The sample-path perturbation analysis technique is extended to include finite (and possibly large) perturbations typically introduced by changes in queue sizes or other parameters. It is shown that there is a natural hierarchy of perturbation analysis which takes care of increasingly large perturbations. Experiments with zero (infinitesimal) and first order (finite) perturbation analysis show that significant accuracy improvement can be obtained with small increase in computational effort.  相似文献

The conventional approach for the implementation of the knowledge base of a planning agent, on an intelligent embedded system, is solely of software nature. It requires the existence of a compiler that transforms the initial declarative logic program, specifying the knowledge base, to its equivalent procedural one, to be programmed to the embedded systems microprocessor. This practice increases the complexity of the final implementation (the declarative to sequential transformation adds a great amount of software code for simulating the declarative execution) and reduces the overall systems performance (logic derivations require the use of a stack and a great number of jump instructions for their evaluation). The design of specialized hardware implementations, which are only capable of supporting logic programs, in an effort to resolve the aforementioned problems, introduces limitations in their use in applications where logic programs need to be intertwined with traditional procedural ones in a desired application. In this paper, we exploit HW/SW codesign methods to present a microprocessor, capable of supporting hybrid applications using both programming approaches. We take advantage of the close relationship between attribute grammar (AG) evaluation and knowledge engineering methods to present a programmable hardware parser that performs logic derivations and combine it with an extension of a conventional RISC microprocessor that performs the unification process to report the success or failure of logic derivations. The extended RISC microprocessor is still capable of executing conventional procedural programs, thus hybrid applications can be implemented. The presented implementation increases the performance of logic derivations for the control inference process (experimental analysis yields an approximate 1000% – 10 times increase in performance) and reduces the complexity of the final implemented code through the introduction of an extended C language called C-AG that simplifies the programming of hybrid procedural-declarative applications.  相似文献

An ultrasound-based remote sensing method to evaluate the mechanical properties of materials is presented. This method consists of a disk-shaped, piezoelectric transducer, operating at its resonance frequency, and a phase-shifted, feedback circuit. Mechanical parameters are derived by analyzing the signal contained in the phase-shifted values of the reflected signal. It is concluded that, using this novel transducer system and signal processing, remote mechanical measurements can be made. Such measurements obviate the need to apply the force-deformation approach and may be used to enable stiffness imaging.  相似文献

A new methodology is presented, called differential potentiometric titration (DPT), which allows the determination of the point of zero charge (pzc) of metal (hydr)oxides using only one potentiometric curve. By performing extensive simulations of potentiometric titrations for various model (hydr)oxides, we found that an inflection point in a H+(cons,surf) versus pH potentiometric curve (H+(cons,surf): hydrogen ions consumed on the surface of the (hydr)oxide) and a peak in the corresponding differential curve, dH+(cons,surf)/dpH versus pH, appear at a pH equal to the pzc assumed for a model (hydr)oxide. This distinguishable peak appears at the same position irrespective of the surface ionization and the interfacial model adopted as well as the assumed ionic strength. It was found that the aforementioned peak also appears in the high-resolution differential potentiometric curves experimentally determined for four oxides (SiO2, TiO2, gamma-Al2O3, and MgO) that are widely used in various environmental and other technological applications. The application of DPT to the above-mentioned oxides provided practically the same pzc values as the corresponding ones achieved by using four different techniques as well as the corresponding isoelectric point (iep) values determined by microelectrophoresis. Differences between the pzc and iep values determined using various techniques in the case of MgO were attributed to the increasing dissolution of this oxide as pH decreases and the adsorption of cations (Mg2+, Na+) on the MgO/electrolytic solution interface.  相似文献

A FORTRAN IV computer code for the micromechanics, macromechanics, and laminate analysis of multilayered fiber composite structural components is described. The code can be used either individually or as a subroutine within a complex structural analysis/synthesis program. The inputs to the code are constituent materials properties, composite geometry, and loading conditions. The outputs are various properties for ply and composite; composite structural response, including bending-stretching coupling; and composite stress analysis, including comparisons with failure criteria for combined stress. The code was used successfully in the analysis and structural synthesis of flat panels, in the buckling analysis of flat panels, in multilayered composite material failure studies, and lamination residual stresses analysis.  相似文献

General steady-state data reconciliation with both measured and un-measured variables is treated through theoretical vector space methods. Instead of solving the initial equality constrained optimization problem, a parametrized regular least squares regression onto the null space of the Jacobian matrix of the constraining equations is performed, yielding adjusted estimates of process variables. Additionally the full structure of the Jacobian, through its singular value decomposition, is exploited in order to state classification rules for the process variables with regards to redundancy and observability as well as to obtain estimates of observable variables. The method is exemplified by applying it to a small process monitoring network for which mass balance provides the physical constraints. Furthermore, the covariance matrix of the adjustments is used in order assist in the design of an improved network with respect to the number of flow-meters required so that reliable estimates of the process variables can be obtained.  相似文献

The implementation of successful assured forwarding (AF) services according to the DiffServ framework remains a challenging problem today, despite the numerous proposals for assured forwarding per‐hop‐behaviour (AF PHB) mechanisms and AF‐based service implementations. The interaction of the TCP and UDP traffic under an AF‐based service and a number of relative issues such as fairness among flows, achievable bandwidth guarantees and qualitative performance have been taken into consideration in this work in order to address the existing limitations. We propose two modules, the TCP‐window aware marker (TWAM) and the dynamic WRED (WRED) mechanism for implementing the differentiated services (DiffServ) AF PHB. We provide analytical models and an experimental evaluation in order to demonstrate how they succeed in enhancing the quality, improving the performance and easing the deployment of a production level AF‐based service. Polypropylene (PP) nanocomposites with multi‐walled carbon nanotubes (CNT) were produced by a small‐scale masterbatch melt dilution technique using five PP differing in melt flow index (MFI) and degree of maleination. PP used in a masterbatch has MFI = 12 (PP12), the others used PP which have MFI = 2 or MFI = 8. The state of CNT dispersion as assessed by melt rheological and morphological investigations indicated a better dispersion when using unmodified PP with MFI = 8 (PP8) and the masterbatch's PP12. Electrical conductivity results showed nanotube percolation at contents between 1.1 and 2.0 vol %, whereas lower values were obtained for the matrices with the best dispersion, i.e., PP8 and PP12. The dependencies of the relative Young's modulus on the CNT content showed that the maleinization improved the interfacial interactions between the components, especially in the case of maleated PP with MFI = 8 (PP‐MA8), but the better dispersion was prevented by the incompatibility between polar groups of PP‐MA and the nonpolar origin masterbatch PP12. © 2009 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Surface redox activities, oxygen evolution reaction (OER), oxidation of formic acid (FA), and anodic stability were investigated and compared for IrO2 electrodes prepared by two techniques: the thermal decomposition of H2IrCl6 precursor (TDIROF) and the anodic oxidation of metallic iridium (AIROF). Surface redox activities involved on the AIROF were found to be much faster than those involved on the TDIROF. Concerning the oxygen evolution reaction, both films show a similar mechanism and specific electrocatalytic activities. The situation seems to be different for FA oxidation. In fact, on TDIROF, the oxidation of FA and the OER compete involving the same surface redox couple Ir(VI)/Ir(IV) contrary to FA oxidation on AIROF, where the Ir(V)/Ir(IV) surface redox couple is involved. Finally, electrode stability measurements have shown that contrary to TDIROF, which are very stable under anodic polarization, the AIROF are rapidly corroded under anodic treatment. This corrosion is enhanced even further in the presence of formic acid.  相似文献
