DIVA is an expert system for turbine generator diagnosis. Its aim is to help a plant operator interpret vibration evolution to diagnose developing faults. Interpretation of vibration evolution is primarily a recognition process which is achieved by a particular model of heuristic classification. DIVA tries to recognize the observed situation among a hierarchy of typical situations.The purpose of this paper is to present the model we used for heuristic classification, based on prototypes. Prototypes represent typical problem situations and may also be seen as experts with special knowledge of what to do in such situations. We argue that this model presents significant advantages to deal with complex problems such as vibration surveillance.  相似文献

This study investigates the use of the solvent evaporation method for preparing acid and glycolic acid-based copolymer nanoparticles. Initially, appropriate technological and formulation factors for elaboration of polymeric particles were selected by screening. Most favourable results were obtained using polyvinyl alcohol as a dispersing agent and a high pressure homogenizer to reduce the droplet size of the emulsion initially formed. On the basis of the conclusion thus drawn, a composite rotational experimental design was employed to evaluate the joint influence of three formulation variables (phase volume ratio of the emulsion formed, polymer concentration and homogenization pressure) on the micromeritic properties of the suspension finally obtained (mean particle size, coefficient of variation and polydispersity of the particle size distribution). Analysis of variance corresponding to the experimental design, showed a significant influence of the volume phase ratio and the polymer concentration on the mean particle size and the coefficient of variation, whereas the polydispersity is also affected by the homogenization pressure. Considering this information, a 32 experimental factorial design was then selected to investigate the possible interaction between the phase volume ratio and the concentration of polyvinyl alcohol in the aqueous phase. Analysis of variance and subsequent sequencial regression analysis evidenced last hypothesis providing the way to determine the experimental conditions required to achieve a specific particle size distribution.  相似文献

While temperature is fundamental to the design and optimal operation of shallow algal ponds, there is currently no temperature model universally applicable to these systems. This paper presents a model valid for any opaque water body of uniform temperature profile. This new universal model was tested against 1 year of experimental data collected from a wastewater treatment high rate algal pond. On the basis of 1 year of data collected every 15 min, the average errors of the predicted afternoon peak and predawn minimum were both only 1.3 °C and the average error between these extremes was just 1.2 °C. In order to demonstrate the improvement in accuracy gained, the expressions for heat fluxes used in nine prior temperature models were systematically substituted into the new universal model and evaluated against the experimental data. Errors in the peak and minimum temperatures increased by up to 2.1 and 3.2 °C, respectively, while the error between these extremes increased by up to 2.9 °C. In practical applications, these levels of inaccuracies could lead to an under/overestimation of the algal productivity and the evaporative water loss by approximately 40% and 300%, respectively.  相似文献

Harvesting systems capable of transforming unused environmental energy into useful electrical energy have been extensively studied for the last two decades. The recent development of electrostrictive polymers has generated new opportunities for harvesting energy. The contribution of this study lies in the design and validation of electrostrictive polymer- based harvesters able to deliver dc output voltage to the load terminal, making the practical application of such material for self-powered devices much more realistic. Theoretical analysis supported by experimental investigations showed that an energy harvesting module with ac-to-dc conversion allows scavenging power up to 7 μW using a bias electric field of 10 V/μm and a transverse strain of 0.2%. This represents a power density of 280 μW/cm(3) at 100 Hz, which is much higher than the corresponding values of most piezo-based harvesters.  相似文献

We report on real-time control of balloon inflation inside porcine arteries. In the first step, experiments were done in a coronary artery of an excised heart. In the second step, experiments were done in a beating heart setup providing conditions very close to in vivo conditions without the complications. A programmable syringe pump was used to inflate a compliant balloon in arteries, while intravascular optical coherence tomography (IVOCT) monitoring was performed. In a feedback loop, IVOCT images were processed to provide the balloon diameter values in real time to control the pump action in order to achieve a target diameter. In different experiments, various flow rates and target diameters were used. In the excised heart experiment, there was good convergence to target diameters resulting in a satisfactory balloon inflation control. In the beating heart experiment, there were oscillations in the diameter values due to cyclic arterial contractions. In these experiments, the control system maintained diameter averages satisfactorily close to predetermined target values. Real-time control of balloon inflation could not only provide a safer outcome for angioplasty procedures, but could also provide additional information for diagnostics since it implicitly provides information about the artery response to the inflation process.  相似文献

Precise measurements of the cosmic microwave background (CMB) is crucial to cosmology, since any proposed model of the Universe must account for the features of this radiation. E_cient very large bolometer arrays (>10,000?pixels) constitute an important challenge for CMB observations and are actually developed by many groups worldwide. We present here an explorative new bolometer design based on a structure that simplifies the fabrication process and exhibits high sensitivity. This innovative device replaces delicate membrane-based structures and eliminates the mediation of phonons: the incoming energy is directly captured and measured in the electron bath of an appropriate sensor and the thermal decoupling is achieved via the intrinsic electron-phonon decoupling of the sensor at very low temperature. Reported results come from a 204-pixel matrix of Nb x Si1?x transition edge sensors with a meander structure fabricated on a 2-inch silicon wafer using electron-beam co-evaporation and standard lithography process. To validate the application to CMB measurements, we have realized an optical calibration of our sample in the focal plane of a dilution cryostat test bench.  相似文献

Control of the emission wavelength of a random laser (RL) system over a 7-nm waveband is demonstrated using a green-emitting π-conjugated polymer infiltrated into a photonic glass formed by nano/micro-size monodisperse silica spheres. The use of a solution-based conjugated polymer enables the complete filling of the voids within the photonic glass without suffering from quenching and the gain can therefore be maximized. The emission wavelength of these structures is set by a combination of the material system spectral gain and of the transport mean free path, the latter being controlled by the mean diameter of the spheres in the nano-scale range. Transport mean free paths of photons in the RL’s active region are calculated using Mie scattering theory and corroborated with coherent backscattering measurements. Further wavelength modification is also possible by changing the pump spot size and the pump fluence.  相似文献
