Visual cryptography and (k,n)-visual secret sharing schemes were introduced by Naor and Shamir (Advances in Cryptology — Eurocrypt 94, Springer, Berlin, 1995, pp. 1–12). A sender wishing to transmit a secret message distributes n transparencies amongst n recipients, where the transparencies contain seemingly random pictures. A (k,n)-scheme achieves the following situation: If any k recipients stack their transparencies together, then a secret message is revealed visually. On the other hand, if only k−1 recipients stack their transparencies, or analyze them by any other means, they are not able to obtain any information about the secret message. The important parameters of a scheme are its contrast, i.e., the clarity with which the message becomes visible, and the number of subpixels needed to encode one pixel of the original picture. Naor and Shamir constructed (k,k)-schemes with contrast 2−(k−1). By an intricate result from Linial (Combinatorica 10 (1990) 349–365), they were also able to prove the optimality of these schemes. They also proved that for all fixed kn, there are (k,n)-schemes with contrast . For k=2,3,4 the contrast is approximately and . In this paper, we show that by solving a simple linear program, one is able to compute exactly the best contrast achievable in any (k,n)-scheme. The solution of the linear program also provides a representation of a corresponding scheme. For small k as well as for k=n, we are able to analytically solve the linear program. For k=2,3,4, we obtain that the optimal contrast is at least and . For k=n, we obtain a very simple proof of the optimality of Naor's and Shamir's (k,k)-schemes. In the case k=2, we are able to use a different approach via coding theory which allows us to prove an optimal tradeoff between the contrast and the number of subpixels.  相似文献

We have validated a new semiautomated method for quantification of volumetric flow applied to multiplane transesophageal color Doppler mapping. This Doppler technique assumes only the incompressibility of the fluid and includes variations of flow area. By computing velocity vectors across a surface normal to the point of scanning, volumetric flow can be measured independently of the angle of incidence between the ultrasonic beam and the direction of blood flow. Mitral valvular flow rate was measured during surgery by transesophageal color Doppler echocardiography in 27 patients undergoing coronary artery bypass grafting at 45 sets of observations. The results were compared with those obtained by the thermodilution technique. The mean of the differences between the thermodilution technique and color Doppler echocardiography was 0.06 +/- 0.866 L/min for the mitral valvular flows (mean of differences [thermodilution-color Doppler] &/- 2 SDs of differences). Thus mitral valvular volumetric flow measured by this color Doppler method showed a close agreement to the thermodilution technique during surgery.  相似文献

The preparation and characterization of electrospun polyacrylonitrile (PAN)/platinum(II) acetylacetonate composite nanofibers were investigated. The solution properties, such as viscosity, surface tension, and conductivity, of Pt‐acetylacetonate‐added PAN solutions in N,N‐dimethylformamide were measured, and their influences on the resulting fiber structure were also determined. At low Pt salt concentrations, the addition of Pt salt increased the fiber diameter but did not change the fiber diameter distribution. However, the fiber diameter decreased, and the fiber diameter distribution became broader when the Pt salt concentration went beyond a critical value. The structure of the electrospun fibers was determined by the formation of polymer–salt– solvent interactions, which changed the balance among the viscosity, surface tension, and conductivity of the solutions. © 2009 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. A relatively simple method to determine the length distribution of carbon nanotubes (CNTs) before and after melt processing was developed. This involves the selection of a suitable solvent for dispersing pristine CNTs as well as to dissolve the matrix of melt mixed composites and the choice of an appropriate nanotube concentration. The length of suitably individualized CNTs was visualized using transmission electron microscopy and length distributions were measured using image analysis. Examples are shown for Baytubes® C150HP and Nanocyl™ NC7000 and their melt mixed composites with polycarbonate where the same procedure was applied to both, measuring the initial length distribution and the distribution after recovering from the composites. These results indicated a significant shortening after melt processing up to 30% of the initial length.  相似文献

We used in vitro translation and antibodies against phosphoserine and the eukaryotic initiation factors elF-4E, elF-4G, and elF-2 alpha to examine the effects of global brain ischemia and reperfusion on translation initiation and its regulation in a rat model of 10 min of cardiac arrest followed by resuscitation and 90 min of reperfusion. Translation reactions were performed on postmitochondrial supernatants from brain homogenates with and without aurintricarboxylic acid to separate incorporation due to run-off from incorporation due to peptide synthesis initiated in vitro. The rate of leucine incorporation due to in vitro-initiated protein synthesis in normal forebrain homogenates was approximately 0.4 fmol of leucine/min/microgram of protein and was unaffected by 10 min of cardiac arrest, but 90 min of reperfusion reduced this rate 83%. Sodium dodecyl sulfate-polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis and western blots of these homogenates showed that neither 10 min of global brain ischemia nor 90 min of reperfusion induced significant alterations in the quantity or serine phosphorylation of elF-4E. However, we observed in all 90-min-reperfused samples elF-4G fragments that also bound elF-4E. The amount of elF-2 alpha was not altered by ischemia or reperfusion, and immunoblotting after isoelectric focusing did not detect serine-phosphorylated elF-2 alpha in normal samples or in those obtained after ischemia without reperfusion. However, serine-phosphorylated elF-2 alpha was uniformly present after 90 min of reperfusion and represented 24 +/- 3% of the elF-2 alpha in these samples. The serine phosphorylation of elF-2 alpha and partial fragmentation of elF-4G observed after 90 min of reperfusion offer an explanation for the inhibition of protein synthesis.  相似文献

Social resource sharing systems are central elements of the Web 2.0 and use the same kind of lightweight knowledge representation, called folksonomy. Their large user communities and ever-growing networks of user-generated content have made them an attractive object of investigation for researchers from different disciplines like Social Network Analysis, Data Mining, Information Retrieval or Knowledge Discovery. In this paper, we summarize and extend our work on different aspects of this branch of Web 2.0 research, demonstrated and evaluated within our own social bookmark and publication sharing system BibSonomy, which is currently among the three most popular systems of its kind. We structure this presentation along the different interaction phases of a user with our system, coupling the relevant research questions of each phase with the corresponding implementation issues. This approach reveals in a systematic fashion important aspects and results of the broad bandwidth of folksonomy research like capturing of emergent semantics, spam detection, ranking algorithms, analogies to search engine log data, personalized tag recommendations and information extraction techniques. We conclude that when integrating a real-life application like BibSonomy into research, certain constraints have to be considered; but in general, the tight interplay between our scientific work and the running system has made BibSonomy a valuable platform for demonstrating and evaluating Web 2.0 research.  相似文献
