Reactor blends of polyethylene/poly(ethylene-co-1-octene) resins with bimodal molecular weight and bimodal short chain branching distributions were synthesized in a two-step polymerization process. The compositions of these blends range from low molecular weight (LMW) homopolymer to high molecular weight (HMW) copolymer and, vice versa, HMW homopolymer to LMW copolymer. The physical properties of the blends were found to be consistent with the nature of the individual components. For the tensile properties, the stiffness decreases with increasing the fraction of the copolymer, regardless of the molecular weight of the homopolymer fraction. For these blends with bimodal microstructures, it was confirmed that the degree of crystallinity governs the stiffness of the polymer. However, the energy dampening properties of the polymers benefit from the presence of the copolymer. A balance of stiffness and toughness can be obtained by altering the composition of the blends. For some blends, the presence of HMW homopolymer can dominate the tensile properties, showing little variation in the stiffness with increased addition of copolymer. It was also demonstrated that the testing conditions and thermal treatment of the polymer greatly influence the resulting elastic and energy dampening properties. Depending on the desired application, annealing these polymers (especially very low density copolymers) not only increases the crystallinity and stiffness, but also changes the frequency response of the dynamic mechanical properties.  相似文献

Recently, physical layer security commonly known as Radio Frequency (RF) fingerprinting has been proposed to provide an additional layer of security for wireless devices. A unique RF fingerprint can be used to establish the identity of a specific wireless device in order to prevent masquerading/impersonation attacks. In the literature, the performance of RF fingerprinting techniques is typically assessed using high-end (expensive) receiver hardware. However, in most practical situations receivers will not be high-end and will suffer from device specific impairments which affect the RF fingerprinting process. This paper evaluates the accuracy of RF fingerprinting employing low-end receivers. The vulnerability to an impersonation attack is assessed for a modulation-based RF fingerprinting system employing low-end commodity hardware (by legitimate and malicious users alike). Our results suggest that receiver impairment effectively decreases the success rate of impersonation attack on RF fingerprinting. In addition, the success rate of impersonation attack is receiver dependent.  相似文献

Batch leaching tests have been performed on fly ashes collected from four Australian power stations fuelled by chemically different coals. Two acidic and two alkaline fly ashes were subjected to long-term (144 h) leaching tests, and the behaviour of As, B, Mo and Se was investigated to obtain data on their potential for mobilisation during fly ash-water interactions. All four elements are mobile under different conditions and over different leaching times. The concentrations of these elements released in leaching solutions with initial pH values of 4, 7 and 10 were used to assess the influence of pH conditions on element mobility from the acidic and alkaline fly ashes. The most mobile of the four elements leached were Mo from alkaline fly ashes and B from acidic fly ashes. Arsenic concentration increased with time in leachate solutions from acidic and alkaline fly ashes; however, in solutions in contact with alkaline fly ashes the As concentration, after reaching a maximum, later decreased with time. Selenium mobility shows a similar pattern to that of As, with similar leaching concentrations. Boron has the highest relative mobility of all four elements. A process possibly responsible for the decrease in concentration of B, As and Se in alkaline leaching solutions is the formation of ettringite. Equilibrium between the solid phase (ash) and the leaching solution was not reached in any of the leaching experiments. The pH of the leaching solution is the key factor affecting the mobility of these trace elements in these fly ashes.  相似文献

A novel perforated bipole trickle-bed electrochemical reactor is investigated for the electro-synthesis of alkaline peroxide. The process uses a relatively simple cell configuration in which a single electrolyte flows with oxygen gas in a flow-by graphite felt cathode, sandwiched between a micro-porous diaphragm and a perforated bipolar electrode plate. The graphite felt cathodes are 120 mm high by 25 mm wide and have a thickness of 3.2 mm. The reactor is operated at current densities in the range 1–5 kA m−2, ca. 800 kPa (abs) pressure and temperature (In/Out) 20–45 °C with one and two-cells. The reactor shows good performance (current efficiency ∼78% at 2 kA m−2 and a specific energy of 5 kWh per kg of peroxide generated) with peroxide concentrations from 0.02 to 0.15 M in 1 M NaOH.  相似文献

Self-repairing systems are those that are able to reconfigure themselves following disruptions to bring them back into a defined normal state. In this paper we explore the self-repair ability of some cellular automata-like systems, which differ from classical cellular automata by the introduction of a local diffusion process inspired by chemical signalling processes in biological development. The update rules in these systems are evolved using genetic programming to self-assemble towards a target pattern. In particular, we demonstrate that once the update rules have been evolved for self-assembly, many of those update rules also provide a self-repair ability without any additional evolutionary process aimed specifically at self-repair.  相似文献

A hospital emergency department (ED) is a complex cognitive work system. ED providers routinely create, process and share various kinds of information in their work. They may constantly transform information using technological artifacts such as an electronic patient information system. The functionality in the technology, however, limits their tasks and activities. So, they create their own artifacts (such as handwritten notes on a post-it note), to share and process information. The goal of the paper is to illustrate how health providers in EDs create, process, transform and share information to achieve work goals. Temperature programmed reduction (TPR) and oxidation (TPO) are used extensively in catalyst characterisation. In this paper, we examine the use of TPR/TPO cycles for the characterisation of a range of molybdates and single oxides. In particular we observe that the first cycle differs from that of subsequent analyses, even when the maximum temperature is limited to that used in the catalytic reaction. The effect is independent of heating rates and cooling atmospheres and has been demonstrated using different bed configurations. This observation has significance when these oxides are used in periodic flow reactors that involve many cyclical reduction/oxidation.  相似文献

The structure of cleaved thyroxine-binding globulin (TBG) hasbeen modelled on the crystal structure of cleaved 1-antitrypsin(a member of the serine proteinase inhibitor, serpin, superfamily)based on the high sequence homology exhibited by the two proteins.Particular attention was paid to the identification and modelledcharacteristics of the thyroxine binding site. The primary aimof the study was to compare the site qualitatively with thecrystallographically determined binding site of transthyretin,the other major transporter of thyroxine, in an attempt to explainthe higher binding affinity of the site compared with the knownthyrox ine binding site in transthyretin (1010 versus 108 M–1).The proposed binding site shares some similar characteristicswith the transthyretin binding site but also includes a clusterof aromatic residues which are entirely absent in transthyretin.It is proposed that this might account for the substantial differencein binding affinities.  相似文献
