This paper presents an electronic system for a fast DNA label-less detection. The sensitivity of the capacitive sensor in use is improved by depositing an insulating self-assembled monolayer (SAM) over the golden electrodes. The capacitance shift due to the hybridization effect is monitored by means of a charge-sensitive amplifier and digitalized by means of a comparator and a counter. The read-out solution demonstrates the ability to identify a 0.01% variation on the capacitive value of the sensor. Results from measurements with the optimized sensor show the reliability of the electronics. The investigated solution is suitable for monolithic systems or for a micro-fabricated array of sensors. An example of the integrated front-end is described and performances and noise evaluation are reported here.  相似文献

This work describes the first fully direct coupling of solid-phase microextraction (SPME) with mass spectrometry. An inlet system using a septum as the only interface between the ambient and the high-vacuum mass spectrometer was constructed to allow the introduction of the SPME needle directly into the ionization region of a mass spectrometer. The PDMS-coated fiber was then placed and exposed exactly between the two ionization filaments. Uniform heating of the fiber, efficient thermal desorption, and electron ionization of the analytes were achieved. Using this new analytical technique, here termed fiber introduction mass spectrometry (FIMS), we have been able to detect and quantitate several volatile (VOC) and semivolatile (SVOC) organic chemicals (carbon tetrachloride, benzene, toluene, xylenes, gamma-terpinene, diisoamyl ether, chlorobenzene, and many PAHs) and two herbicides (Sylvex and its methyl ether) from aqueous solutions at low-ppb to ppt levels using either SPME headspace or solution extraction. FIMS shows high sensitivity (ng/L), good reproducibility, and accuracy, providing therefore a simple and effective approach to rapid analysis of VOC and SVOC in various matrixes.  相似文献

A significant source for enhancing application performance and for reducing power consumption in embedded processor applications is to improve the usage of the memory hierarchy. In this paper, a temporal and spatial locality optimization framework of nested loops is proposed, driven by parameterized cost functions. The considered loops can be imperfectly nested. New data layouts are propagated through the connected references and through the loop nests as constraints for optimizing the next connected reference in the same nest or in the other ones. Unlike many existing methods, special attention is paid to TLB (Translation Lookaside Buffer) effectiveness since TLB misses can take from tens to hundreds of processor cycles. Our approach only considers active data, that is, array elements that are actually accessed by a loop, in order to prevent useless memory loads and take advantage of storage compression and temporal locality. Moreover, the same data transformation is not necessarily applied to a whole array. Depending on the referenced data subsets, the transformation can result in different data layouts for a same array. This can significantly improve the performance since a priori incompatible references can be simultaneously optimized. Finally, the process does not only consider the innermost loop level but all levels. Hence, large strides when control returns to the enclosing loop are avoided in several cases, and better optimization is provided in the case of a small index range of the innermost loop.  相似文献

Periodic flashes of light have long served to probe the temporal properties of the visual system. Here we show that during rapid flicker of high contrast and intensity the eye reports to the brain only every other flash of light. In this regime, retinal ganglion cells of the salamander fire spikes on alternating flashes. Neurons across the entire retina are locked to the same flashes. The effect depends sharply on contrast and flash frequency. It results from a period-doubling bifurcation in retinal processing, and a simple model of nonlinear feedback reproduces the phenomenon. Pharmacological studies indicate that the critical feedback interactions require only cone photoreceptors and bipolar cells. Analogous period-doubling is observed in the human visual system. Under bright full-field flicker, the electroretinogram (ERG) shows a regime of period-doubling between 30 and 70 Hz. In visual evoked potentials from the occiput, the subharmonic component is even stronger. By analyzing the accompanying perceptual effects, we find that retinal period-doubling begins in the periphery of the visual field, and that it is the cause of a long mysterious illusory flicker pattern.  相似文献

The present study is a preliminary exploration of the affinity between a carboxylic model drug, the nonsteroidal antiinflammatory agent ibuprofen (IBU) and Eudragit RL100 (RL) polymer. Due to the presence of a variable amount of quaternary ammonium groups in this matrix, physical and chemical interaction with the carboxylic drug can occur, which reinforces its scant mechanical dispersion in the polymer network and can ultimately affect its release profile in vitro and in vivo. To study these aspects, IBU was mixed at increasing weight ratios and in different chemical forms (free acid, sodium salt, and n-butyl ester), to investigate further the role of the carboxylic group in the interaction with the RL polymer. Therefore, IBU-RL solid dispersions (coevaporates) were obtained and fully characterized in the solid state through spectroscopic, calorimetric, and x-ray diffractometric analyses. The in vitro release pattern of the drug, in the different chemical states, was studied for the coevaporates, compared with drug-RL physical mixtures, along with drug adsorption profiles from aqueous solutions on the surface of the polymer granules.  相似文献

The Sea-Viewing Wide-Field-of-View Sensor (SeaWiFS) has made monthly observations of the Moon since 1997. Using 66 monthly measurements, the SeaWiFS calibration team has developed a correction for the instrument's on-orbit response changes. Concurrently, a lunar irradiance model has been developed by the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) from extensive Earth-based observations of the Moon. The lunar irradiances measured by SeaWiFS are compared with the USGS model. The comparison shows essentially identical response histories for SeaWiFS, with differences from the model of less than 0.05% per thousand days in the long-term trends. From the SeaWiFS experience we have learned that it is important to view the entire lunar image at a constant phase angle from measurement to measurement and to understand, as best as possible, the size of each lunar image. However, a constant phase angle is not required for using the USGS model. With a long-term satellite lunar data set it is possible to determine instrument changes at a quality level approximating that from the USGS lunar model. However, early in a mission, when the dependence on factors such as phase and libration cannot be adequately determined from satellite measurements alone, the USGS model is critical to an understanding of trends in instruments that use the Moon for calibration.
