The aim of this work was to determine antioxidant capacities, neuroprotective, skin care, antidiabetic effects, and fatty acid composition of Anchusa undulata subsp. hybrida. The antioxidant activity was screened by four different test systems including total antioxidant, antiradical, reducing power, and metal chelating activities. Neuroprotective potential was determined by anticholinesterase inhibitor assay. Tyrosinase inhibitory activity was tested to detect skin care effect. Antidiabetic effects were evaluated with α-amylase and α-glucosidase inhibitory assays. Inhibitory activities on acetycholinesterase, butyrylcholinesterase, tyrosinase, α-amylase, and α-glucosidase enzymes were observed as 2.238 and 1.239 μmol GALAEs/g, 0.339 mmol KAEs/g, 0.193, and 0.219 mmol ACEs/g extract, respectively. Amount of total phenolics and flavonoids were found as 80.34 μg GAEs/mg and 25.09 μg QEs/mg in the extract, respectively. Twenty-three fatty acids were found in the aerial parts, being oleic acid (24.30 g/100 g of total fatty acids) the most abundant, followed by linoleic (21.19 g/100 g of total fatty acids) and palmitic acids (17.50 g/100 g of total fatty acids). 相似文献

BACKGROUND: The kinetic and thermodynamic parameters of mancozeb degradation in tomato homogenates under the conditions prevailing in the manufacture of tomato products (at 60–100 °C for 0–60 min) were investigated. A gas chromatography–mass spectrometry method was used to analyse residual mancozeb in tomato homogenate. Ethylenethiourea (ETU), the main toxic degradation product of mancozeb, was measured by high‐performance liquid chromatography (HPLC)–with photodiode array detector (PDA). RESULTS: The degradation of mancozeb and the formation of ETU in tomato homogenates were adequately described as first‐order kinetics. Dependence of the rate constant followed the Arrhenius relationship. Apparent activation energies, temperature coefficients, half time and time to reduce to 90% of the initial value of mancozeb were calculated as kinetic parameters. The thermodynamic parameters of mancozeb were also described as Δgd = ? 2.440 and 7.074 kJ mol?1; Δhd = ? 32.555 and ? 42.767 kJ mol?1; Δsd = ? 0.090 and ? 0.150 kJ mol?1 K?1; Ke = 0.414 and 9.797 L g?1 for 333 and 373 K respectively. CONCLUSION: Current findings may shed light on the reduction of mancozeb residue and its toxic degradation product during thermal processing of tomatoes and may also be valuable in awareness and prevention of potential risks from dietary exposure. The quality assessment of wild European eel (Anguilla anguilla) stored in ice and in boxes without ice (3 ± 1 °C) was investigated by the sensory analysis, levels of nucleotide breakdown products and biogenic amines for up to 19 days. Sensory analysis was assessed using the Tasmanian Food Research Unit Scheme. K and related values (Ki, G, P, H and Fr) were used as freshness indicators. Linear regressions (r2) obtained from K, Ki, G, P, H and Fr were 0.95, 0.96, 0.83, 0.96, 0.99 and 0.96, respectively, for eel stored in ice whereas, for eel kept in boxes without ice, the values were 0.86, 0.86, 0.96, 0.91, 0.98 and 0.86, respectively. When eel stored in ice and in boxes without ice were considered at the limit of acceptability by assessors at ∼12–14 days and ∼5–7 days, respectively, the average K, Ki and P values were ∼70–85%, H values were ∼60% and Fr values were ∼10% for both storage conditions. The level of histamine exceeded the legal limit (5 mg/100 g fish) in eel stored without ice after 6–7 days and, in ice, after 13–14 days of storage, at which time eels were rejected by the sensory panel. The concentrations of biogenic amines were higher in eel stored in boxes without ice than in eel kept in ice. The levels of histamine in the muscle of eel kept in boxes without ice and in ice increased to the maximum levels of 17.9 mg/100 g on day 12 and 12.6 mg/100 g on day 19, respectively. 相似文献

