The Soot Particle Aerosol Mass Spectrometer (SP-AMS) was developed to measure the chemical and physical properties of particles containing refractory black carbon (rBC). The SP-AMS is an Aerodyne Aerosol Mass Spectrometer (AMS) equipped with an intracavity laser vaporizer (1064 nm) based on the Single Particle Soot Photometer (SP2) design, in addition to the resistively heated, tungsten vaporizer used in a standard AMS. The SP-AMS can be operated with the laser vaporizer alone, with both the laser and tungsten vaporizers, or with the tungsten vaporizer alone. When operating with only the laser vaporizer, the SP-AMS is selectively sensitive to laser-light absorbing particles, such as ambient rBC-containing particles as well as metal nanoparticles, and measures both the refractory and nonrefractory components. When operated with both vaporizers and modulating the laser on and off, the instrument measures the refractory components of absorbing particles and the nonrefractory particulate matter of all sampled particles. The SP-AMS design, mass spectral interpretation, calibration, and sensitivity are described. Instrument calibrations yield a sensitivity of greater than 140 carbon ions detected per picogram of rBC mass sampled, a 3σ detection limit of less than 0.1 μg·m?3 for 60 s averaging, and a mass-specific ionization efficiency relative to particulate nitrate of 0.2 ± 0.1. Sensitivities were found to vary depending upon laser-particle beam overlap. The utility of the instrument to characterize ambient rBC aerosol is demonstrated. Background
This study aimed to investigate the relationship of anemia and body mass index among adult women in Jiangsu Province, China. Data were collected in a sub-national cross-sectional survey, and 1,537 women aged 20 years and above were included in the analyses. Subjects were classified by body mass index (BMI) categories as underweight, normal weight, overweight and obese according to the Chinese standard. Central obesity was defined as a waist circumference?≥?80 cm. Anemia was defined as hemoglobin concentration?<?12 g/dl. Prevalence ratios (PRs) of the relationship between anemia and BMI or waist circumference were calculated using Poisson regression.Findings
Overall, 31.1% of the Chinese women were anemic. The prevalence of overweight, obesity and central obesity was 34.2%, 5.8% and 36.2%, respectively. The obese group had the highest concentrations of hemoglobin compared with other BMI groups. After adjustment for confounders, overweight and obese women had a lower PR for anemia (PR: 0.72, 95% CI: 0.62-0.89; PR: 0.59, 95% CI: 0.43-0.79). Central obesity was inversely associated with anemia.Conclusion
In this Chinese population, women with overweight/obesity or central obesity were less likely to be anemic as compared to normal weight women. No measures are required currently to target anemia specifically for overweight and obese people in China. 相似文献43.

The use of disulphide polymers, a low redox potential responsive delivery, is one strategy for targeting drugs to the colon so that they are specifically released there. The objective of this study was to synthesise a new cross-linked disulphide-containing polymer based on the amino acid cysteine as a colon drug delivery system and to evaluate the efficiency of the polymers for colon targeted drug delivery under the condition of a low redox potential. The disulphide cross-linked polymers were synthesised via air oxidation of 1,2-ethanedithiol and 3-mercapto-N-2-(3-mercaptopropionamide)-3-mercapto propionic anhydride (trithiol monomers) using different ratio combinations. Four types of polymers were synthesised: P10, P11, P151, and P15. All compounds synthesised were characterised by NMR, IR, LC-MS, CHNS analysis, Raman spectrometry, SEM-EDX, and elemental mapping. The synthesised polymers were evaluated in chemical reduction studies that were performed in zinc/acetic acid solution. The suitability of each polymer for use in colon-targeted drug delivery was investigated in vitro using simulated conditions. Chemical reduction studies showed that all polymers were reduced after 0.5–1.0 h, but different polymers had different thiol concentrations. The bacterial degradation studies showed that the polymers were biodegraded in the anaerobic colonic bacterial medium. Degradation was most pronounced for polymer P15. This result complements the general consensus that biodegradability depends on the swellability of polymers in an aqueous environment. Overall, these results suggest that the cross-linked disulphide-containing polymers described herein could be used as coatings for drugs delivered to the colon. 相似文献

Recycling industrial solid waste not only saves resources but also eliminates environmental concerns of toxic threats. Herein, we proposed a new strategy for the utilization of petrochemical-derived carbon black waste, a waste vanadium-bearing resource (V > 30000 ppm (10 −6)). Chemical leaching was employed to extract metallic vanadium from the waste and the leachate containing V was used as an alternative raw material for the fabrication of vanadate nanomaterials. Through the screening of various metal cations, it was found that the contaminated Na+ during the leaching process showed strong competitive coordination with the vanadium ions. However, by adding foreign Ce3+ and Y3+ cations, two rare-earth vanadates, viz., flower-like CeVO4 and spherical YVO4 nanomaterials, were successfully synthesized. Characterization techniques such as scanning electron microscopy, transmission electron microscopy, X-ray diffraction, energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy, Fourier-transform infrared, and N2 physisorption were applied to analyze the physicochemical properties of the waste-derived nanomaterials. Importantly, we found that rare-earth vanadate catalysts exhibited good activities toward the semi-hydrogenation of α,β-unsaturated aldehydes. The conversion of cinnamaldehyde and cinnamic alcohol selectivity were even higher than those of the common CeVO4 prepared using pure chemicals (67.2% vs. 27.7% and 88.4% vs. 53.5%). Conventional biodiesel production methods utilize alcohol as acyl acceptor and produces glycerol as side product. Hence, with escalating production of biodiesel throughout the world, it leads to oversupply of glycerol and subsequently causes devaluation in the market. In this study, methyl acetate was employed as acyl acceptor in non-catalytic supercritical methyl acetate (SCMA) process to produce fatty acid methyl esters (FAME) and side product of triacetin, a valuable fuel additive instead of glycerol. Consequently, the properties of biodiesel produced (FAME and triacetin) are superior compared to conventional biodiesel method (FAME only). In this research, the effects of reaction temperature, reaction time and molar ratio of methyl acetate to oil on the yield of biodiesel were investigated. Apart from that, the influence of impurities commonly found in waste oils/fats such as free fatty acids and water were studied as well and compared with methanol-based reactions of supercritical and heterogeneous catalysis. Results show that biodiesel yields in SCMA process could achieve 99 wt.% when the operating conditions were fixed at 400 °C/220 bar for reaction temperature, methyl acetate/oil molar ratio of 30:1 and 60 min of reaction time. Furthermore, SCMA did not suffer from adverse effect with the presence of impurities, proving that SCMA has a high tolerance towards contamination which is crucial to allow the utilization of inexpensive waste oils/fats as biodiesel feedstock. 相似文献

