Twelve patients with segmental mandibular defects were reconstructed with fibula osteoseptocutaneous flaps and simultaneous placement of osseointegrated implants. Decision to perform this procedure was based on the facts that all patients had benign diseases, did not require postoperative radiotherapy, were in good general and oral conditions, and were psychologically motivated. A total of 34 fixtures was inserted in the first stage. Eight patients underwent second stage surgery, which consisted of connection of the implant abutments to the fixtures and the use of palatal mucosal grafts around the implants. Final dental prostheses were fixed 1 month later in seven patients, at this time. All flaps survived after surgery, and no implant failure was observed after a mean follow-up period of 25 months. Only one fixture was not used during the subsequent stage and was left as a sleeper. Fixed dental prostheses were used in five patients and removable overlay prostheses in the other two. Chewing function was recovered between 4 and 6 weeks after the start using the definitive dental prosthesis. In contrast to previous results, we conclude that excellent results can be achieved when this combined procedure is used in carefully selected patients. In addition, it is confirmed that the fibula osteoseptocutaneous flap is a versatile, reliable composite tissue that facilitates primary placement of osseointegrated dental implants during mandible reconstruction, thus allowing full oral rehabilitation in a shorter period of time.  相似文献

Three gamma crosslinked polymeric hydrogels were synthesized and evaluated as lead ion sorbents. A crosslinked poly(acrylic acid) hydrogel was compared with two 4-vinylpiridine-grafted poly(acrylic acid) hydrogels (26.74 and 48.1% 4-vinylpiridine). The retention properties for Pb(II) from aqueous solutions of these three polymers were investigated by batch equilibrium procedure. The effects of pH, contact time and Pb(II) concentration were evaluated. The optimal pH range for all polymers was 4-6. The lightly grafted polymer (PAAc-g-4VP at 26.74%) exhibited a Pb(II) removal close to 80% at 5 h and above 90% at 24 h. The maximum Pb(II) removal was 117.9 mg g−1 of polymer and followed the Freundlich adsorption model. XPS characterization indicates that the carboxyl groups are involved in the Pb(II) removal.  相似文献

The aim of this experimental work was to study the influence of the operation mode (i.e. cycle time and relative duration of ads-/desorption phases, R) as well as of the operating conditions on the performance of an adsorption chiller. The testing campaign demonstrated that the management optimization strongly improves the performance of such kind of machines. The Coefficient of Performance (COP) and the Specific/Volumetric Cooling Power (SCP, VCP) vary, respectively, in a range of ±133% and ±43% when the cycle time (τcycle) increases from 5 to 20 min at fixed boundary conditions (Te = 15 °C, Tc = 35 °C, Th = 90 °C) while a further increasing in performance (up to 15%) is reached, at fixed cycle time, by protracting the duration of the adsorption phase at the expense of the desorption one. The complete set of results allowed to draw a map of performance suitable for the optimization of the management mode taking into account the specific application. At Te = 15 °C, Tc = 35 °C, Th = 90 °C, if high SCP is required (e.g. automotive air conditioning), the optimal choice is τcycle = 7 min and R = 2.5 (SCP = 394 W/kg, COP = 0.60, VCP = 223 W/m3) while to assure a good efficiency (e.g. solar cooling) the proper management is τcycle = 20 min and R = 1 (SCP = 204 W/kg, COP = 0.69, VCP = 116 W/m3).  相似文献

