Alumina supported cobalt catalysts were prepared by atomic layer deposition (ALD) of cobalt acetylacetonate precursors (Co(acac)2 and Co(acac)3). The main modes of interaction between the acetylacetonate precursors and the support were found to be the exchange reaction between the alumina OH-groups and the acac-ligands of the precursor and dissociative adsorption on coordinatively unsaturated Al3+ sites. The amount of precursor that could adsorb on the support was determined by steric hindrance. Samples were prepared using 1–5 reaction cycles, i.e. subsequent precursor addition (Co(acac)2) and calcination, resulting in catalysts containing ca. 3–10 wt.% Co. Samples were also prepared where the last calcination step was omitted, i.e. uncalcined catalysts. Calcination at 450 °C decreased the reducibility of the Co(acac)2/Al2O3 catalysts due to formation of a cobalt oxide phase strongly interacting with the support and aluminate type surface species. The reducibility increased with metal loading on both calcined and uncalcined catalysts; however the reducibility of the calcined catalysts remained lower than of the uncalcined ones. The dispersion was found to be lower on the calcined catalysts. The cobalt particle sizes on the calcined samples was ca. 8 nm and on the uncalcined 4–5 nm, for cobalt loadings of ca. 6–10 wt.%. Catalytic activity was tested by gas phase hydrogenation of toluene in temperature programmed mode (30–150 °C).  相似文献

The objective of this study was to evaluate the effect of a low-moisture buffer block on ruminal pH and milk production in cows induced with subacute ruminal acidosis (SARA). Sixteen ruminally cannulated cows were randomly assigned to treatment (access to buffer blocks) or control (no buffer blocks). Ruminal pH was recorded each minute; dry matter intake (DMI), milk yield, and milk composition were measured daily. The experiment lasted 12 d and consisted of a 3-d pre-SARA period (without access to buffer blocks; d 1 to 3), after which 8 cows were given access to buffer blocks and 8 cows continued without access to buffer blocks. The next 4 d (d 4 to 7) were for evaluating the response to buffer blocks. On d 8, cows were restricted to 50% of previous DMI, and on d 9 SARA was induced (addition of 4 kg of wheat/barley pellet to pre-SARA total mixed ration (TMR). Cows were then monitored for a 3-d recovery period (d 10 to 12). The SARA challenge was successful in decreasing mean ruminal pH and time and area below pH 5.6. Intake of buffer blocks averaged 0.33 kg of DM/cow per day and was greatest on d 4 and d 8. Total DMI (TMR plus buffer block) and yields of milk and milk components were not affected by treatment. Although there was no overall effect of treatment on any of the ruminal pH variables measured, there were significant treatment by period interactions for several ruminal pH variables. Cows on the control treatment tended to experience a greater decrease in mean ruminal pH when induced with SARA than cows with access to buffer blocks (−0.55 vs. −0.20 pH units). Cows on the control treatment also experienced a greater increase in time (9.7 vs. 4.1 h/d) and area (249 vs. 83 min × pH units/d) below pH 5.6 compared with cows with access to buffer blocks. Ruminal volatile fatty acids, lactate, ethanol, and succinate concentrations during the SARA challenge did not differ between treatments. Eating behavior was not affected by treatment. Size of the first meal of the day was greater on the SARA challenge day than during the pre-SARA period (11.0 vs. 5.7 kg, as fed). Giving cows access to a buffer-containing molasses block may reduce the duration and the severity of a 1-d SARA challenge.  相似文献

In this study, the behavior of atmospheric pressure plasma treated surfaces of Wood-Polymer Composites (WPC) was investigated as a function of time and environmental conditions. The surfaces of injection molded WPC based on polypropylene (PP) and polyethylene (PE) were treated by a dielectric barrier discharge (DBD) and subsequently aged under various conditions. The wettability as an indicator for change of the composite surface was assessed using water contact angle. In addition, a calculation for half-time of the contact angles was developed to predict the time span which is needed for recovery of hydrophobicity. The results showed a major influence of temperature and time, whereas the humidity only at storing conditions of 60?°C and 75% relative humidity showed a distinct effect on the activated surface. The effect of DBD treatment was stable for more than one week in the climates 20?°C and 0% RH and 20?°C and 65% RH.  相似文献

