We present numerical simulations describing the dynamics of two multisection semiconductor lasers emitting in a chaotic regime coupled in a master-slave configuration. By changing the current of the passive section of the master laser, we observe a change in the maximum correlation between the outputs of the two systems. These devices are promising candidates for on-off phase-shift keying encryption.  相似文献

The aim of this open pilot study was to evaluate the efficacy of fluvoxamine in the continuation as well as in the maintenance therapy of delusional depression. Thirty patients with recurrent, unipolar depression (DSM-IV criteria) were selected who had at least one depressive episode during the 18 months preceding the delusional depressive index episode and were treated with fluvoxamine 300 mg/day. Twenty-five of them had a sustained response to this short-term treatment and agreed to enter into the 30-month follow up study. All participants completed the follow up period. No relapse was observed during the 6 months of continuation therapy. During the further 24 months of maintenance therapy, 80% of the patients remained well, whereas 20% (five out of 25) had a single recurrence. Based on these observations, fluvoxamine might be a promising drug for long-term therapy of delusional depression. Further controlled studies are required to confirm this finding.  相似文献

Elicitins are 10-kDa proteins secreted by Phytophthora and Pythium fungi that elicit a hypersensitive-like necrotic reaction, leading to resistance against fungal and bacterial plant pathogens. Induction of necrosis and resistance were previously shown to be borne by different sites of the molecule. Furthermore, sequence comparison indicated several potential residues necessary for necrosis. The role of one of these residues was previously evidenced with site-directed mutagenesis. In order to locate other necrosis-determining sites and reveal the defense-eliciting sites, we synthesized a series of synthetic peptides. Tests were performed on two types of transgenic tobacco plants, both transformed with a construction containing the beta-glucuronidase reporter gene, in one case controlled by the promoter of the multiple stimulus response gene str 246C and in the other by the promoter of the pathogenesis-related gene PR1a. We report that only certain peptides were found to be active. Whereas PR1a induction was consistently correlated with induction of necrosis, four peptides were observed to induce only str 246C expression without necrosis, which led to differentiate the defense-eliciting sites from the necrotic sites. From the structure-function relationship thus obtained, two different defense pathways were inferred to be independently induced by elicitins.  相似文献

The integrated backscatter calculation over the full, two-dimensional echocardiographic sector is implemented to produce images from closed-chest dogs. This new real-time integrated backscatter measurement system allows a continuous determination of integrated backscatter from all myocardial regions in the ultrasonic view. By replacing the conventional video processor in a commercial two-dimensional echocardiographic imager with this new real-time backscatter measurement system, it is possible to produce real-time two-dimensional images based on integrated backscatter.  相似文献

In this paper we analyze a ternary reactive distillation system, where an equilibrium chemical reaction occurs in the liquid phase. By using a set of transformed variables proposed by Barbosa el al. (1988b) and well known graphical procedures for non-reactive systems; the minimum reflux ratio, minimum number of equilibrium stages, mass and energy balances for a reactive column and flash can be easily obtained. The procedures developed in this paper are applied to ISOBUTYLENE-METHANOL-MTBE system.

The main objective in developing this model is to obtain, as much as possible, rigorous information for the analysis of one reactive distillation column in a Process Simulator with capability of handling this type of new operation.  相似文献

A wet air oxidation reaction was carried out in a gas/liquid catalytic membrane reactor of the contactor type. The oxidation of formic acid was used as a model reaction. The mesoporous top-layer of a ceramic tubular membrane was used as catalyst (Pt) support, and was placed at the interface of the gas (air) and liquid (HCOOH solution) phases.

A similar reaction was carried out in a conventional batch reactor, using a steering rate high enough to avoid gas-diffusion limitations, and exactly identical conditions than for the CMR (amount of catalyst, pressure, etc.). At room temperature, the CMR showed an initial activity three to six times higher than the conventional reactor. This activity increase was attributed to an easier oxygen access to the catalytic sites. Nevertheless, the catalytic membrane gradually deactivated after a few hours of operation. Different deactivation mechanisms are presented.  相似文献

Platinum nanoparticles (n-Pt), over-grafted with 2-thiophenecarbonyl chloride are assembled on gold electrodes, by the Langmuir Blodgett (LB) technique using behenic acid (BHA) as promoting agent. These layers are electrochemically active without any preliminary activation. The [Fe(CN)6]3−/4− redox couple was used as electrochemical probe. This paper reports on the influence of the number of deposited LB layers, and the n-Pt density on the electrochemical response. n-Pt density was modified by the change of the “BHA/n-Pt” ratio. Cyclic voltammograms of “[Fe(CN)6]3−/4−” were observed whatever the coating conditions. As soon as the first layer was deposited the electrochemical response was associated to the n-Pt coverage, its response slightly increased up to a steady state for five or seven layers. As expected, the increase of the Pt density favored the increase of the current density. XPS analysis performed before and after electrochemical cycling showed that 4-mercaptoaniline capped platinum nanoparticles, and their over grafting were chemically and electrochemically stable. Analysis of influence of the number or the n-Pt density of the layers showed that the electrochemically active part of LB electrodes was provided by the last layer plus a part of the underlying one.  相似文献

The influence of the Marangoni effect on phase inversion behaviour is examined by integrating a microscopic study of the drop coalescence process, in which thin film drainage in the presence of insoluble surfactant occurs, into a macroscopic phase inversion model which has been developed previously using a Monte Carlo technique. This is achieved via an immobility factor, obtained from a comparison of the film drainage times for surfactant-laden systems and surfactant-free systems as a function of the drop approach velocity, surface Péclet number, initial surfactant concentration and the Hamaker constant, which is then used to modify the coalescence probability in the phase inversion model. On the one hand, the results indicate that the Marangoni effect removes any influence that the viscosity ratio has on phase inversion due to immobilisation of the interface, thus shielding the flow in the film from the effects of the flow in the dispersed phase; the point at which phase inversion occurs therefore tends towards equivolume holdups with the addition of surfactant. On the other hand, when comparisons are made with pure systems in which surfactant is absent, the system is seen to be either stabilised or de-stabilised from inversion depending on the viscosity ratio of the system. This is attributed to the influence of surfactant on the dispersion morphologies on either side of the inversion (i.e. water-in-oil dispersions and oil-in-water dispersions) and depends on the dispersed phase holdup; the Marangoni effect is felt stronger when the dispersed phase holdup is low.  相似文献

The sulfidation properties of austenitic Fe-Mn and Fe-Mn-Al alloys containing small amounts of carbon have been characterized with respect to the sulfidation kinetics, scale morphological development, structures, and composition of the sulfide phases. The alloys contained 21–40 wt. % Mn and 2.5–8 wt.% Al. The sulfide phase was monosulfide of manganese and iron containing the other metallic elements in solid solution. Two regimes of sulfidation categorized by slow and fast reaction rates were exhibited by all alloys when sulfidized in sulfur vapor at = 8 Pa and over the temperature range 873–1173 K. In the slow regime, a compact duplex -Mn(Fe)S/Fe(Mn)S scale evolved by a classical parabolic law associated with metal diffusion in scale. A porous microcrystalline mixed scale of the above sulfides evolved in the regime of rapid sulfidation by quasilinear kinetics associated with sulfur ingress through the porous scale.  相似文献
