A new definition is given to the problem of light positioning in a closed environment, aiming at obtaining, for a global illumination radiosity solution, the position and emission power for a given number of lights that provide a desired illumination at a minimum total emission power. Such a desired illumination is expressed using minimum and/or maximum values of irradiance allowed, resulting in a combinatory optimization problem. A pre-process computes and stores irradiances for a pre-established set of light positions by means of a radiosity random walk. The reuse of photon paths makes this pre-process reasonably cheap. Different heuristic search algorithms, combined to linear programming, are discussed and compared, from the simplest hill climbing strategies to the more sophisticated population-based and hybrid approaches. The paper shows how the presented approaches make it possible to obtain a good solution to the problem at a reasonable cost.  相似文献

Adhesion molecules borne by both endothelial cells and circulating leukocytes are in large measure responsible for guiding the process of extravasation. The selectin family has been primarily associated with the early stages of adhesion involving initial contact and rolling. A significant body of evidence has accumulated indicating a fundamental role for the endothelial members of this family, E- and P-selectin, in a variety of inflammatory states and models. Although originally identified as the lymph node-specific lymphocyte homing receptor, L-selectin has also been suggested to play an important role in leukocyte recruitment to sites of inflammation. We have recently demonstrated, using L-selectin-deficient mice, that defects in contact hypersensitivity (CHS) responses are in essence due to the inability of T cells to home to and be sensitized within peripheral lymph nodes, whereas nonspecific effector cells are fully capable of entry into sites of cutaneous inflammation (Catalina et al, J Exp Med 184:2341, 1996). In the present study, we perform an analysis of adhesion molecule usage in two models of skin inflammation and show in both L-selectin-deficient as well as wild-type mice that a combination of P- and E-selectin is crucial for the development of both acute (croton oil) and chronic (contact hypersensitivity) inflammation at sites of the skin, whereas L-selectin does not appear to play a significant role. Moreover, alpha4 integrins are shown to be integral to a CHS but not an acute irritant response, whereas CD44 does not significantly contribute to either. These results provide a systematic examination in one study of major adhesion molecules that are critical in acute and chronic skin inflammation. They reinforce the essential role of the collaboration of E- and P-selectin in both specific and nonspecific skin inflammatory responses and the importance of alpha4 in the specific response only. In addition, they substantiate only a limited role, if any, for L-selectin in these cutaneous effector mechanisms and demonstrate the essential equivalence in this analysis of L-selectin-deficient mice compared with normal mice treated with blocking antibodies.  相似文献

A novel method to generate time–temperature–transformation (TTT) diagrams from Differential Scanning Calorimetry (DSC) data is presented. The methodology starts with dynamical DSC information to obtain the total transformation heat, followed by an isothermal‐dynamic temperature ramp that allows the inclusion of diffusion‐controlled reaction kinetic. The cure kinetics is modeled using an auto‐catalytic Kamal–Sourour model, complemented with a Kissinger model that allows the direct prediction of one energy of activation, DiBenedetto's equation for the glass transition temperature as a function of the cure degree and adjusted reaction constants to include diffusion mechanisms. The methodology uses a nonlinear least‐squares regression method following J.P. Hernández‐Ortiz and T.A. Osswald's methodology (J. Polym. Eng. 2004, 25, 23). A typical linseed epoxy resin (EP) presents two different kinetics control mechanisms, thereby providing a good model to validate the proposed experimental and theoretical method. Mixed‐interpenetrated polymeric networks based on sodium alginate (ALG) and poly(N‐isopropylacryl amide) (PNIPAAm) covalently cross‐linked with N,N'‐methylenebisacrylamide are studied for their biocompatibility, nontoxicity, and biodegradability aiming their application in drug delivery. The presence of drug‐polymeric matrix interactions and the distribution of the drug in the polymeric network for theophylline‐loaded ALG/PNIPAAm hydrogels are also investigated by spectroscopic and microscopic methods. The quantitative evaluation of theophylline loaded hydrogels performed by NIR‐CI technique shows a better drug entrapment and a higher homogeneity of the samples with increased alginate content. The thermal behavior of the hydrogels is significantly modified by theophylline presence. The application of the ALG/PNIPAAm hydrogels as carriers for sustained drug release formulations was assessed by the theophylline release tests performed both by in vitro and in vivo studies. © 2014 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. This paper analyses the determinants of employment and unemployment spells in an urban area. Using data from a random sample of labour force participants in Barcelona, we find that individual, firm, regulatory and macroeconomic factors all affect urban (un)employment duration to a certain degree. Also, national and urban (un)employment exhibits the same shape in the baseline hazards and has similar macroeconomic and regulatory drivers, being the individuals’ characteristics the main source of difference we can identify. Consistent with the matching theory, the predicted hazards indicate that the likelihood of finding a job and of being fired is higher and lower, respectively, in the city of Barcelona than in an average Spanish location.  相似文献

This paper reports a full-scale experimental campaign and a computational fluid dynamics (CFD) study of a radiant cooling ceiling installed in a test room, under controlled conditions. This research aims to use the results obtained from the two studies to analyze the indoor thermal comfort using the predicted mean vote (PMV). During the whole experimental tests the indoor humidity was kept at a level where the condensation risk was minimized and no condensation was detected on the chilled surface of the ceiling. Detailed experimental measurements on the air temperature distribution, surface temperature and globe temperature were realized for different cases where the cooling ceiling temperature varied from 16.9 to 18.9 °C. The boundary conditions necessary for the CFD study were obtained from the experimental data measurements. The results of the simulations were first validated with the data from the experiments and then the air velocity fields were investigated. It was found that in the ankle/feet zone the air velocity could pass 0.2 m/s but for the rest of the zones it took values less than 0.1 m/s. The obtained experimental results for different chilled ceiling temperatures showed that with a cooling ceiling the vertical temperature gradient is less than 1 °C/m, which corresponds to the standard recommendations. A comparison between globe temperature and the indoor air temperature showed a maximum difference of 0.8 °C being noticed. This paper also presents the radiosity method that was used to calculate the mean radiant temperature for different positions along different axes. The method was based on the calculation of the view factors and on the surface temperatures obtained from the experiments. PMV plots showed that the thermal comfort is achieved and is uniformly distributed within the test room.  相似文献

Lipase from Candida rugosa was immobilized onto chitosan using four different protocols. The variation of crystallinity (5.57–92.86%), which was a result of thermal treatments and crosslinking of the chitosan, influenced the protein load (7.46–25.15 mg g?1 chitosan) and protein load efficiency (21.67–41.68%) for immobilization assays made with identical lipase solution concentration (1.3 mg of protein/mL). The effects of protein load (10, 30, 50 and 70 mg of lipase), reaction temperature (30, 40, 50, 60, 70 °C) and substrates molar ratio (0.05–0.30 M) have been studied in the butyl oleate synthesis in iso-octane when water activity of the free and immobilized enzymes were fixed around 0.53 ± 0.04. The catalytic activity of the immobilized lipase has also been tested. The Ping–Pong bi–bi mechanism with dead end complex of n-butanol was found to fit the initial rate data. The values of the apparent kinetic parameters were determined by graphic and parametric method as: V max = 18.2–19.0 mmol min?1 g?1; K M; Acid = 0.599–0.640 mol L?1; K M; Alcohol = 0.128–0.149 mol L?1; and K i; Alcohol = 1.933 mol L?1.  相似文献
