End-of-life vehicles (ELVs) represent one of the most important waste flows in Japan and 3.58 million was processed only in fiscal year 2008. In an attempt to reduce waste originating from ELVs, the Japanese Government introduced the ELV Recycling Law in 2002. Automobile shredder residue (ASR) recycling is essential to achieving the goals of the ELV Recycling Law and represents a major concern for the Japanese vehicle recycling industry. This paper proposes the tactical ASR recycling planning model, which can be used to assist Japanese vehicle recyclers to improve their profitability and ASR recycling efficiency. A numerical study is conducted in order to illustrate the potentials and applicability of the proposed modelling approach, and to gain insights into the performances of the Japanese vehicle recycling system and into the influence of the ELV Recycling Law. Sensitivity analyses demonstrate and validate the approach and its potentials. ELV Recycling Law influence is found to be crucial for the decision making on ASR recycling, as the 20% increase in valid recycling quota will cause approximately 50% decrease in the quantity of disposed ASR. We show that the stringent ASR recycling quota is easily attainable and present many interesting insights.  相似文献

Cerebral venous thrombosis is a rare condition with various clinical presentations which may delay diagnosis. It is frequently associated with severe consequences. We present the first documented case of thrombosis of the great cerebral vein in a hemodialysis patient. A 29‐year‐old female patient with end‐stage renal disease of unknown etiology was admitted to a hospital with altered consciousness and nausea. Severe headache in the right parietal area had started 2 days before. On examination, she was in the poor overall condition, dysartric, with a severe nystagmus. Urgent brain multislice computerized tomography and magnetic resonance imaging revealed thrombosis of the great cerebral vein with hypodense zones in hypothalamus, thalamus and basal ganglia. She was treated with heparin bolus of 25000 IU with a favorable outcome. Detailed examination demonstrated increased lupus anticoagulant (LA) 1 and LA2 and increased LA1/LA2. Control magnetic resonance imaging performed 1 year later revealed multiple vascular lesions within the brain. Acetylsalicylate was introduced in therapy. Thrombosis of the cerebral veins should be suspected in patients with end‐stage renal disease, altered neurological status and signs of increased intracranial pressure.  相似文献

The antioxidant activity (free radical scavenging ability and lipid oxidation inhibitory activity) and the activity in cell culture [influence on HT-29 human colon cancer cell viability and nuclear factor kappa B (NF-κB) activation] of natural fruit juices from red grape, strawberry, cherry and sour cherry were investigated in vitro. Analysis of polyphenolic composition of fruit juices showed the dominant presence of anthocyanins (cyanidin-3-glucoside, cyanidin-3-rutinoside, peonidin-3-rutinoside, pelargonidin-3-glucoside), anthocyanidins (procyanidins B1, B2 and B3), flavonoids (glucosides of myricetin, quercetin and kaempferol), and phenolic acids (neochlorogenic acid, chlorogenic acid, ellagic acid, p-coumaroylquinic acid) in juices. DPPH test and β-carotene bleaching method indicated that grape, strawberry, cherry and sour cherry natural juices (at the concentration of 2.5%) showed very strong free radical scavenging (75–92%) and antioxidant activity (71–94%). In addition, at the concentration of 0.01% they showed complete inhibition of copper-induced oxidation of human LDL (low density lipoprotein). In contrast, selected fruit juices did not show cytotoxic effects on HT-29 cells and NF-κB inhibitory activity (at the concentrations of 0.5 and 2%). Results of this study showed no correlation between the antioxidant activity of natural fruit juices from red grape, strawberry, cherry and sour cherry and their effect on HT-29 cell viability and NF-κB inhibitory activity.  相似文献

Nine new microsatellite markers (SSR) were isolated from Salvia officinalis L. A total of 125 alleles, with 8 to 21 alleles per locus, were detected in a natural population from the east Adriatic coast. The observed heterozygosity, expected heterozygosity, and polymorphic information content ranged from 0.46 to 0.83, 0.73 to 0.93 and 0.70 to 0.92, respectively. New microsatellite markers, as well as previously published markers, were tested for cross-amplification in Salvia brachyodon Vandas, a narrow endemic species known to be present in only two localities on the Balkan Peninsula. Out of 30 microsatellite markers tested on the natural S. brachyodon population, 15 were successfully amplified. To obtain evidence of recent bottleneck events in the populations of both species, observed genetic diversity (HE) was compared to the expected genetic diversity at mutation-drift equilibrium (HEQ) and calculated from the observed number of alleles using a two-phased mutation model (TPM). Recent bottleneck events were detected only in the S. brachyodon population. This result suggests the need to reconsider the current threat category of this endemic species.  相似文献

