A new distributed amplifier topology that offers greatly reduced power consumption is presented. The tapered matrix amplifier (TMA) originates from the combination of transmission line tapering and matrix cascading of distributed amplifiers. The design of a TMA is however complicated by contrasting requirements of the tapered lines, the lumped line approximation and the parasitics of the circuit components. Therefore, a pragmatic design approach leveraging circuit optimization is proposed to handle these complexities. As a proof of concept, a prototype broadband amplifier was implemented in a 90 nm bulk CMOS process. It features an average gain of 15.8 dB over the pass-band, stretching from DC to 22 GHz, while consuming only 12.9 mW of DC power. The average noise figure in the pass-band is 5.4 dB, and the average IIP3 is ?7.3 dBm. The die area occupied by the amplifier is only 0.31 mm2. In addition, it is shown that the prototype design can be easily adapted for high linearity while keeping the increase in power consumption to a minimum.  相似文献

Automatic quantification of regional left ventricular deformation in volumetric ultrasound data remains challenging. Many methods have been proposed to extract myocardial motion, including techniques using block matching, phase-based correlation, differential optical flow methods, and image registration. Our lab previously presented an approach based on elastic registration of subsequent volumes using a B-spline representation of the underlying transformation field. Encouraging results were obtained for the assessment of global left ventricular function, but a thorough validation on a regional level was still lacking. For this purpose, univentricular thick-walled cardiac phantoms were deformed in an experimental setup to locally assess strain accuracy against sonomicrometry as a reference method and to assess whether regions containing stiff inclusions could be detected. Our method showed good correlations against sonomicrometry: r(2) was 0.96, 0.92, and 0.84 for the radial (ε(RR)), longitudinal (ε(LL)), and circumferential (ε(CC)) strain, respectively. Absolute strain errors and strain drift were low for ε(LL) (absolute mean error: 2.42%, drift: -1.05%) and ε(CC) (error: 1.79%, drift: -1.33%) and slightly higher for ε(RR) (error: 3.37%, drift: 3.05%). The discriminative power of our methodology was adequate to resolve full transmural inclusions down to 17 mm in diameter, although the inclusion-to-surrounding tissue stiffness ratio was required to be at least 5:2 (absolute difference of 39.42 kPa). When the inclusion-to-surrounding tissue stiffness ratio was lowered to approximately 2:1 (absolute difference of 22.63 kPa), only larger inclusions down to 27 mm in diameter could still be identified. Radial strain was found not to be reliable in identifying dysfunctional regions.  相似文献

O-Isobutyl S-[2-(diethylamino)ethyl]methylphosphonothioate (VR) is a structural isomer of a more well-known chemical warefare agent, O-ethyl S-[2(diisopropylamino)ethyl]methylphosphonothioate (code designation VX). In this study, cardiorespiratory and central nervous system (CNS) effects of VR (2LD50 or 22.6 microg kg(-1); s.c.) were evaluated in urethane-anesthetized (Group 1) and unanesthetized (Group 2) guinea pigs instrumented for concurrent recordings of electrocorticogram (ECoG) and a variety of cardiorespiratory activities. The first sign of intoxication was a state of progressive bradycardia, vascular hypotension and arrhythmia (Group 1, approximately 13 min post-VR; Group 2, approximately 6 min post-VR). Bradypnea, excessive salivation and compensatory changes in blood pressure typically did not emerge until 3-5 min prior to apnea (Group 1, approximately 28 min post-VR; Group 2, approximately 15 min post-VR). An idioventricular rhythm, which signalled a failing myocardium, appeared at the same time or shortly after the development of a bradypneic profile. Another notable toxicity component of VR, based on arterial pH, pO2/pCO2 and bicarbonate (HCO3-) level data, was a state of combined hypercapnia, acidemia and hypoxemia during the development of bradypnea. Taken together, findings from this study indicated that changes in medullary respiratory unit activity and ECoG data displayed little, if any, notable signs of CNS perturbation prior to the terminal stage (approximately 1 min prior to respiratory failure). Thus, in addition to displaying a greater sensitivity to perturbation by VR, the peripheral cardiorespiratory system components also appeared to play a more important role in precipitating a progressively dysfunctional cardiorespiratory status that ultimately led to collapse of central respiratory mechanisms and death.  相似文献