The stability of N-[(morpholine)methylene]-daunorubicin hydrochloride (MMD) was investigated in the pH range 0.44-13.54, at 313, 308, 303 and 298 K. The degradation of MMD as a result of hydrolysis is a pseudo-first-order reaction described by the following equation: ln c = ln c(0) - k(obs)? t. In the solutions of hydrochloric acid, sodium hydroxide, borate, acetate and phosphate buffers, k(obs) = k(pH) because general acid-base catalysis was not observed. Specific acid-base catalysis of MMD comprises the following reactions: hydrolysis of the protonated molecules of MMD catalyzed by hydrogen ions (k(1)) and spontaneous hydrolysis of MMD molecules other than the protonated ones (k(2)) under the influence of water. The total rate of the reaction is equal to the sum of partial reactions: k(pH) = k(1) ? a(H)+ ? f(1) + k(2) ? f(2) where: k(1) is the second-order rate constant (mol(-1) l s(-1)) of the specific hydrogen ion-catalyzed degradation of the protonated molecules of MMD; k(2) is the pseudo-first-order rate constant (s(-1)) of the water-catalyzed degradation of MMD molecules other than the protonated ones, f(1) - f(2) are fractions of the compound. Results from parallel tests with similar biological objects are frequently interrelated. If the data are discrete which is a typical situation in biological mass-screening, the information-theoretical concept of Shannon's entropy can be used to unreval redundancies within such test and to recognize tests with high informational content. This concept was applied to two examples from the screening for fungicidal activity, and the results were compared with activity-activity relationships obtained from pattern recognition and with variance analysis. There was good agreement, and the entropy calculation indeed yielded a very sensitive measure for the informational structure of the data. If the informational structure is known redundant tests may be eliminated. If the evaluation of quantitative structure-activity relationships is attempted it is furthermore possible to restrict the calculations to key tests with high information.  相似文献

The phenomenon of bacterial growth in water softeners is well known since years. To upgrade the hygienic safety of water softeners, the German DIN Standard 19636 was developed, to assure that the distribution system could not be contaminated by these devices and that the drinking water to be used in the household still meets the microbiological standards according to the German drinking water guidelines, i.e. among others heterotrophic plate count (HPC) below 100 CFU/ml. Moreover, the standard for the water softeners includes a test for contamination with Pseudomonas aeruginosa which has to be disinfected during the regeneration phase. This is possible by sanitizing the resin bed during regeneration by producing chlorine. The results of the last 10 years of tests of water softeners according to DIN 19636 showed that it is possible to produce water softeners that comply with that standard. Approximately 60% of the tested models were accepted. P. aeruginosa is used as an indicator for potentially pathogenic bacteria being able to grow also in low nutrient conditions which normally prevail in drinking water. Like other heterotrophs, the numbers of P. aeruginosa increase rapidly as stagnation occurs. Normally P. aeruginosa is not present in the distributed drinking water. However, under certain conditions, P. aeruginosa can be introduced into the drinking water distribution system, for instance, during construction work. The occurrence of P. aeruginosa is shown in different cases in treatment plants, public drinking water systems and in-house installations. The compliance with DIN 19636 provides assurance that a water softener will not be a constant source of contamination, even if it is once inoculated with a potentially pathogenic bacterium like P. aeruginosa.  相似文献

Forms of psychotherapy treatment are not neatly separable from one another in actual practice. They differ behaviorally in what they emphasize, but nevertheless they overlap and so cannot be unambiguously compared for effectiveness. Furthermore, forms of psychotherapy are not separable in practice from the therapists who apply them, so apparent differences in effectiveness between forms of treatment are always confounded by differences in effectiveness between therapists. Therapists, however, are separable from one another, and it is therapists not treatment forms that actually treat patients. Therefore, what should primarily be given preference in practice is not treatments empirically certified on the basis of their results in randomized clinical trials but psychotherapists empirically certified to practice on the basis of their results in actual practice.