This article presents a laboratory evaluation of conventional, fundamental, rheological, and morphological characteristics of styrene‐butadiene‐styrene (SBS) and ethylene vinyl acetate (EVA) polymer modified bitumens. Polymer modified bitumen (PMB) samples have been produced by mixing a 50/70 penetration grade unmodified (base) bitumen with SBS and EVA copolymer at different polymer contents. The fundamental viscoelastic properties of the PMBs were determined using dynamic (oscillatory) mechanical analysis and presented in the form of temperature and frequency‐dependent rheological parameters. The morphology of the samples as well as the percent area distribution of polymers throughout the base bitumen have been characterized and determined by means of fluorescent light optic microscopy and Qwin Plus image analysis software, respectively. The results indicated that polymer modification improved the conventional and rheological properties of the base bitumen. It was also concluded that the temperature and frequency had a significant effect on complex modulus of PMBs. The behavior of EVA and SBS PMBs had exhibited quite difference at 50°C. Moreover, it was found out that at low polymer contents, the samples revealed the existence of dispersed polymer particles in a continuous bitumen phase, whereas at high polymer contents a continuous polymer phase has been observed. © 2011 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Low-defect graphene (G) was prepared via the thermal reduction of expanded graphite in a carbon monoxide environment. G exfoliated and suspended in p-xylene was compounded in polyamide-6 (PA6) with filler content ranging from 0.1 to 6%·w/w. Interactions between G and PA6 were characterized via Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). Elastic modulus (E) had increased with increasing G content, and had exceeded idealized Halpin–Tsai predictions at 0.1–1.0%·w/w G content, indicating good dispersion and filler–matrix interactions. However, further analysis with a modified rule-of-mixtures (RoM) mathematical model indicate that the quality of filler–matrix interface had been suboptimal and had deteriorated drastically with increasing G content. The evaluation of interface quality is in agreement with observed changes in thermal behavior trends. Three‐phase ceramic composites constituted from equal volume fractions of α‐Al2O3, MgAl2O4 spinel, and cubic 8 mol% Y2O3‐stabilized ZrO2 (8YSZ) were flash‐sintered under the influence of DC electric fields. The temperature for the onset of rapid densification (flash sintering) was measured using a constant heating rate at fields of 50‐500 V/cm. The experiments were carried out by heating the furnace at a constant rate. Flash sintering occurred at a furnace temperature of 1350°C at a field of 100 V/cm, which dropped to 1150°C at a field of 500 V/cm. The sintered densities ranged from 90% to 96%. Higher electric fields inhibited grain growth due to the lowering of the flash temperature and an accelerated sintering rate. During flash sintering, alumina reacted with the spinel phase to form a high‐alumina spinel solid solution, identified by electron dispersive spectroscopy and from a decrease in the spinel lattice parameter as measured by X‐ray diffraction. It is proposed that the solid solution reaction was promoted by a combination of electrical field and Joule heating. 相似文献

Herein, we report the synthesis of poly(4‐vinylphenylboronic acid) (PVPBA) and poly[2‐(dimethylamino)ethyl methacrylate] (PDMAEMA) homopolymers, copolymers, and their methyl, pentyl, and octyl quaternized forms as dopant in water‐based permanent antibacterial paints. Both quaternized and nonquaternized forms of P(VPBA‐co‐DMAEMA) copolymers have reflected higher MIC values relative to PDMAEMA homopolymers. High molecular weight copolymers were more active against Escherichia coli ATCC 25922, contrarily, lower molecular weight copolymers showed higher antibacterial activity against Staphylococcus aureus ATCC 25923. The paint films prepared with quaternized PDMAEMA homopolymers with a weight of 10% showed better antibacterial activity in water and airborne tests than the copolymers. However, it has been shown that the inadequate anti‐biofilm properties of homopolymer‐containing paint films are overcome with the VPBA content of the copolymer structure and the most effective antibacterial and anti‐biofilm properties have been obtained with paint films containing P(VPBA‐co‐5QDMAEMA) copolymers. These paint films, which can maintain antibacterial and anti‐biofilm properties for at least 1 year, have the potential to be an alternative to Ag/Cl based solid surfaces which require the active substance to be regenerated. © 2018 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
