The objective of this study is to characterise the gross chemical and microbiological status and identify the volatile compounds of mouldy Civil cheeses. A total of forty‐one samples were surveyed, and gross compositional status of the cheeses was (as mean values): 6.5 for pH, 6.2% for fat‐in‐dry matter, 51.8% for moisture and 15.3% for water‐soluble nitrogen (as% of total nitrogen). Chemical composition of the cheese samples varied widely. Mouldy Civil cheese has similar pH values and moisture contents when compared with blue‐type cheeses, but it has distinct feature for fat contents. The microbiological counts of the samples were found to be high and some samples contained coliform bacteria. A total of 95 volatiles, including esters (28), acids (6), ketones (12), aldehydes (3), alcohols (15), terpenes (10), sulphur compounds (3) and miscellaneous (18), were identified in the volatile fractions of the cheeses, and principal volatile groups were esters, alcohols and ketones. 相似文献

Growing evidence suggests that the freely accessible pollen of some plants is chemically protected against pollen-feeding flower visitors. For example, a diet of pollen from buttercup plants (Ranunculus) recently was shown to have a deleterious effect on developing larvae of several bee species not specialized on Ranunculus. Numerous Ranunculus species contain ranunculin, the glucosyl hydrate form of the highly reactive and toxic lactone protoanemonin, that causes the toxicity of these plants. We tested whether the presence of ranunculin is responsible for the lethal effects of R. acris pollen on the larvae of two bee species that are not Ranunculus specialists. To investigate the effect on bee larval development, we added ranunculin to the pollen provisions of the Campanula specialist bee Chelostoma rapunculi and the Asteraceae specialist bee Heriades truncorum, and allowed the larvae to feed on these provisions. We quantified ranunculin in pollen of R. acris and in brood cell provisions collected by the Ranunculus specialist bee Chelostoma florisomne. We demonstrated that although ranunculin was lethal to both tested bee species in high concentrations, the concentration in the pollen of R. acris was at least fourfold lower than that tolerated by the larvae of C. rapunculi and H. truncorum in the feeding experiments. Ranunculin concentration in the brood cells of C. florisomne was on average even twentyfold lower than that in Ranunculus pollen, suggesting that a mechanism different from ranunculin intoxication accounts for the larval mortality reported for bees not specialized on Ranunculus pollen. 相似文献

This paper adopts the communication closed layer (CCL) concept of Elrad and Francez to the formal reasoning of randomized distributed algorithms. We do so by enriching probabilistic automata (PA) with a layered composition operator, an intermediate between parallel and sequential composition. Layered composition is used to establish probabilistic counterparts of the CCL laws that exploit independence and/or precedence conditions between the constituent PA. The probabilistic CCL laws enable partial order (po-) equivalence when layered composition is replaced by sequential composition. Such po-equivalence induces a purely syntactic partial-order state space reduction via layered separation in compositions of PA while preserving probabilistic next-free linear-time properties. The feasibility of such layered separation is demonstrated on a randomized mutual exclusion algorithm by Kushilevitz and Rabin, complementing an algebraic approach (for analyzing this algorithm) by McIver, Gonzalia, Cohen, and Morgan. 相似文献

Carbon/poly(3,4‐ethylene dioxythiophene) (C/PEDOT) composites are synthesized by in situ chemical oxidative polymerization of EDOT monomer on carbon black in order to decrease carbon corrosion that occurred in carbon‐supported catalysts used in proton exchange membrane fuel cell. The effects of different dopants including polystyrene sulfonic acid, p‐toluenesulfonic acid and camphorsulfonic acid with the addition of ethylene glycol or dimethyl sulfoxide on the properties of the composites are investigated. The synthesized composites are characterized by X‐ray diffraction, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, thermogravimetric analysis, surface area analysis and scanning electron microscope. Electrical conductivity is determined by using the four‐point probe technique. Electrochemical oxidation characteristics of the synthesized C/PEDOT composites are investigated by cyclic voltammetry by applying 1.2 V for 24 h. The composite prepared at 25 °C with p‐toluenesulfonic acid and ethylene glycol shows the best carbon corrosion resistance. Platinum‐supported catalyst by using this composite was prepared using microwave irradiation technique, and it was seen that the prepared catalyst did not significantly lose its hydrogen oxidation and oxygen reduction reaction activities after electrochemical oxidation. The induction furnace test is one of the most common used refractory wear testing methods for MgO-C products. Due to the high oxidation rates in the ITO test setup and the significant changes in slag chemistry the test method sometimes gives results which cannot be compared to the field. For a general “Yes or No” decision this test is suitable for testing MgO-C refractories, determination of small differences in performance of MgO-C products, which is especially important for the development of new grades, is hardly possible. We report on correlations between the proton conductivity, the water swelling and the dry-state morphology of ETFE-g-poly(sulfonated styrene-co-DVB) proton-exchange membranes (PEMs). We focus on the influence of the systematically varied monomer composition. Especially, the impact of the DVB cross-linker on the ion-rich phase aggregated in the dry PEM is studied by small-angle X-ray scattering. A modified hard-sphere fluid model describing the ion-rich phase is applied to interpret the observed scattering function. We find hereby that the size and number density of the ion-rich domains decrease with increasing cross-link level. Consequently, the distance between the ion-rich domains is proportional to the cross-link level. The total volume fraction of water in the hydrated membrane is proportional to the overall volume fraction of the ion-rich phase, and the number of water molecules per ion-rich aggregate is inversely proportional to the level of cross-linking. We show that there is a clear correlation between the structure of the ion-rich phase formed in the dry state and the proton conductivity of the hydrated membrane: beyond a threshold, indicating the onset of percolation of the aqueous network, the conductivity is proportional to the hydration level and inversely proportional to the mean distance between the ion-rich domains. 相似文献

6063-T4 Al alloy was friction stir welded at various tool rotations (800, 1120, and 1600?rpm) and welding speeds (200 and 315?mm/min) using a specially manufactured tool with a height-adjustable and right-hand-threaded pin. The postweld aging process (at 185?°C for 7?h) was applied to a group of the welded plates. In this study, the effects of the welding parameters and the postweld aging treatment on the microstructural and mechanical properties of 6063-T4 Al alloy were studied. The maximum weld temperatures during the welding process were recorded, and the fracture surfaces of tensile specimens were examined using a scanning electron microscope. The homogeneous hardness profiles were obtained for all the weldings with no trace of softening regions. It was observed that the ultimate tensile strengths (UTS) increased slightly (on average by approx. 8%) and the percent elongations decreased (on average by approx. 33%) by the postweld aging treatment. The maximum bending forces (F max) of all the welds were less than that of the base metal. It was observed that the F max values increased after the postweld aging process at the welding speed of 315?mm/min and decreased at the welding speed of 200?mm/min. 相似文献
