This paper describes a research approach based on the Actor-Network Theory (ANT) to interpret and understand the Korea’s strategy for the development of the ubiquitous city (u-city). Analyzing empirical materials from u-city development, this study traces and unpacks the interaction occurring around the u-city innovation and also identifies patterns of innovation, concentrating on negotiation and translation implementation. The findings imply that Korean approach has marginalized key issues relating to the development potential inherent in the combination of knowledge and technology and thus conflicts with broader development suggestions of participative design. Korean case reveals the essential role of participatory design in u-city development. U-city as a public utility should draw users’ perspectives, its design should be heavily grounded in users’ needs, and its design decisions should be based on a community consensus.  相似文献

Monolithic, cascadable, laser-logic-device arrays have been realized and characterized. The monolithic surface-emitting laser logic (SELL) device consists of an AlGaAs superlattice lasing around 780 nm connected to a heterojunction phototransistor (HPT) in parallel and a resistor in series. Partitioning is an important step in the top-down design of large complicated integrated circuits. In this paper, a simple yet effective partitioning technique is described. It is based on the clustering of “closely” connected cells and the gradual enforcement of size-constraints. At the beginning, clusters are formed in the bottom-up fashion to reduce the problem size. Then the clusters are partitioned using several different parameters to find a good starting point. The best result achieved during the cluster partitioning is used as the initial solution for the lower level partitioning. The gradual constraint enforcement technique is used to cope with the local minimum problems. It allows cells or clusters to move with more freedom among the subsets during earlier iterations and thus may effectively find a near optimum solution. Several experimental results show that the new partitioning technique produces favorable results. In particular, the method outperforms the F&M method by more than 60% in the number of crossing nets on average  相似文献

As the aperture size of oxide-apertured vertical-cavity surface-emitting lasers (VCSELs) shrinks, the lasing wavelength blueshifts. We have calculated this effect using both a scalar effective index model and a full-vector weighted index model. Results were compared against experimental data for two different VCSEL designs emitting near 780 and 850 nm. We find that the full-vector weighted index calculation matches the data remarkably well, while the scalar effective index calculation underestimates the blueshift  相似文献

In multi-code CDMA, there is no self-interference among the sub-codes of a single user. By taking advantage of this property, the authors propose a new scheduling scheme to improve throughput, and derive the system throughputs of two cases with the proposed scheme applied and not applied. An integrated optical high-voltage sensor is realized by fabricating a Y-branch digital optical switch in an electrooptic polymer. The measurement of ac high voltage is accomplished by using the linear transfer characteristics of the switch at zero bias voltage. Furthermore, the logarithmic ratio between the optical powers of two output ports may be used to remove the noise caused by the power fluctuations of a light source. The polymeric high-voltage sensor requires no electrical dc biases and no voltage dividers. It is also wavelength insensitive and fabrication-tolerant due to its use of mode evolution effects instead of interference. The measured sensing voltage range is as large as ac 500-V peak-to-peak.  相似文献

The leakage current characteristics of the cobalt silicided NMOS transistors with a junction depth of 800 Å have been studied. In order to minimize the junction leakage current, the thickness of the CoSi2 layer should he controlled under 300 Å and the Si surface damage induced by the gate spacer etch should be minimized. The post furnace annealing after the second silicidation by the rapid thermal annealing (RTA) process also affected the leakage current characteristics. The gate induced drain leakage (GIDL) current was not affected by the lateral encroachment of CoSi2 layer into the channel direction when the gate spacer length was larger than 400 Å  相似文献