ABSTRACT: Fresh'Oso Grande'strawberries wrapped in polyvinyl chloride stretch film lost 0.7% of their initial weight during storage for 8 d at 1 °C, whereas unwrapped fruit lost 11%. Greater water loss was associated with darker and less red fruit, lower concentrations of anthocyanins and other soluble phenolics, and higher polyphenol oxidase (PPO) activity. Anthocyanin degradation and oxidation of soluble phenolic compounds, caused possibly by increased PPO activity as a result of water loss, contributed to the development of strawberry surface browning during storage. Proper handling to reduce water loss during postharvest operations should be used to maintain acceptable color of strawberries during shipping and retailing.  相似文献

Antisense oligonucleotides (ON) are regarded as potential therapeutic agents for controlling gene expression at the mRNA level. The strength of the interaction with the target sequence is one critical factor for the therapeutic efficiency of an ON. Herein, the results of studies on antisense 15mer and 20mer ONs against mdr1b-mRNA are described. The mdr1b is a member of the group that encodes the P-glycoprotein (Pgp), responsible for the phenomenon of multidrug resistance. The effects of backbone modification (DNA, phosphorothioate (PTO)), terminal modifications (hexadecyl, cholesteryl, tocopherol, polyethylenglycol, 2'-O-methyl-modified RNA) and base sequence misalignments (1 to 3 bases) on interaction kinetics and binding strength were investigated. The interaction of an immobilized sense strand with the dissolved antisense ON was monitored with a label-free optical transducer based on thin film interference (RIfS). Association kinetics were detected at a low density of immobilized ON. Thermodynamics were investigated by homogeneous phase titration of sense and antisense ON and subsequent quantification of equilibrium concentrations of unbound ON at a transducer highly loaded with sense ON. Association rate constants varied from 3.1 (+/- 0.2) x 10(4) M-1 s-1 (poly(ethylene glycol)-modified DNA strand) to 4.3 (+/- 0.1) x 10(4) M-1 s-1 (hexadecyl-modified strand). Binding constants varied from 1.9 (+/- 0.1) x 10(8) M-1 (cholesteryl modification) to 5 (+/- 0.4) x 10(7) M-1 (tocopherol modification). Phosphorothioate ON showed a reduction in binding strength of more than 1 order of magnitude. The data presented give valuable information for the efficiency of modified antisense oligonucleotides.  相似文献

The magnetic structure of YBCO with low oxygen content is severely influenced by Aluminium doping. The Al-NMR spectra confirm the position of the non-magnetic Al impurities in the Cu(1) layer with a shift from the regular Cu(1) site in <110> direction. The Cu(1) ions in the Al-O-Cu(1) clusters may be responsible for the transition between the antiferromagnetic AFI and AFII phases in the doped crystals. From the Cu-NMR in pure and Al doped single crystals different spin directions in the AFI and AFII phases have been determined, <100> for the pure YBCO and <110>for the Al doped in the AFII state.  相似文献

Lip synchronization is considered a key parameter during interactive communication. In the case of video conferencing and television broadcasting, the differential delay between audio and video should remain below certain thresholds, as recommended by several standardization bodies. However, further research has also shown that these thresholds can be relaxed, depending on the targeted application and use case. In this article, we investigate the influence of lip sync on the ability to perform real-time language interpretation during video conferencing. Furthermore, we are also interested in determining proper lip sync visibility thresholds applicable to this use case. Therefore, we conducted a subjective experiment using expert interpreters, which were required to perform a simultaneous translation, and non-experts. Our results show that significant differences are obtained when conducting subjective experiments with expert interpreters. As interpreters are primarily focused on performing the simultaneous translation, lip sync detectability thresholds are higher compared with existing recommended thresholds. As such, primary focus and the targeted application and use case are important factors to be considered when selecting proper lip sync acceptability thresholds.  相似文献

In this paper we address the design and implementation of a generic terminal architecture for videoconferencing based on the principle of programmable protocol stacks. In this architecture, there exist two types of software components. A first type are the multimedia engines, which are responsible for handling the multimedia stream (execution layer). Secondly, the managing components handle the multimedia engines' lifecycles and provide a set of network- and codec-independent CORBA-IDL interfaces which make building the desired protocol stack straightforward (middleware based control layer). As a result, the developed platform can be easily integrated in existing multimedia control frameworks such as the TINA architecture or the H.323 terminal framework.  相似文献