Chymotrypsin II from the viscera of Monterey sardine was characterized as an isoform of chymotrypsin I previously characterized from the same source and compared with bovine chymotrypsin. Chymotrypsin II had a molecular weight of 25,500 Da, similar to bovine chymotrypsin. The isoform identity as chymotrypsin was established by its catalytic specificity on the specific substrates succinyl-l-ala-ala-pro-l-phenylalanine-p-nitroanilide and benzoyl-l-tyrosine ethyl ester, showing higher specific activity than bovine chymotrypsin. Both enzymes showed maximal activity at pH 8.0, chymotrypsin II being stable at alkaline pH while bovine chymotrypsin was stable at acid and alkaline pH. Optimum temperature was 45 °C for chymotrypsin II and 55 °C for bovine chymotrypsin. Both enzymes were inhibited by phenylmethylsulfonyl-fluoride and soybean trypsin inhibitor, and partially by N-toluenesulfonyl-l-phenylalanine chloromethyl-ketone. This is valid only in specific conditions of this work. Km and kcat for chymotrypsin II were 0.048 mM and 4.8 s−1, and 0.09 mM and 1.9 s−1 for bovine chymotrypsin. Catalytic efficiency of chymotrypsin II was 4.8-fold higher than bovine chymotrypsin.  相似文献

This article reports the breaking of ethological barriers through the constitution of soma-germ line chimeras between species of the melanogaster subgroup of Drosophila, which are ethologically isolated. Female Drosophila yakuba and D. teissieri germ cells in a D. melanogaster ovary produced functional oocytes that, when fertilized by D. melanogaster sperm, gave rise to sterile yakuba-melanogaster and teissieri-melanogaster male and female hybrids. However, the erecta-melanogaster and orena-melanogaster hybrids were lethal, since female D. erecta and D. orena germ cells in a D. melanogaster ovary failed to form oocytes with the capacity to develop normally. This failure appears to be caused by an altered interaction between the melanogaster soma and the erecta and orena germ lines. Germ cells of D. teissieri and D. orena in a D. melanogaster testis produced motile sperm that was not stored in D. melanogaster females. This might be due to incompatibility between the teissieri and orena sperm and the melanogaster seminal fluid. A morphological analysis of the terminalia of yakuba-melanogaster and teissieri-melanogaster hybrids was performed. The effect on the terminalia of teissieri-melanogaster hybrids of a mutation in doublesex, a regulatory gene that controls the development of the terminalia, was also investigated.  相似文献

Age-related loss of strength contributes to impaired mobility and increases the risk of falls. Recent research has focused on 2 approaches to preventing age-related loss of strength--promoting physical activity and exercise (especially strength training) and using trophic factors to enhance muscle performance. Epidemiologic evidence strongly supports a role of regular physical activity in successful aging by preserving muscle performance, promoting mobility, and reducing fall risk. Randomized controlled trials provide convincing evidence that strength and endurance training improve muscle performance in older adults. Evidence is rapidly accumulating from randomized trials that endurance, strength, and balance training promote mobility and reduce fall risk, though exercise effects differ according to the type of exercise, details of the exercise program, and the target group of older adults. Because lifetime regular physical activity is recommended for all older adults, a reasonable strategy (especially for weak adults) is an activity program that includes strength training. In contrast, insufficient evidence exists to recommend the long-term use of trophic factors to preserve muscular performance. An intervention that merits additional study is avoiding the use of psychoactive drugs because drugs like benzodiazepines appear to be risk factors for inactivity and may have unrecognized direct effects on muscular performance. Because chronic illness is a risk factor for inactivity and disuse muscle atrophy, randomized trials comparing strength training with other interventions would be useful in understanding whether strength training has advantages in preserving muscle performance and improving health-related quality of life in a variety of chronic illnesses such as depressive illness.  相似文献

The copolymerization of maleic anhydride (MAn) with phenyl-4-vinylphenylbutadiyne(PVPB) was carried out using 2, 2-azobisisobutyronitrile as an initiator. Although PVPB does not homopolymerize by free radicals in solution, it copolymerized giving copolymers having average molecular weights up to 12,000, and consisting of slightly more PVPB units. The monomer reactivity ratios were estimated to be r (MAn)=0 and r (PVPB) =0.1–0.2. It was concluded that the copolymerization likely proceeds via a free monomer propagation mechanism rather than through a donor-acceptor complex mechanism.  相似文献
