In Role Based Access Control (RBAC) systems, it is necessary and important to update the role–permission assignments in order to reflect the evolutions of the system transactions. However, role updating is generally complex and challenging, especially for large-scale RBAC systems. This is because the resulting state is usually expected to meet various requirements and constraints. In this paper, we focus on a fundamental problem of role updating in RBAC, which determines whether there exists a valid role–permission assignment, i.e., whether it can satisfy all the requirements of the role updating and without violating any role–capacity or permission–capacity constraint. We formally define such a problem as the Role Updating Feasibility Problem (RUFP), and study the computational complexity of RUFP in different subcases. In previous works on current measured by along-track interferometric synthetic aperture radar (ATISAR), the decorrelation function of an ocean-surface backscattering signal was usually assumed to be a real Gaussian function, i.e. the phase term was omitted. In this study, it is proved that the omission of the phase term included in the decorrelation function results in a significant estimation bias that can be modelled by a higher-order function of time lag and that the coefficients of this higher-order function can be expressed as a series of higher-order Doppler spectral moments. This model is validated by the scatterometer data obtained from an experimental wind-wave tank. The estimation bias especially needs to be considered for the ATISAR system with a long time lag. Simulation results show that if the time lag is equal to the coherence time, the estimation bias of the current can reach about 0.2 m s?1, which is not insignificant in high-precision current-retrieving applications. However, because most real-life ATISAR systems, including TerraSAR-X, operate with time lags significantly shorter than the expected coherence time, the estimation biases in these systems are relatively small or even negligible. Rate control plays an important role in regulating bit streams in video coding. In order to obtain good coding performance, the hierarchical B prediction structure has been adopted in Multi-view Video Coding (MVC). However, the conventional rate control scheme is not efficient in the hierarchical B prediction structure. In this paper, we propose a rate control algorithm to address this problem. First, the accurate estimation of Mean Absolute Distortion (MAD) of the current frame is desired for both quantization parameter (QP) selection and Rate Distortion Optimization (RDO). Considering the hierarchical B structure, a bi-directional MAD prediction model is proposed to predict the MAD of the current frame by using the actual MADs of the encoded frames in the lower Temporal Layers (TLs). Second, the number of header bits has a close relationship with the TLs in the hierarchical B prediction structure. Therefore, we propose an enhanced prediction method in which a proportional relationship of the header bits is introduced if the frames are located in different TLs. Influence Maximization aims to find the top-K influential individuals to maximize the influence spread within a social network, which remains an important yet challenging problem. Most existing greedy algorithms mainly focus on computing the exact influence spread, leading to low computational efficiency and limiting their application to real-world social networks. While in this paper we show that through supervised sampling, we can efficiently estimate the influence spread at only negligible cost of precision, thus significantly reducing the execution time. Motivated by this, we propose ESMCE, a power-law exponent supervised Monte Carlo estimation method. In particular, ESMCE exploits the power-law exponent of the social network to guide the sampling, and employs multiple iterative steps to guarantee the estimation accuracy. Moreover, ESMCE shows excellent scalability and well suits large-scale social networks. Extensive experiments on six real-world social networks demonstrate that, compared with state-of-the-art greedy algorithms, ESMCE is able to achieve almost two orders of magnitude speedup in execution time with only negligible error (2.21 % on average) in influence spread. 相似文献
