as well as estrogenic activity in wastewater influents and secondary effluents were investigated in 20 full-scale wastewater treatment plants in Japan. In all of the influent samples, natural estrogens were detected at concentrations above the minimum limits of detection (0.5ng/L). The concentrations of natural estrogens detected in the effluent of oxidation ditch plants were generally lower than previously reported values. On the other hand, in the conventional activated sludge plants, increments of E1 during biological treatment were frequently observed although E2 and E3 were removed effectively in the process. The removal rates of natural estrogens or estrogenic activity show no observed statistical relationship with the solids retention time (SRT) and the hydraulic retention time (HRT). However, the plants with high SRT or HRT generally showed high and stable removal of both natural estrogens and estrogenic activity.  相似文献

To investigate intratumoral differences in indices of tumor cell proliferation, we measured the bromodeoxyuridine labeling index (BrdUrd LI), the Ki-67 protein proliferating cell indices (PCIs) determined by monoclonal antibody MIB 1 in microwave-processed paraffin sections (MIB 1 PCI) and in some cases by monoclonal antibody in frozen sections (Ki-67 PCI), and counts of argyrophilic nucleolar organizer regions (AgNORs) in 20 glioblastomas. In the most actively proliferating areas, MIB 1 and Ki-67 PCIs correlated well with the BrdUrd LI and with each other, while AgNOR counts correlated less strongly with these indices. In less active areas, the MIB 1 PCI and BrdUrd LI changed concomitantly from one area to another within a tumor except in areas of pseudopalisading with necrosis; in these areas the BrdUrd LI decreased significantly compared with neighboring tumor tissue, while the MIB 1 PCI did not. There was very little staining of gemistocytic nuclei with either anti-BrdUrd or MIB 1 monoclonal antibodies; this supports the concept that gemistocytes are mainly quiescent cells. AgNORs in all of the above-mentioned areas varied from tumor to tumor, which suggests that they may indicate some cellular activity other than proliferation. The close correlation between the BrdUrd LI and Ki-67 protein PCIs in corresponding regions of glioblastomas suggests that MIB 1 staining of microwave-processed paraffin sections can be used to evaluate the growth potential of individual glioblastomas and possibly of other gliomas as well.  相似文献
