A catanionic mixture based on three components, N-dodecyldiethanolamine, decanoic acid and azelaic acid, was prepared and investigated from a physico-chemical point of view and for its antimicrobial activity. The spontaneously formed vesicles were characterized by dynamic light scattering, zeta potential and electron microscopy. These experiments showed spherical vesicles with an average diameter of 200 nm and a zeta potential of +22 mV. The antimicrobial activity of the vesicle dispersion against different strains (Staphylococcus aureus, Escherichia coli, Staphylococcus epidermidis, Propionibacterium acnes and Candida albicans), was evaluated and compared with the activity of the components separately. The synergistic effect of these bioactive self-assembled catanionic vesicles on the spectrum of activity and on the cytoplasmic membrane is discussed.  相似文献

The authors tested whether a focus on dreams added something specific to the therapy process beyond the structure of a 3-stage approach. Fourteen distressed clients with troubling dreams and recent loss of a loved one participated in brief structured therapy focused on dreams or loss. After therapy, clients in both conditions reported being satisfied with therapy, having lowered impact of the loss, gaining new insights about themselves, and having made changes. In addition, clients in the dream condition rated the process of therapy higher, became involved in the therapeutic process more quickly, gained more understanding of their dreams, liked the structure of therapy more, and kept fewer secrets from their therapists than clients in the loss condition. In contrast, clients in the loss condition gained more insight about the effects of the past and their loss and liked therapist guidance more than clients in the dream condition. Heart failure (HF) affects up to over 20% of patients with type 2 diabetes (T2DM), even more in the elderly. Although, in T2DM, both hyperglycemia and the proinflammatory status induced by insulin resistance are crucial in cardiac function impairment, SGLT2i cardioprotective mechanisms against HF are several. In particular, these beneficial effects seem attributable to the significant reduction of intracellular sodium levels, well-known to exert a cardioprotective role in the prevention of oxidative stress and consequent cardiomyocyte death. From a molecular perspective, patients’ exposure to gliflozins’ treatment mimics nutrient and oxygen deprivation, with consequent autophagy stimulation. This allows to maintain the cellular homeostasis through different degradative pathways. Thus, since their introduction in the clinical practice, the hypotheses on SGLT2i mechanisms of action have changed: from simple glycosuric drugs, with consequent glucose lowering, erythropoiesis enhancing and ketogenesis stimulating, to intracellular sodium-lowering molecules. This provides their consequent cardioprotective effect, which justifies its significant reduction in CV events, especially in populations at higher risk. Finally, the updated clinical evidence of SGLT2i benefits on HF was summarized. Thus, this review aimed to analyze the cardioprotective mechanisms of sodium glucose transporter 2 inhibitors (SGLT2i) in patients with HF, as well as their clinical impact on cardiovascular events.  相似文献

Functionality of squid surimi (Dosidicus gigas) made by two methods (isoelectric precipitation A, and acid washing, B) and stored for 6 months at −15 °C, was analysed as a function of several cryoprotectants. The cryoprotectant effect was studied in terms of the ability to form suwari gels (SA and SB) from the two kinds of surimi. Chemical analyses to detect protein aggregation, dynamic oscillatory tests at constant temperature (10 °C) and temperature sweep tests from 10 to 90 °C were performed.  相似文献

The goal of this article is to delineate training implications regarding harmful effects associated with psychotherapy. The authors strongly recommend that trainees be made aware of (and encouraged to examine carefully) the potentially harmful treatments that have been recently identified (Lilienfeld, 2007). Consistent with a broad perspective on evidence-based practice, it is also argued that additional guidelines for the prevention and repair of harmful impacts can be derived from psychotherapy research on process (technique and relationship) and participant (client and therapist) variables. For example, rigid adherence to the application of psychotherapy techniques can be a potentially harmful therapist behavior that necessitates careful training on the nature and flexible use of interventions. Furthermore, the authors suggest that trainers and supervisors tentatively consider training implications linked to clinical observations and theoretical assertions, such as the premature use of clinical interpretations, with the assumption that more confidence in such therapeutic guidelines can be gained when they are supported by multiple knowledge sources (empirical, clinical, conceptual). Finally, training implications related to the monitoring of harmful effects in terms of treatment outcome and process are demarcated. Nutrient loss during drying of a shrinking product was determined. A diffusion model that takes into account the shrinkage of the product in the mass balance equation was used, together with a simplified energy balance with no thermal gradients, and convective boundary conditions for both balances. Nutrient loss prediction was obtained, for first and second order kinetics. Finally, a new methodology was proposed, to determine the activation energy and the preexponential of the deterioration reaction, even when the differential equations that rules the drying process are unknown, and only the thermal history of the product is available. This approach is also valid for sterilization calculations, if temperature gradients can be neglected, i.e. when Biot number for heat transfer is small.  相似文献