In this article, we analyzed the influence of isosorbide content on glass transition temperature and crystallinity of poly(L ‐lactide). Different synthesis methods were applied to determine optimal procedure for polymerization of L ‐lactide in the presence of isosorbide. Two procedures were performed with tin(II) 2‐ethylhexanoate as the catalyst: first, using the vacuum sealed vessel, and second, using microwave reactor bulk polymerizations. The solution polymerization (with trifluoromethanesulfonic acid as catalyst) was possible at the temperature of 40°C. Obtained polyesters had number average molecular weights ranging from 20,000 to 65,000 g mol–1, according to the gel permeation chromatography measurements. The polymer structure was characterized by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy and proton nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy. Thermal properties of the obtained polymers were analyzed using thermogravimetry (TG) and differential scanning calorimetry (DSC). According to DSC measurements, the addition of isosorbide in the polyesters influenced the increase in both glass transition temperature and degree of crystallization for all samples. The results obtained by thermogravimetric analysis confirmed the strong influence of polymerization mechanism on synthesized poly(L ‐lactides) thermal properties. POLYM. ENG. Widespread use of radiofrequency radiation emitting devices increased the exposure to electromagnetic fields (EMFs) from 300 MHz to 300 GHz. Various biological effects of exposure to these fields have been documented so far, but very little work has been carried out on plants. The aim of the present work was to investigate the physiological responses of the plant Lemna minor after exposure to radiofrequency EMFs, and in particular, to clarify the possible role of oxidative stress in the observed effects. Duckweed was exposed for 2 h to EMFs of 400 and 900 MHz at field strengths of 10, 23, 41 and 120 V m(-1). The effect of a longer exposure time (4 h) and modulation was also investigated. After exposure, parameters of oxidative stress, such as lipid peroxidation, H(2)O(2) content, activities and isoenzyme pattern of antioxidative enzymes as well as HSP70 expression were evaluated. At 400 MHz, lipid peroxidation and H(2)O(2) content were significantly enhanced in duckweed exposed to EMFs of 23 and 120 V m(-1) while other exposure treatments did not have an effect. Compared to the controls, the activities of antioxidative enzymes showed different behaviour: catalase (CAT) activity increased after most exposure treatments while pyrogallol (PPX) and ascorbate peroxidase (APX) activities were not changed. Exceptions were reduced PPX and APX activity after longer exposure at 23 V m(-1) and increased PPX activity after exposures at 10 and 120 V m(-1). By contrast, at 900 MHz almost all exposure treatments significantly increased level of lipid peroxidation and H(2)O(2) content but mostly decreased PPX activity and did not affect CAT activity. Exceptions were exposures to a modulated field and to the field of 120 V m(-1) which increased PPX and CAT activity. At this frequency APX activity was significantly decreased after exposure at 10 V m(-1) and longer exposure at 23 V m(-1) but it increased after a shorter exposure at 23 V m(-1). At both frequencies no differences in isoenzyme patterns of antioxidative enzymes or HSP70 level were found between control and exposed plants. Our results showed that non-thermal exposure to investigated radiofrequency fields induced oxidative stress in duckweed as well as unspecific stress responses, especially of antioxidative enzymes. However, the observed effects markedly depended on the field frequencies applied as well as on other exposure parameters (strength, modulation and exposure time). Enhanced lipid peroxidation and H(2)O(2) content accompanied by diminished antioxidative enzymes activity caused by exposure to investigated EMFs, especially at 900 MHz, indicate that oxidative stress could partly be due to changed activities of antioxidative enzymes.  相似文献

The reduction of commercial and mechanochemically processed CeO2 powders was studied. Nanostructured CeO2, with the crystallite size of 21 nm and the lattice distortion of 0.37%, was obtained during 60 min of milling in a high-energetic vibratory mill. X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy and Brunauer-Emmett-Teller method were applied to characterize the milled powders. During the thermal treatment at 1200 and 1400 °C in an argon atmosphere the nonstoichiometric CeO2−x oxides with the defect fluorite structure were formed. Compositions of CeO2−x oxides were determined according to its lattice parameter. The results showed that the release of oxygen, as well as the rate of reduction, was more effective in nanocrystalline then in the microcrystalline CeO2, producing at 1200 °C CeO1.80 and CeO1.85 oxides, while at 1400 °C were obtained similarly, CeO1.77 and CeO1.78, compositions.  相似文献

The interest in increasing the participation of renewable energy sources (RES) in energy production arises with increasing population and growing demands for energy production and consumption, as well as the fact of the limited fossil fuels reserves. RES in the energy balance of any country has their share of energy, socio-economic and environmental benefits. Investment in energy sector in the RES domain enables Vojvodina Province to reduce energy dependence on the fossil fuel market.From the total RES potential in Vojvodina Province that is 1293 ktoe/year, around 1.7% is located in existing geothermal sources. There are 73 drills with a total capacity of 72.6 MW from which 65 drills are tested positive. Currently, 15 wells are in production, with a total power of 17.7 MW. There are 27 drills that have never been in production and which are perspective, with a total power of 42.8 MW.The aim of this paper is to perform data analysis of direct geothermal energy utilization according to the water temperature and geothermal fluid flow. According to the results of the analysis recommendations for geothermal energy utilization are given within certain sectors: agriculture (aquaculture and greenhouses), heating of the facilities and pools, industrial applications and balneology.  相似文献

BACKGROUND: Higher plants possess several mechanisms of defense against plant pathogens. Proteins actively synthesized in response to those stresses are called defense‐related proteins which, among others, include certain protease inhibitors. It is of particular relevance to investigate plant natural defense mechanisms for pathogen control which include cystatins—specific inhibitors of cysteine proteases. RESULTS: In this study, a cysteine proteinase inhibitor (CPI), 11 kDa in size, was purified from green kiwifruit to homogeneity. Immuno‐tissue print results indicated that CPI is most abundant in the outer layer of pericarp, near the peel, and the inner most part of the pulp—sites where it could act as a natural barrier against pathogens entering the fruit. The purified protein (15 µmol L?1) showed antifungal activity against two phytopathogenic fungi (Alternaria radicina and Botrytis cinerea) by inhibiting fungal spore germination. In vivo, CPI (10 µmol L?1) was able to prevent artificial infection of apple and carrot with spore suspension of B. cinerea and A. radicina, respectively. It also exerted activity on both intracellular and fermentation fluid proteinases. CONCLUSION: Identification and characterization of plant defense molecules is the first step towards creation of improved methods for pathogen control based on naturally occurring molecules.
