Far-infrared laser oscillation due to cyclotron emission in the light hole band of p-type germanium was observed under crossed electric and magnetic fields. The wavelength is inversely proportional to magnetic fields with a cyclotron mass ofm c =0.048m c . Numerical calculations based on Luttinger Hamiltonian show that mixing of wavefunctions between the light and heavy hole bands causes population inversion betweenn=0 andn=1 light-hole Landau levels. It is also shown that non-equidistant energy spacing of light-hole Landau levels is essential to yield net amplification.  相似文献

Neodymium-modified Bi4Ti3O12, (Bi, Nd)4Ti3O12 (BNT) ferroelectric thin films have been prepared on Pt/TiOx/SiO2/Si substrates using metal-organic precursor solutions by the chemical solution deposition method. The BNT precursor films crystallized into the Bi layered perovskite Bi4Ti3O12 (BIT) as a single-phase above 600C. The synthesized BNT films revealed a random orientation having a strong 117 reflection, whereas non-substituted BIT thin films exhibited a random orientation with strong 00l diffractions. Among Bi4 – xNdxTi3O12 [x = 0.0, 0.5, 0.75, 1.0] thin films, Bi3.25Nd0.75Ti3O12 thin films showed a well-saturated P-E hysteresis loop with the highest Pr (22 C/cm2) and a low Ec (69 kV/cm) at an applied voltage of 5 V. The Nd-substitution with the optimum amount for the Bi site in the BIT structure was effective not only for promoting the 117 preferred orientation but also for improving the microstructure and ferroelectric properties of the resultant films.  相似文献

This study investigated the influence of PUFA on the properties of mouse skin. Mice (3 wk old) were given free access to oils high in linoleic acid, CLA, or DHA for 4 wk. At the end of the experiment, their skins were compared by both biochemical and histological methods. No significant differences in lipid and collagen contents were detected among treatments, although the FA composition in the skin was altered depending upon the FA composition of the supplemented oils. Electron microscopy revealed that the subcutaneous tissue layers in the CLA and DHA groups were significantly thinner than that in the high linoleic acid group, whereas no differences in the thickness of dermis layers were observed among the three groups. These results suggest that skin properties in mice are readily modified by dietary FA sources within 4 wk of dietary oil supplementation.  相似文献

Trichothecene mycotoxins such as deoxynivalenol, 4,15-diacetoxyscirpenol, and T-2 toxin, are potent protein synthesis inhibitors for eukaryotic organisms. The 3-O-acetyl derivatives of these toxins were shown to reduce their in vitro activity significantly as assessed by assays using a rabbit reticulocyte translation system. The results suggested that the introduction of an O-acetyl group at the C-3 position in the biosynthetic pathway works as a resistance mechanism for Fusarium species that produce t-type trichothecenes (trichothecenes synthesized via the precursor trichotriol). A gene responsible for the 3-O-acetylation reaction, Tri101, has been successfully cloned from a Fusarium graminearum cDNA library that was designed to be expressed in Schizosaccharomyces pombe. Fission yeast transformants were selected for their ability to grow in the presence of T-2 toxin, and this strategy allowed isolation of 25 resistant clones, all of which contained a cDNA for Tri101. This is the first drug-inactivating O-acetyltransferase gene derived from antibiotic-producing organisms. The open reading frame of Tri101 codes for a polypeptide of 451 amino acid residues, which shows no similarity to any other proteins reported so far. TRI101 from recombinant Escherichia coli catalyzes O-acetylation of the trichothecene ring specifically at the C-3 position in an acetyl-CoA-dependent manner. By using the Tri101 cDNA as a probe, two least overlapping cosmid clones that cover a region of 70 kilobase pairs have been isolated from the genome of F. graminearum. Other trichothecene biosynthetic genes, Tri4, Tri5, and Tri6, were not clustered in the region covered by these cosmid clones. These new cosmid clones are considered to be located in other parts of the large biosynthetic gene cluster and might be useful for the study of trichothecene biosynthesis.  相似文献

An autopsy case of Sj?gren-Larsson syndrome (SLS), an 8-year-old boy, is presented with neuropathological investigations. Widespread deposition of 2 different types of unusual substances, stained lightly or strongly with periodic acid Schiff (PAS) was most conspicuous in this case. The first type of them, lightly stained with PAS at room temperature, was widely distributed in the central nervous system (CNS): the white matter of cerebrum and brainstem, subpial and subependymal glial layers, subpial space, perivascular space of small blood vessels, and their adjacent nervous tissue. The second type, strongly stained with PAS, small round or ellipsoid bodies, was found in the subpial, subependymal and perivascular glial layers. The first type of PAS-positive substances might be fatty alcohols or their metabolites, and the second type, some degraded products of lipids in astrocytic processes. Lipofuscin-like substances were accumulated in perivascular macrophages located around small blood vessels. Spheroid bodies (axonal swellings) were frequently observed in relay nuclei: lateral geniculate body (LGB), pontine nuclei, inferior olivary nuclei, posterior funicular nuclei, or cerebellar dentate nuclei. A lot of PAS-positive fine granules were contained in a spheroid body of LGB. Scarcity of myelinated nerve fibers was recognized in the cerebral and cerebellar white matter and the corticospinal tracts of spinal cord. Focal cortical dysgenesis, resembling that of unlayered polymicrogyria, was observed in bilateral insular cortices. Further histochemical studies are needed to explore the exact pathogenesis, but widespread deposition of PAS-positive substances in CNS may support the supposition that SLS is one of congenital errors of lipid metabolism.  相似文献

In order to shed light on the rate-limiting step in DNA hydrolysis, non-enzymatic hydrolyses of aryl esters of thymidine 3'-monophosphate have been kinetically examined. In alkaline solutions, these dinucleotide analogues were hydrolyzed far faster than was thymidylyl(3'-5')thymidine (TpT), indicating that the departure of the leaving group from the phosphorus atom is rate-limiting. The CeIV- and CeIV/PrIII combination-mediated hydrolyses of these analogues were also faster than the corresponding hydrolysis of the dinucleotide.  相似文献

We describe two cases of acute embolic occlusion of the internal carotid artery and the middle cerebral artery in association with a patent accessory middle cerebral artery. Because of the presence of the accessory middle cerebral artery, the frontal lobe was salvaged to some extent, but it did not provide sufficient collateral blood supply to the middle cerebral artery territory to spare the rest of the frontal lobe, the temporal lobe, and the basal ganglia.  相似文献

We analyzed regional DNA copy numbers in 4 oral squamous cell carcinomas (SCCs) by using comparative genomic hybridization, and compared them with those in cell lines derived from the SCCs. In the original tumors, DNA copy number increases were observed on chromosomes 5p (4/4 cases), 8q (4/4), 20p (3/4), 3q (2/4), 5q (2/4), 7p (2/4), 7q (2/4), 11p (2/4), 11q (2/4) and 13q (2/ 4). Although most of these changes have been described previously for SCC tumors in the head and neck, the incidence of increases in 8q and 20p was much higher in the present study; this may be important in relation to cell line establishment, since 8q contains e-myc, which is involved in immortalization. No common chromosomal region with DNA copy number decreases was observed, except for 18q (2/4). When the original tumors and the cell lines were compared, their profiles were essentially similar with one exception. Further, there was no region that commonly changed in the cell lines, but not in the original tumors, suggesting that the DNA copy number changes observed in the cell lines mostly represent those of the original tumors.  相似文献
