Since I assumed editorial responsibilities in October 1993, this issue is the first to include only articles accepted by the new Editorial Committee. It therefore seems important, at this point, to take our bearings before plotting a new course. In the first issue of the Journal published in 1969, Mary Wright, then President of the Canadian Psychological Association defined its focus as being concerned with social problems from the point of view of research, theory, and applications. A scan of the content of CJBS since then reveals a constant predominance of papers in the areas of personality and social psychology. Following at some distance are articles in the areas of therapy/clinical psychology, measurement, and social development. Articles related to education were relatively more abundant in the early volumes of the Journal than they are now. Finally, articles pertaining to industrial/organizational psychology were published starting in the early 1980's. These data confirm that the Journal has fulfilled its primary goal through the years. Further supporting that conclusion, they also suggest a trend towards incorporating, together with the more 'academic' articles, contributions directed towards applications of psychology, notably in the clinical and measurement areas. Photoactivated Reversible Deactivation Radical Polymerization (RDRP) technologies have emerged very recently in the field of 3D printing systems especially at the macroscale in vat-photopolymerization-based processes such as digital light processing (DLP). Contrary to conventional free radical photopolymerization, photoRDRP in 3D printing leads to 3D objects with living character and thus confers them the unique ability to be post-modified after fabrication. While 3D direct laser writing (3D DLW) by two photon polymerization has become a standard for fabrication of complex 3D micro-objects, the use of RDRP and its associated benefits has so far been under-investigated at that scale. Herein, a photoresist suitable for 3D DLW based on nitroxide mediated photopolymerization (NMP2) is developed. The photopolymerization efficiency for fabrication of micro-structures and their subsequent post-modification are investigated regarding the laser power and the wavelength of excitation. Moreover, highly tunable, precise, and successive surface patterning of 2D and 3D multi-material microstructures are demonstrated thanks to the spatial and temporal control offered by the photo-induced post-modification. This work highlights new directions to be explored in order to accelerate the adoption of RDRP in 3D printing based on photopolymerization.  相似文献

Oxidative damage and infection can prevent or delay tissue repair. Moreover, infection reinforces reactive oxygen species (ROS) formation, which makes the wound's condition even worse. Therefore, the need for antioxidant and antibacterial agents is felt for tissue regeneration. There are emerging up-and-coming biomaterials that recapitulate both properties into a package, offering an effective solution to turn the wound back into a healing state. In this article, the principles of antioxidant and antibacterial activity are summarized. The review starts with biological aspects, getting the readers to familiarize themselves with tissue barriers against infection. This is followed by the chemistry and mechanism of action of antioxidant and antibacterial materials (dual function). Eventually, the outlook and challenges are underlined to provide where the dual-function biomaterials are and where they are going in the future. It is expected that the present article inspires the designing of dual-function biomaterials to more advanced levels by providing the fundamentals and comparative points of view and paving the clinical way for these materials.  相似文献

Improving the tumor reoxygenation to sensitize the tumor to radiation therapy is a cornerstone in radiation oncology. Here, the pre-clinical development of a clinically transferable liposomal formulation encapsulating trans sodium crocetinate (NP TSC) is reported to improve oxygen diffusion through the tumor environment. Early pharmacokinetic analysis of the clinical trial of this molecule performed on 37 patients orient to define the optimal fixed dosage to use in a triple-negative breast cancer model to validate the therapeutic combination of radiation therapy and NP TSC. Notably, it is reported that this formulation is non-toxic in both humans and mice at the defined fixed concentration, provides a normalization of the tumor vasculature within 72 h window after systemic injection, leads to a transient increase (50% improvement) in the tumor oxygenation, and significantly improves the efficacy of both mono-fractionated and fractionated radiation therapy treatment. Together, these findings support the introduction of a first-in-class therapeutic construct capable of tumor-specific reoxygenation without associated toxicities.  相似文献
