Low temperature steam reforming of ethanol in the temperature range of 200–360°C was studied to maximize the production of H2. The optimum reaction conditions in presence of a suitable catalyst can produce mainly the desired products H2 and CO2. Cu/Al2O3 catalysts with six different concentrations ranging from 0 to 10 wt.% Mn, were prepared, characterized and studied for the ethanol-steam reforming reaction. Maximum ethanol conversion of 60.7% and hydrogen yield of 3.74 (mol H2 / mol ethanol converted) were observed at 360°C for catalyst with 2.5 wt.% Mn loading. 相似文献

Morphological parameters and renal flow were assessed and measured in six clinically healthy dogs with negative serological and parasitological examinations for canine visceral leishmaniasis (CVL) and six dogs with CVL‐positive serological and parasitological tests and asymptomatic condition of the disease. Kidney length and diameter were measured and compared with the aorta/kidney ratio. Alterations in flow were measured using the flow velocity (cm/s) and resistance index (RI). Renal function was assessed by serum biochemical examination (urea, creatine, total proteins, albumin, and globulin) and urinalysis. CVL‐positive animals presented heterogeneous kidney echotexture, reduced vascular flow, hypoperfusion, lesser visualization of the arcuate arteries, high RI values (1.06 ± 0.28 for the right kidney and 1.10 ± 0.30 for the left kidney), reduced diastolic flow, and high systolic peak. They also presented positive creatine/RI correlation and between the renal artery vascular flow and kidney diameter. Histopathological analysis of CVL‐positive animals was compatible and confirmed hemodynamic changes observed by Doppler ultrasound. The findings in the present study showed that Doppler ultrasonography is a valid method to assess and detect alterations in flow in renal pathological processes with kidney vascular damage, as in the case of leishmaniasis, and can help in the diagnosis of animals with this infection. Precise measurements on the electrical conductivity of solutions of sodium polystyrenesulphonate in methanol–water mixed solvent media containing 8, 16, 25, and 34 wt.% of methanol at 308.15, 313.15, 318.15, and 323.15 K are reported. The degree of substitution of sodium polystyrenesulphonate used was 1, and the concentrations were varied from ∼2.0 × 10−4 to ∼4.0 × 10−3 monomol l−1. The results showed a slight and monotonous increase in the equivalent conductivity with decreasing polyelectrolyte concentration. The applicability of the Manning’s theory for salt-free polyelectrolyte solution was examined and a major discrepancy against the theory was observed. The calculated values of the equivalent conductivity deduced on the basis of this theory were found to be lower than the experimental ones. Possible reasons for this discrepancy have been discussed. The effects of the temperature and relative permittivity of the medium on the equivalent conductivity were also investigated. Estimation of the fractions of uncondensed counterions provides important insight regarding the solution behavior of the polyelectrolyte in methanol–water mixtures. 相似文献

Incorporation of silica into styrene butadiene rubber (SBR)–reclaim rubber (RR) blend system was carried out by sol–gel technique and conventional method. A well known silica coupling agent bis(3‐triethoxysilyl propyl) tetrasulfide was found to affect the curing characteristics and mechanical properties of SBR/RR vulcanizate. Here, the effect of RR on silica reinforcement was studied for different SBR/RR blend system. Silica incorporation by conventional mechanical mixing in absence of TESPT showed a much higher tensile properties than that of silica incorporated by the in situ sol–gel reaction of tetraethoxy silane both in presence and absence of TESPT. Studies of equilibrium swelling in a hydrocarbon solvent were also carried out. ATR study indicates that RR forms bond with silica particles due to the presence of active functional site on RR. The amount of silica incorporated by sol–gel reaction was determined through thermogravimetric analysis (TGA). The preparation of dibasic acid-containing soy phospholipid was made by transesterification reaction with alkyl ester of diabasic acid with both lipase and alkoxide as a catalyst. The extent of incorporation of a dibasic acid varied with the molecular size of the dibasic acid. The extent of incorporation in soy phospholipids was 4–13% in the case of adipic acid and 9–20% in the case of sebacic acid. The surface-active properties of these modified soy phospholipids were examined and were found to be different from those of the original (unmodified) soy phospholipid. The interfacial properties such as critical micelle concentration (CMC), γCMC, surface excess concentration Γmax, and minimum area per molecule (Å), and thermodynamic parameters such as standard free energy of micellization, were found to depend on the hydrophobic part of the dibasic acids. 相似文献

High purity multi-walled carbon nanotubes were synthesized from aromatic hydrocarbons (benzene, toluene, xylene and trimethyl benzene) using ferrocene as the source of Fe catalyst. Screening studies of aromatic feeds at 675 °C, residence time of 14 s and Fe/C atom ratio of 1.07%, resulted in feedstock carbon conversion of 20-31%, CNT yield of 19.8-30.5%, and catalyst yield of 5.3-8.3 (g CNT/g catalyst). While the quality of the CNTs as determined by TGA, SEM, TEM and Raman spectroscopy, were high and comparable for different feedstocks; their carbon conversion, CNT yield and catalyst yield differed noticeably. A process optimization study for toluene feed showed that carbon conversion of more than 39%, CNT yield of 38.7% and catalyst yield of 18.3 can be achieved at temperature of 800 °C, Fe/C atom ratio of 0.47%, and residence time of 10-20 s. 相似文献

The present study investigates the compatibilizing effect of polyphosphazene on the blends of poly(ether imide) (PEI) and thermotropic liquid crystalline polymer (Vectra‐B). FTIR study showed that there was a partial interaction or chemical reaction between the PEI and LCP in the presence of compatibilizer. Polyphosphazene is compatibilized with both PEI and LCP, which was evident from DMA results. From the X‐ray diffraction study, it has been observed that the crystalline structure of PEI–LCP blends was increased with the addition of compatibilizer. The thermal study of the composites has been studied by DTA/thermo gravimetric analyses (TGA). TGA thermograms showed an increase in decomposition temperature of PEI–LCP blends in the presence of compatibilizer. Measurement of the tensile properties showed an increase in the elongation as well as enhanced modulus and strength. From SEM micrographs of tensile fractured surfaces, the addition of compatibilizer to PEI–LCP blends was found to increase the adhesion between the matrix and the dispersed phase. POLYM. In vertical co-current gas-liquid flow, the transition from annular to intermittent flow occurs when gas core becomes interrupted by liquid bridges due to the instability of the interfacial capillary waves. An analytical model is formulated to explain the liquid bridging in terms of the growth of finite amplitude interfacial capillary waves. Experimental results show that the longest wave length, which is associated with the transition, is about eight times the wave length of waves moving with the velocity of the liquid film. 相似文献

A new class of biodegradable crosslinked hydrogel, consisting of hydrophobic polylactic acid (PLA) and hydrophilic dextrin in presence of crosslinker N,N‐methylene bisacrylamide (MBA) has been synthesized by free‐radical polymerization technique using potassium persulfate (KPS) as initiator. By variation of crosslinker concentration, a series of hydrogels have been prepared and the optimized grade has been selected on the basis of higher crosslinking efficiency as well as lower equilibrium swelling characteristics, XRD analysis. The hydrogels have been characterized by FTIR spectra, 13C‐NMR spectra, CHN analysis, SEM analysis, swelling characteristics, and toxicity study. In vitro release study of model drugs (ciprofloxacin and ornidazole) from hydrogel matrix has been performed in various buffer solutions at 37°C.
