Abstract

Context: Flutamide is a potent anti-androgen with the several unwanted side effects in systemic administration, therefore, it has attracted special interest in the development of topically applied formulations for the treatment of androgenic alopecia.

Objective: The purpose of this study was to prepare and characterize the solid lipid nanoparticles (SLNs) of Flutamide for follicular targeting in the treatment of the androgenic alopecia.

Methods: Flutamide-loaded SLNs, promising drug carriers for topical application were prepared by hot melt homogenization method. Drug permeation and accumulation in the exercised rat skin and histological study on the male hamsters were performed to assess drug delivery efficiency in vitro and in vivo, respectively.

Results: The optimized Flutamide-loaded SLNs (size 198?nm, encapsulation efficiency percentage 65% and loading efficiency percentage 3.27%) exhibited a good stability during the period of at least 2 months. The results of X-ray diffraction showed Flutamide amorphous state confirming uniform drug dispersion in the SLNs structure. Higher skin drug deposition (1.75 times) of SLN formulation compared to Flutamide hydroalcoholic solution represented better localization of the drug in the skin. The in vivo studies showed more new hair follicle growth by utilizing Flutamide-loaded SLNs than Flutamide hydroalcoholic solution which could be due to the higher accumulation of SLNs in the hair follicles as well as slowly and continues release of the Flutamide through the SLNs maximizing hair follicle exposure by antiandrogenic drug.

Conclusion: It was concluded Flutamide-loaded SLN formulation can be used as a promising colloidal drug carriers for topical administration of Flutamide in the treatment of androgenic alopecia.  相似文献

The quasi equilibrium of a liquid lens or a liquid drop on a solid substrate is considered on the basis of the thermodynamics of microscopic thin liquid films. Both contact angles, corresponding to the membrane model and to the finite thickness layer convention of the film, have been derived as a function of the disjoining pressure isotherm. The analytical expressions for the line tension terms have been obtained, and the criterion for the stability of a liquid drop on a solid substrate has been proposed.  相似文献

We demonstrate the direct immobilization of glucose oxidase and lactate oxidase onto photoresists commonly used in microfabrication. The method allows for a cost-effective, facile inclusion of enzyme functionality into novel MEMS devices because it does not require any chemical or physical pre-treatment of surfaces, and it is largely compatible with existing fabrication technologies. We used fluorescence imaging and absorbance spectrometry to confirm attachment of the enzymes onto the photoresists and to determine their activity. In addition, the procedure was used to successfully integrate enzyme functionality into a photoresist-based biosensor. This further demonstrates the effectiveness of the approach, and opens a path towards other novel applications in MEMS research.  相似文献

A compilation of the nuclear spins of ground and isomeric states measured by direct methods is presented. The first compilation of direct measurements of nuclear spins and moments was published in 1976 (G. H. Fuller, J. Phys. Chem. Ref. Data 5, 835, (1976)) with literature covered up to 1974. To our knowledge, the present work is the first such compilation since then. It is anticipated that the area of direct spin measurement will continue to expand using the state-of-the-art radioactive ion-beam and laser techniques. Literature cutoff date for the present compilation is February 2013. It is intended that the present compilation will be kept updated in a timely manner.  相似文献

The hot deformation behavior of a high strength low carbon steel was investigated using hot compression test at the temperature range of 850–1100 °C and under strain rates varying from 0.001 to 1 s?1. It was found that the flow curves of the steel were typical of dynamic recrystallization at the temperature of 950 °C and above; at tested strain rates lower than 1 s?1. A very good correlation between the flow stress and Zener–Hollomon parameter was obtained using a hyperbolic sine function. The activation energy of deformation was found to be around 390 kJ mol?1. The kinetics of dynamic recrystallization of the steel was studied by comparing it with a hypothetical dynamic recovery curve, and the dynamically fraction recrystallized was modeled by the Kolmogorov–Johnson–Mehl–Avrami relation. The Avrami exponent was approximately constant around 1.8, which suggested that the type of nucleation was one of site saturation on grain boundaries and edges.  相似文献

The performance of two tetrafluoroborate-based ionic liquids (ILs) as entrainers in the dehydration of water/ethanol azeotropic mixtures was evaluated. Isobaric vapor-liquid equilibrium (VLE) data were measured for the systems ethanol/water/1-butyl-3-methyl imidazolium tetrafluoroborate and ethanol/water /n-butylpyridinium tetrafluoroborate including the azeotropic region. VLE data for the ethanol/water, ethanol/IL, and water/IL binary mixtures were obtained at 100 kPa. The hydrolysis of the tetrafluoroborate anion was studied for both types of ILs by 19F NMR analysis. The hydrolysis of the tetrafluoroborate anion does not have much effect on the ethanol/water VLE. The 19F NMR analysis indicated that hydrolysis occurred at high mole fractions of water.  相似文献

Mutants of cellular retinoic acid‐binding protein II (CRABPII), engineered to bind all‐trans‐retinal as an iminium species, demonstrate photochromism upon irradiation with light at different wavelengths. UV light irradiation populates the cis‐imine geometry, which has a high pKa, leading to protonation of the imine and subsequent “turn‐on” of color. Yellow light irradiation yields the trans‐imine isomer, which has a depressed pKa, leading to loss of color because the imine is not protonated. The protein‐bound retinylidene chromophore undergoes photoinduced reversible interconversion between the colored and uncolored species, with excellent fatigue resistance.  相似文献

Seed oil content of globe artichoke and its composition were assessed under three irrigation regimes, including irrigation at 20, 50, and 80 % depletion of soil available water. Water deficit affected the phenological characteristics, amount and the quality of the oil as well as the phenolics and antioxidant activity of the leaves and capitula. The seed oil content ranged from 18.7 % in 80 % to 22.8 % in 20 % treatment. The fatty acid composition of oil was determined using gas chromatography (GC). The predominant fatty acids in the oil were linoleic (51.68 %), oleic (34.22 %), palmitic (9.94 %), and stearic (3.58 %). Water deficit leads to reduced oil content, linoleic acid, the unsaturated/saturated fatty acid ratio and the iodine value. On the other hand, some other fatty acids such as palmitic and oleic acid and also the ratio of oleic/linoleic acid were elevated due to water deficit. Higher antioxidant activity was observed in capitula (IC50 = 222.6 μg ml?1) in comparison to the leaves (IC50 = 285.8 μg ml?1). Finally, the severe drought stress condition caused to gain higher oil stability, while the highest seed oil content and unsaturated fatty acids in the oil was obtained in non‐stress condition. Moreover, high phenolics, flavonoids and antioxidant activity as well as appreciable dry matter content were obtained in the moderate water stress condition.  相似文献