Despite eggs having a natural packaging—shell—they are perishable and can lose their quality during storage. Chitosan‐based coatings were applied to shell eggs to examine potential effects on egg quality properties (weight loss, Haugh unit, yolk index) during 4 weeks of storage. Mineral amounts in yolks were also evaluated after 4 weeks of storage. Three chitosan‐based coatings produced with organic acids (acetic‐(C‐AA), lactic‐(C‐LA), and propionic (C‐PA)) were evaluated on shelf‐life enhancements of fresh egg quality. All chitosan‐coated eggs showed greater interior quality than the non‐coated eggs. The coatings significantly maintained weight loss compared to the control specimen (4.96%). Lower weight loss (3.45% for C‐PA, 3.53% for C‐LA) was observed in the coated eggs. Eggshell chitosan coat containing lactic and propionic acids maintained higher Haugh unit and yolk index than eggs coated with acetic acid. Uncoated (UC) eggs changed from grade ‘A’ to ‘B’ after 1 week of storage. Chitosan‐based coating containing lactic and propionic acids maintained eggs in grade ‘A’ for 4 weeks. Haugh unit showed that C‐LA and C‐PA effectively maintained eggs at grade ‘A’ quality for at least 3 weeks more than control and 1 week more than C‐AA. Results also indicated that the chitosan coating maintained mineral amounts at nutritional values (especially calcium, iron and magnesium concentration) in yolks after 4 weeks storage. This study aimed to evaluate the in vitro antioxidant and enzyme inhibitory activities of ethyl acetate, methanol, and water extracts of Bituminaria bituminosa. In phosphomolybdenum assay, the methanol extract showed the highest activity (166.78 μmol TEs/g dry plant). The water extract exhibited the highest scavenging activity on 1,1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH?) and 2,2-azino-bis (3-ethylbenzothiazloine-6-sulphonic acid) (ABTS?+). In addition, it exhibited the highest activity in cupric ion reducing (CUPRAC) and ferric reducing antioxidant power (FRAP) assays (41.26 and 46.82 μmol TEs/g dry plant). The extracts did not show cholinesterase and tyrosinase inhibitory activity. However, α-glucosidase inhibition assay resulted in the superiority of water extract (1233.86 μmol ACEs/g dry plant). In the case of α-amylase inhibitory assay, the ethyl acetate extract showed the highest activity (53.65 μmol ACEs/g dry plant). The water extract exhibited the highest phenolic content (31.70 μmol GAEs/g dry plant). In contrast, the methanol extract was found rich in flavonoid compounds (5.29 μmol REs/g dry plant). The water extract contained considerable amounts of rosmarinic acid, luteolin, quercetin, and rutin. BACKGROUND: Maintaining soil productivity is essential if agriculture production systems are to be sustainable. However, there is a paucity of tools for measurement for the purpose of understanding changes in soil productivity. Fuzzy logic‐based analysis offers this possibility. It is a new method on the evaluation of soil productivity in Turkey and even in the world. RESULTS: Values for pH, salinity, carbonate and organic matter were entered into the system as input variables so as to obtain soil productivity as the output. After the membership functions related to input and output were determined, rules were created. Then, the fuzzy logic system was applied separately to pH, salinity, lime and organic matter values of different soil types present in the Kocaeli region with the aim of obtaining corresponding fuzzy values. Thus, soil productivity profiles of the region were deciphered. CONCLUSION: Organic matter levels in the study field remained below 30 g kg?1 and varied between 22 and 28 g kg?1. Productivity values were obtained as a percentage and varied between 16.9% and 18.1%. The lime content of the study soils varied in the range of 33–88 g kg?1. In this paper, a study on the development of a numerical modeling of the detonation of C H N O‐based gaseous explosives is presented. In accordance with the numerical model, a FORTRAN computer code named GasPX has been developed to compute both the detonation point and the detonation properties on the basis of Chapman–Jouguet (C‐J) theory. The determination of the detonation properties in GasPX is performed in chemical equilibrium and steady‐state conditions. GasPX has two improvements over other thermodynamic equilibrium codes, which predict steady‐state detonation properties of gaseous explosives. First, GasPX employs a nonlinear optimization code based on Generalized Reduced Gradient (GRG) algorithm to compute the equilibrium composition of the detonation products. This optimization code provides a higher level of robustness of the solutions and global optimum determination efficiency. Second, GasPX can calculate the solid carbon formation in the products for gaseous explosives with high carbon content. Detonation properties such as detonation pressure, detonation temperature, detonation energy, mole fractions of species at the detonation point, etc. have been calculated by GasPX for many gaseous explosives. The comparison between the results from this study and those of CEA code by NASA and the experimental studies in the literature are in good agreement. 相似文献

In this paper, the results of a laboratory investigation conducted with heat evolution of high-volume fly ash (HVFA) concrete are presented. Heat evolution of concrete was studied by measuring the temperature increase in concrete under adiabatic curing condition. Characteristic of heat evolution of fly ash concrete was found to be strongly dependent on the replacement level of fly ash and dosage of superplasticizer used to maintain workability. It was also found that using fly ash as cement replacement resulted in a reduction on the maximum temperature rise. Increasing the replacement level of fly ash caused lower temperature rise in concrete. Superplasticizer caused a delay in peak temperature rise time; this is taken as an indicator that high-dosage superplasticizer used in concrete caused retardation in hydration of cement. Concretes having similar ingredients showed similar peak temperature rise whether they are superplasticized or not. 相似文献
