The residual stress state of brazed ceramic/metal compounds is described by means of X-ray residual stress determinations and analytical calculations using a model of three elastic infinite plates. It is shown that the residual stress state of the soldered compound depends on the materials combination and on the geometrical conditions. The combination of X-ray residual stress measurements and analytical calculations allows decisions on whether the assumption of a linear elastic model, based on elementary bending theory, is valid for the particular compounds. 相似文献

This review article provides an overview of various novel nanowire array solar cells and highlights the aspects of electromagnetic simulations that are a valuable tool for understanding the optical processes leading to their distinct properties. As the computational methods commonly used for the task are well established, we focus on the question how numerical modeling can be used to assess the performance of a design and reveal the working principle of the devices. Indroduction The signal-to-noise ratio of in vivo diffusion tensor imaging (DTI) is usually very limited, especially if high resolution
data is acquired. In a variety of settings, the signal of diffusion weighted images can drop below the background noise level
yielding an underestimated diffusion constant. In this work, we report two new artefacts in DTI that are important in this
regime.
Methods Both artifacts are described analytically and numerically and are demonstrated in DTI phantoms and in subjects in vivo.
Results First, eigenvectors are systematically shifted towards distinct ‘attractive’ orientations of the gradient scheme. Second,
certain eigenvalues can be overestimated due to the underestimation of the measured diffusion, which can result in the misordering
of eigenvalues

Neurotropic viruses target the brain and contribute to neurologic diseases. Caspase recruitment domain containing family member 9 (CARD9) controls protective immunity in a variety of infectious disorders. To investigate the effect of CARD9 in neurotropic virus infection, CARD9−/− and corresponding C57BL/6 wild-type control mice were infected with Theiler’s murine encephalomyelitis virus (TMEV). Brain tissue was analyzed by histology, immunohistochemistry and molecular analyses, and spleens by flow cytometry. To determine the impact of CARD9 deficiency on T cell responses in vitro, antigen presentation assays were utilized. Genetic ablation of CARD9 enhanced early pro-inflammatory cytokine responses and accelerated infiltration of T and B cells in the brain, together with a transient increase in TMEV-infected cells in the hippocampus. CARD9−/− mice showed an increased loss of neuronal nuclear protein+ mature neurons and doublecortin+ neuronal precursor cells and an increase in β-amyloid precursor protein+ damaged axons in the hippocampus. No effect of CARD9 deficiency was found on the initiation of CD8+ T cell responses by flow cytometry and co-culture experiments using virus-exposed dendritic cells or microglia-enriched glial cell mixtures, respectively. The present study indicates that CARD9 is dispensable for the initiation of early antiviral responses and TMEV elimination but may contribute to the modulation of neuroinflammation, thereby reducing hippocampal injury following neurotropic virus infection. 相似文献

The miscibility of poly(methyl methacrylate) (PMMA) and styrene-acrylonitrile random copolymers (SAN) blends was investigated on the basis of the Flory—Orwoll—Vrij equation of state theory. To obtain the equation of state parameters (P*, V*sp, T*: characteristic parameters), the pressure—volume—temperature (PVT) behaviour was measured for PMMA and a series of SANs with various acrylonitrile contents. The exchange energy parameter Xij was also calculated by fitting the theory to some phase diagrams of PMMA/SAN blends. The Flory—Huggins interaction parameter χ was separated into two contributions based on the equation of state theory for mixtures: the exchange energy term χinter and the free volume term χfree. Both the temperature and copolymer composition dependences of χinter and χfree were estimated by calculations using the equation of state parameters. There exists a region in which χinter is negative, leading to a miscibility window in PMMA/SAN blends. However, the immiscibility at high temperatures in the blends cannot be explained only by χinter; it is caused by the free volume contribution, χfree. The miscibility window behaviour in PMMA/SAN blends may be explained within the framework of the equation of state theory. 相似文献
