A ones adder is an important circuit block that is required in many varying applications. This work proposes a design that largely relies on passive transmission-gate multiplexers. Many variations are suggested that can inherently generate a thermometer coded output or one-hot encoded output. The proposed structure has area and power that increases with order n 2 for a n number of inputs. A folding technique is then suggested that reduces the area/power to order n log(n). The folded passive linear counter also has a cell-based structure that aids in layout and makes it possible to be added to a digital standard cell library.  相似文献

We report the electronic properties of a new class of non-fullerene electron acceptor molecules with electron affinities tunable over an approximately 1 eV range. This tunability allows us to vary the thermodynamic driving force for electron transfer (ΔG°) such that it is equal-and-opposite-to the reorganization energy for the ionized states (λ). We utilize this design principle, derived from Marcus–Hush theory, to optimize the rate of charge transfer in blends of these acceptors with poly(3-n-hexylthiophene-2,5-diyl) (P3HT) – a standard organic solar cell donor material. We show that computationally inexpensive calculations can be used to parameterize Marcus–Hush theory so as to correctly predict whether quenching will occur. Arguments based solely on energetics are common in the literature and we show that such theories do not predict the trends observed in our photoluminescence quenching experiments. This is the case whether the energies determined from experiments [cyclic voltammetry (CV) and the optical gap] or calculated from density functional theory for the solid state. We predict essentially barrier-less photoelectron transfer (PET) from P3HT to the acceptor 2-[{7-(9,9-di-n-propyl-9H-fluoren-2-yl)benzo[c] ,  and  thiadiazol-4-yl}methylene]malononitrile (or K12), consistent with the experimental photoluminescence quenching efficiencies found for P3HT:K12 blends. Our results clearly show that energetics alone is not sufficient to predict PET between the acceptor–donor pair, and that kinetics are an important determining factor.  相似文献

Within communities in Osun and Imo States of Nigeria, farmer–processors grew and processed a diverse set of improved and landrace cassava varieties into the locally popular foods, gari, eba and fufu. Local and 15 main varieties were grown in a ‘mother and baby trials’ design in each state. Mother trials with three replications were processed by farmer–processors renown in their community for their processing skills. Baby trials were managed and processed by other farmer–processors. The objective was to identify food quality criteria to inform demand-led breeding to benefit users, especially women, given their key roles in processing. Farmer–processors evaluated the overall quality of fresh roots and derived food products through pairwise comparisons. Improved varieties had higher fresh and dry root yield. Overall, landraces ranked first for quality of gari and eba, but several improved varieties were also appreciated for good quality. Landraces in Osun had higher gari yield and a higher swelling power compared to improved varieties. Colour (browning), bulk density, swelling power, solubility and water absorption capacity were the criteria most related to food product ranking by farmer–processors. Evaluation of varieties under farmer–processors’ conditions is crucial for providing guidance to breeders on critical selection criteria.  相似文献

How nonspore haploid Saccharomyces cells choose sites of budding and polarize towards pheromone signals in order to mate has been a subject of intense study. Unlike nonspore haploids, sibling spores produced via meiosis and sporulation by a diploid cell are physically interconnected and encased in a sac derived from the old cell wall of the diploid, called the ascus. Nonspore haploids bud adjacent to previous sites of budding, relying on stable cortical landmarks laid down during prior divisions, but because spore membranes are made de novo, it was assumed that, as is known for fission yeast, Saccharomyces spores break symmetry and polarize at random locations. Here, we show that this assumption is incorrect: Saccharomyces cerevisiae spores are born prepolarized to outgrow, prior to budding or mating, away from interspore bridges. Consequently, when spores bud within an intact ascus, their buds locally penetrate the ascus wall, and when they mate, the resulting zygotes adopt a unique morphology reflective of repolarization towards pheromone. Long‐lived cortical foci containing the septin Cdc10 mark polarity sites, but the canonical bud site selection programme is dispensable for spore polarity, thus the origin and molecular composition of these landmarks remain unknown. These findings demand further investigation of previously overlooked mechanisms of polarity establishment and local cell wall digestion and highlight how a key step in the Saccharomyces life cycle has been historically neglected.  相似文献

In association with the Department of Energy–funded Position of Offshore Wind Energy Resources (POWER) project, we present results from compositing a 3‐year dataset of 80‐m (above ground level) wind forecasts from the 3‐km High‐Resolution Rapid Refresh (HRRR) model over offshore regions for the contiguous United States. The HRRR numerical weather prediction system runs once an hour and features hourly data assimilation, providing a key advantage over previous model‐based offshore wind datasets. On the basis of 1‐hour forecasts from the HRRR model, we highlight the different climatological regimes of the nearshore environment, characterizing the mean 80‐m wind speed as well as the frequency of exceeding 4, 12, and 25 m s?1 for east and west coast, Gulf of Mexico, and Great Lake locations. Preliminary verification against buoy measurements demonstrates good agreement with observations. This dataset can inform the placement of targeted measurement systems in support of improving resource assessments and wind forecasts to advance offshore wind energy goals both in New England and other coastal regions of the United States.  相似文献

The Medication Adherence Questionnaire (MAQ) is a scale used to evaluate adherence to medications. The present study assessed the factor structure and validity of the MAQ with cigarette smokers. A principal components analysis was conducted on MAQ scores from a sample of smokers presenting for treatment in a clinical trial of naltrexone and nicotine patch for smoking cessation (N = 385). Indices of convergent and predictive validity were tested using electronic medication caps for naltrexone, nicotine patch counts, plasma drug levels of naltrexone, and treatment outcomes. The principal components analysis revealed two factors. Factor 1, labeled "unintentional nonadherence," measured the extent to which individuals were nonadherent because they were careless or forgot to take their medications. Factor 2, labeled "purposeful nonadherence," assessed nonadherence related to purposefully stopping medication use after feeling better or worse. Only the second factor was shown to have good convergent and predictive validity. Specifically, this factor was related to pill-taking behavior measured with electronic medication caps and drug plasma levels and nicotine patch use based on nicotine patch count data, and it was associated with smoking cessation outcome. Thus the purposeful nonadherence factor of the MAQ may be used as a brief screening tool for medication adherence with cigarette smokers seeking treatment. Information obtained with this questionnaire could be used to counsel patients regarding the importance of medication adherence.  相似文献
