This paper addresses the definition, contouring, and visualization of scalar functions on unorganized point sets, which are sampled from a surface in 3D space; the proposed framework builds on moving least-squares techniques and implicit modeling. Given a scalar function f:PR, defined on a point set P, the idea behind our approach is to exploit the local connectivity structure of the k-nearest neighbor graph of P and mimic the contouring of scalar functions defined on triangle meshes. Moving least-squares and implicit modeling techniques are used to extend f from P to the surface M underlying P. To this end, we compute an analytical approximation of f that allows us to provide an exact differential analysis of , draw its iso-contours, visualize its behavior on and around M, and approximate its critical points. We also compare moving least-squares and implicit techniques for the definition of the scalar function underlying f and discuss their numerical stability and approximation accuracy. Finally, the proposed framework is a starting point to extend those processing techniques that build on the analysis of scalar functions on 2-manifold surfaces to point sets.  相似文献

Tools for the automatic decomposition of a surface into shape features will facilitate the editing, matching, texturing, morphing, compression and simplification of three-dimensional shapes. Different features, such as flats, limbs, tips, pits and various blending shapes that transition between them, may be characterized in terms of local curvature and other differential properties of the surface or in terms of a global skeletal organization of the volume it encloses. Unfortunately, both solutions are extremely sensitive to small perturbations in surface smoothness and to quantization effects when they operate on triangulated surfaces. Thus, we propose a multi-resolution approach, which not only estimates the curvature of a vertex over neighborhoods of variable size, but also takes into account the topology of the surface in that neighborhood. Our approach is based on blowing a spherical bubble at each vertex and studying how the intersection of that bubble with the surface evolves. We describe an efficient approach for computing these characteristics for a sampled set of bubble radii and for using them to identify features, based on easily formulated filters, that may capture the needs of a particular application.  相似文献

Summary We operationalize scientific output in a region by means of the number of articles (as in the SciSearch database) per year and technology output by means of the number of patent applications (as in the database of the European Patent Office) per priority year. All informetric analyses were done using the DIALOG online-system. The main research questions are the following: Which scientific and technological fields or topics are most influent within a region and which institutions or companies are mainly publishing articles or holding patents? Do the distributions of regional science and technology fields and of publishing institutions follow the well-known informetric function? Are there - as it is expected - only few fields and few institutions which dominate the region? Is there a connection between the economic power of a region and the regional publication and patent output? Examples studied in detail are seven German regions: Aachen, Düsseldorf, Hamburg, Köln (Cologne), Leipzig - Halle - Dessau, München (Munich), and Stuttgart. Three different indicators were used, science and technology attraction of a region (number of scientific articles and patents), science and technology intensity (articles and patents per 1,000 inhabitants), and science and technology density (articles and patents per 1 billion EURO gross value added). A significant reversible decrease in testosterone (T) has been associated with microgravity in male rodents and humans. Urinary T excretion increases in primates under hypergravity. Hypogonadism is somehow related to abnormally high levels of leptin (L), a hormone produced by the adipose tissue which has been found to increase under microgravity simulation conditions like head down bed rest (HDBR). The aim of this study was to assess hemodynamic and pituitary-adrenal and -gonadal adaptation to an acute HDBR test to be eventually used on a routine basis to get better prepared to next space flights. The Authors performed a 1 hour ?12° HDBR in 6 male and 6 female volunteers who underwent heart rate and blood pressure measurement together with a blood draw three times at 30 min intervals from the start to the end of the test for L, T, estradiol (E2), LH, androstenedione (A), cortisol (F), ACTH. 12 age- and sexmatched control subjects followed the same protocol except for keeping the sitting position all the time. According to the ANOVA for repeated measures, no changes occurred in L, T, E2 or LH whereas A, F and ACTH significantly decreased independently of gender. During HDBR systolic blood pressure decreased in both genders, diastolic blood pressure decreased significantly only in men and HR showed a more clear-cut decrease in women than in men. As a conclusion, such an acute steep-slope HDBR protocol may be efficiently used to testing immediate individual haemodynamic or adrenal response to microgravity but is not suitable for studies concerning gonadal adaptation.  相似文献

This study focused on the production of furfural from agricultural and industrial biomass residues by a hydrodistillation process. Corncobs, sugarcane bagasse, and eucalypt wood were treated with sulfuric, hydrochloric, and phosphoric acids as catalysts, with different acid concentrations (1.5 to 5.2 mol.L ?1). In addition, the eucalypt liquor from the auto-hydrolysis, kraft-dissolving pulp production process was also investigated as a source of furfural, using sulfuric and hydrochloric acids as a catalyst (0.9 and 3.9 mol.L ?1) . Furfural yields of 30.2, 25.8, and 13.9% were achieved for corncob, sugarcane bagasse, and eucalypt wood, respectively, on the basis of biomass dry weight. The efficiency of conversion from pentose to furfural using eucalypt liquor from the auto-hydrolysis kraft process was 71.5% using HCl 3.9 mol.L ?1 . Due to the presence of a high amount of pentose, corncob produced the highest amount of furfural, followed by sugarcane bagasse and then eucalypt wood.  相似文献

(E)-β-Chloro-α-phenylcinnamaldehyde and (E)- and (Z)-methyl α-tert-butoxycarbonyl-p-nitro-β-bromocinnamates in the presence of NCS ion in acetonitrile undergo an (E) ⇌ (Z) isomerization which is faster than the vinylic substitution. (E)- and (Z)-methyl α-cyano-β-mesyloxy- (and β-chloro-) p-nitrocinnamates undergo substitution under similar conditions without preceding isomerization. MO calculations gave the energy differences between the eclipsed and the perpendicular conformers of carbanions CH2CH2X and (NC)2ČH2X (X = Cl, NCS). These rotational barriers denote the hyperconjugation stabilization energy resulting from interaction of the C-X bond and the 2p(C) orbital. Both HCA values are high, those for X = Cl being 15–20% higher than for X = NCS. The limited literature data on the nucleofugality of NCS suggests that it can have a nucleofugality which is not much lower than that of Cl or Br. Consequently, NCS-catalyzed isomerizations of electrophilic vinyl chlorides and bromides, which involve a 180° internal rotation followed by a faster expulsion of NCS than of Cl from the initially formed intermediate carbanion Y'YC-C(R)(Cl)SCN, are not unreasonable, especially if solvation, which was not included in the calculations, plays an important role in the nucleofuge expulsion process.  相似文献

Hydrogenation of esters to alcohols with a well‐defined iron iPr2PNP pincer complex has been recently reported by us and other groups. We now introduce a novel and sterically less hindered Et2PNP congener that provides superior catalytic activity in the hydrogenation of various carboxylic acid esters and lactones compared to the known complex. Successful hydrogenation proceeds under relatively mild conditions (60 °C) with lower catalyst loadings.
