Here, the laminar fluid flow in small‐scale ring chamber centrifuges is investigated to describe the separation behavior of oil aerosols by means of models and laws of similitude. The key objective is the determination of the separation efficiency dependent on the centrifugal geometry, the material properties of the continuous and disperse phases as well as operational parameters such as angular velocity and volume flow. Experimental investigations were conducted to assess the range of validity, the usability and the accuracy of the models.  相似文献

Biocompatibility of six different compression stockings and cytotoxic effects were determined using HaCaT keratinocytes, L929 mouse fibroblasts, primary adult and juvenile keratinocytes Cells were quantified using a luminometric ATP assay and the photometric BCA test. Cytotoxic effects were determined by LDH release. An area-based extraction ratio of 1.25 cm2:mL could be shown to be superior to the weight-based extraction of test material. Extraction medium should be an acidic sweat solution as this helps to recreate in vivo conditions. Monolayer cultures of HaCaT keratinocytes or L929 mouse fibroblasts should be used for testing. Primary adult keratinocytes or primary juvenile keratinocytes can also be used. For the latter, testing under DMEM with FCS is recommended to achieve comparable results. It was found that the compression stockings tested exhibited no negative influence on cell viability in vitro and no direct cytotoxic effects measured as release of LDH. Hence, good biocompatibility could be asserted.  相似文献

The expansion of renewable energy is a central element of the German Federal Government's climate and energy policy. The target for 2020 is to produce 30% of the electricity from renewable energies. Wind power has been selected to be a major contributor to this change. Replacing old wind turbines by modern ones and building new turbines on land will be crucial in meeting this target. However, the expansion of onshore wind power is not universally accepted. In several regions of Germany residents are protesting against setting up new wind turbines. To determine the negative effects two choice experiments were applied in Westsachsen and Nordhessen, Germany. In both regions the externalities of wind power generation until 2020 based on today's state of technology were measured. The results show that negative landscape externalities would result from expanding wind power generation. Using latent class models three different groups of respondents experiencing different degrees of externalities were identified.  相似文献

This article evaluates the status of current RES deployment, policies and barriers in the EU-27 member states and compares it to the required to meet the 2020 targets. The evaluation relies strongly on the quantitative deployment status and policy effectiveness indicators. European RES deployment and policy has progressed strongly in recent years, but the growth here has been mainly driven by effective policies in a small or medium number of top runner countries. Across Europe, the highest average policy effectiveness over six years was reached for onshore wind (4.2%), biofuels (3.6%) and biomass electricity (2.7%), while in the heat sector, all technologies score below 2%. Comparing the recent progress to the required growth for meeting the 2020 target, it appears that some countries largely exceed the interim targets of the RES Directive 2009/28/EC. Despite this, Europe will need additional policy effort to reach the 2020 target. Critical success factors include implementing effective and efficient policies that attract sufficient investments, reducing administrative and grid related barriers, especially in currently less advanced countries, upgrading the power grid infrastructure, dismantling financial barriers in the heat sector, realising sustainability standards for biomass, and lowering energy demand through increased energy efficiency efforts.  相似文献

The development of a thermal desorption chemical ionization ion trap mass spectrometer for the chemical characterization of ultrafine aerosol particles is reported and first experimental results are presented. Atmospheric particles are size-classified and collected using a unipolar charger, a radial differential mobility analyzer and an electrostatic precipitator, and analyzed after thermal desorption and chemical ionization using an ion trap mass spectrometer. Integration of an ion trap mass spectrometer allows for fast scans of the entire mass spectrum every 0.5 s and bears the potential to identify unknown particulate compounds by tandem mass spectrometry. Particle collection efficiencies range from 90–100% for 25 nm particles to about 50% for 40 nm particles. In the current configuration, the absolute sensitivity of the instrument with regard to ammonium is in the range of 10–100 pg NH + 4 . In ambient samples collected in the Colorado Front Range, NH + 4 was the major signal peak in the positive ion spectrum, and additional minor signals and peak patterns of organic compounds including methylamine were found.  相似文献

In this paper we present a parallel algorithm for CTL* model checking on a virtual shared-memory high-performance parallel machine architecture. The algorithm is automata-driven and follows a games approach where one player wins if the automaton is empty while the other player wins if the automaton is nonempty. We show how this game can be played in parallel using a dynamic load balancing technique to divide the work across the processors. The practicality and effective speedup of the algorithm is illustrated by performance graphs.  相似文献

