On the Complexity of Distributed Self-Configuration in Wireless Networks   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1  
We consider three distributed configuration tasks that arise in the setup and operation of multi-hop wireless networks: partition into coordinating cliques, Hamiltonian cycle formation and conflict-free channel allocation. We show that the probabilities of accomplishing these tasks undergo zero-one phase transitions with respect to the transmission range of individual nodes. We model these tasks as distributed constraint satisfaction problems (DCSPs) and show that, even though they are NP-hard in general, these problems can be solved efficiently on average when the network is operated sufficiently far from the transition region. Phase transition analysis is shown to be a useful mechanism for quantifying the critical range of energy and bandwidth resources needed for the scalable performance of self-configuring wireless networks.  相似文献

Silicon nanowires have been implemented in microfabricated structures to develop planar thermoelectric microgenerators (??TEGs) monolithically integrated in silicon to convert heat flow from thermal gradients naturally present in the environment into electrical energy. The compatibility of typical microfabrication technologies and the vapor?Cliquid?Csolid (VLS) mechanism employed for silicon nanowire growth has been evaluated. Low-thermal-mass suspended structures have been designed, simulated, and microfabricated on silicon-on-insulator substrates to passively generate thermal gradients and operate as microgenerators using silicon nanowires as thermoelectric material. Both electrical measurements to evaluate the connectivity of the nanowires and thermoreflectance imaging to determine the heat transfer along the device have been employed.  相似文献

In this paper we present an asynchronous finite-state machine digital controller co-integrated with an on-chip non-inverting buck-boost power converter with dynamic signal-tracking capabilities. The mostly-digital controller functionally implements a non-PWM zone-wise control law through asynchronous circuitry, thus exhibiting self-timed minimum latency and ultra low power operation due to gate switching activity. Experimental results on a 0.35 μm CMOS technology demonstrate an efficiency up to 80 % with a switching frequency of 2.86 MHz.  相似文献

This work describes the use of focused-ion-beam for the fabrication of metallic nanoconstrictions on a Fe thin film with in situ monitoring of the structure’s resistance. With this approach the sequential FIB steps that are used for the gradual narrowing of the nanoconstriction are observed as changes in the measured resistance, thus providing very good control of the milling process. The FIB patterning enables precise termination of the process just before the crossover between the metallic and tunneling regimes near the conductance quantum value G0 (G0 = 2e2/h). Compared to previous approaches to create nanoconstrictions with focused-ion-beam, this new technique determines precisely the current direction and minimizes Ga damage at the nanoconstriction.  相似文献

In this paper, several algorithms for compressing the feedback of channel quality information are presented and analyzed. These algorithms are developed for a proposed adaptive modulation scheme for future multi-carrier 4G mobile systems. These strategies compress the feedback data and, used together with opportunistic scheduling, drastically reduce the feedback data rate. Thus the adaptive modulation schemes become more suitable and efficient to be implemented in future mobile systems, increasing data throughput and overall system performance.

A new multipurpose genetic algorithm, based on Pareto optimality, is proposed to design logical topologies for wavelength-routed optical networks with the aim of minimizing both the congestion and the end-to-end delay. Simulation results show its efficiency when compared with other previously proposed algorithms, achieving in most cases optimal or near-optimal solutions, and in less time than other methods. Moreover, since the algorithm relies on Pareto optimality, not only does it obtain a single logical topology but a set of them, so that the network designer can easily select the most appropriate one according to the current network requirements.  相似文献