In this study, spectral indices were calculated from single date HyMap (3 m; 126 bands), Hyperion (30 m; 242 bands), ASTER (15/30 m; 9 bands), and a time series of MODIS nadir BRDF-adjusted reflectance (NBAR; 1 km, 7 bands) for a study area surrounding the Tumbarumba flux tower site in eastern Australia. The study involved: a) the calculation of a range of physiologically-based vegetation indices from ASTER, HyMap, Hyperion and MOD43B NBAR imagery over the flux tower site; b) comparison across scales between HyMap, Hyperion and MODIS for the normalized difference water index (NDWI) and the Red-Green ratio; c) analysis of relationships between tower-based flux and light use efficiency (LUE) measurements and seasonal and climatic constraints on growth; and d) examination of relationships between fluxes, LUE and time series of NDVI, NDWI and Red-Green ratio. Strong seasonal patterns of variation were observed in NDWI and Red/Green ratio from MODIS NBAR. Correlations between fine (3 and 30 m) and coarse (1 km) scale indices for a small region around the flux tower site were moderately good for Red/Green ratio, but poor for NDWI. Hymap NDWI values for the understorey canopy were much lower than values for the tree canopy. MODIS NDWI was negatively correlated with CO2 fluxes during warm and cool seasons. The correlation indicated that surface reflectance, affected by a spectrally bright grassland understorey canopy, was decoupled from growth of trees with access to deep soil moisture. The application of physiologically-based indices at earth observation scale requires careful attention to applicability of band configurations, contribution of vegetation components to reflectance signals, mechanistic relationships between biochemical processes and spectral indexes, and incorporation of ancillary information into any analysis.  相似文献

This paper examines the inherent difficulties in observing 3D rigid motion from image sequences. It does so without considering a particular estimator. Instead, it presents a statistical analysis of all the possible computational models which can be used for estimating 3D motion from an image sequence. These computational models are classified according to the mathematical constraints that they employ and the characteristics of the imaging sensor (restricted field of view and full field of view). Regarding the mathematical constraints, there exist two principles relating a sequence of images taken by a moving camera. One is the epipolar constraint, applied to motion fields, and the other the positive depth constraint, applied to normal flow fields. 3D motion estimation amounts to optimizing these constraints over the image. A statistical modeling of these constraints leads to functions which are studied with regard to their topographic structure, specifically as regards the errors in the 3D motion parameters at the places representing the minima of the functions. For conventional video cameras possessing a restricted field of view, the analysis shows that for algorithms in both classes which estimate all motion parameters simultaneously, the obtained solution has an error such that the projections of the translational and rotational errors on the image plane are perpendicular to each other. Furthermore, the estimated projection of the translation on the image lies on a line through the origin and the projection of the real translation. The situation is different for a camera with a full (360 degree) field of view (achieved by a panoramic sensor or by a system of conventional cameras). In this case, at the locations of the minima of the above two functions, either the translational or the rotational error becomes zero, while in the case of a restricted field of view both errors are non-zero. Although some ambiguities still remain in the full field of view case, the implication is that visual navigation tasks, such as visual servoing, involving 3D motion estimation are easier to solve by employing panoramic vision. Also, the analysis makes it possible to compare properties of algorithms that first estimate the translation and on the basis of the translational result estimate the rotation, algorithms that do the opposite, and algorithms that estimate all motion parameters simultaneously, thus providing a sound framework for the observability of 3D motion. Finally, the introduced framework points to new avenues for studying the stability of image-based servoing schemes.  相似文献

The classic approach to structure from motion entails a clear separation between motion estimation and structure estimation and between two-dimensional (2D) and three-dimensional (3D) information. For the recovery of the rigid transformation between different views only 2D image measurements are used. To have available enough information, most existing techniques are based on the intermediate computation of optical flow which, however, poses a problem at the locations of depth discontinuities. If we knew where depth discontinuities were, we could (using a multitude of approaches based on smoothness constraints) accurately estimate flow values for image patches corresponding to smooth scene patches; but to know the discontinuities requires solving the structure from motion problem first. This paper introduces a novel approach to structure from motion which addresses the processes of smoothing, 3D motion and structure estimation in a synergistic manner. It provides an algorithm for estimating the transformation between two views obtained by either a calibrated or uncalibrated camera. The results of the estimation are then utilized to perform a reconstruction of the scene from a short sequence of images.The technique is based on constraints on image derivatives which involve the 3D motion and shape of the scene, leading to a geometric and statistical estimation problem. The interaction between 3D motion and shape allows us to estimate the 3D motion while at the same time segmenting the scene. If we use a wrong 3D motion estimate to compute depth, we obtain a distorted version of the depth function. The distortion, however, is such that the worse the motion estimate, the more likely we are to obtain depth estimates that vary locally more than the correct ones. Since local variability of depth is due either to the existence of a discontinuity or to a wrong 3D motion estimate, being able to differentiate between these two cases provides the correct motion, which yields the least varying estimated depth as well as the image locations of scene discontinuities. We analyze the new constraints, show their relationship to the minimization of the epipolar constraint, and present experimental results using real image sequences that indicate the robustness of the method.  相似文献
