We describe the design, optimization and fabrication of side-illuminated p-i-n photodetectors, grown on InP substrate, suitable for surface hybrid integration in low-cost modules. The targeted functionalities of these photodetectors were a very high responsivity at 1.3- and 1.55-μm wavelengths and quasi-independent on the optical polarization, and had a high alignment tolerance. Moreover, in order to avoid any reliability problem, the principle of evanescent coupling was adopted. Two photodetectors were optimized, fabricated, and tested; the first was for classical cleaved fiber, and the second was for lensed fiber. Because the considered epitaxial structures were complicated to optimize, the method of the genetic algorithm was used, associated with a beam propagation method (BPM). The photodetectors are based on multimode diluted waveguides, which are promising structures in the field of optoelectronics and integrated optics. Starting from the presented comparisons between experimental and theoretical results, the interest of the design method is discussed and the complete performances of newly fabricated devices are presented. Abstract— This paper reports a study on the factors influencing dislocation slip during cyclic deformation of 316L austenitic stainless steel. TEM investigations show that low temperature and interstitial nitrogen content favour planar slip and lead to higher erective stress values. Measurements of effective and internal stresses with the Handfield-Dickson technique indicate that the contribution of nitrogen in the effective component is more important than that of temperature. It is deduced that nitrogen acts through a pinning effect, while low temperature exerts an effect on friction stress. The results also suggest that cyclic plasticity could modify the short range order leading to a redistribution of nitrogen.  相似文献

The long-term behavior of high-level nuclear glass subjected to alpha/beta radiation by long-life radionuclides must be investigated with respect to geological disposal. This study focuses on the effects of alpha and beta radiations on the chemical reactivity of R7T7 glass with pure water, mainly on the residual alteration rate regime. Glass specimens doped with 0.85 wt% 239PuO2 (α emitter) and 0.24 wt% 99TcO2 (β emitter) that simulate alpha and beta dose rate corresponding to long-term disposal conditions are leached under static conditions in argon atmosphere at 90°C, in initially pure water and at a high surface-area-to-volume ratio (S/V = 20/cm). The alteration rate is monitored by the release of glass alteration tracer elements (B, Na, and Li). Radiation effects on the leached glass and its gel network are characterized by SEM and TEM analyses. Plutonium and technetium releases are also measured by radiometry, and their chemical oxidation state is assessed by measuring the pH and reduction–oxidation potential of the leachates. The results do not highlight any significant effect of alpha/beta radiation on the residual alteration of these doped glasses. These observations are consistent with solid characterizations, which show that a protective layer can be formed under such irradiation fields. Under our experimental conditions (Eh~380 mV/SHE, pH90°C = 8–8.6), very low concentrations of soluble plutonium are measured in the leachate, indicating strong plutonium retention, whereas technetium performs as a soluble element and is not retained in the altered layer.  相似文献

The specific influence of polyethersulfone (PES) end‐functionalization with chlorine or hydroxyl end groups at same molar mass on PES‐epoxy composites based on a high‐performance tetra‐epoxide with di‐amine hardener resin (RTM6) is investigated in terms of morphology, thermal behavior, and toughness. A model study on PES filaments embedded in epoxy precursor is first performed to compare the interdiffusion and resulting morphology upon curing. PES‐OH shows a larger interdiffusion distance compared to PES‐Cl in the model systems and the laminates. This effect is more pronounced at high heating rate. Cross sections and fracture surfaces of composite panels are analyzed by scanning electron microscopy (SEM) coupled with energy dispersive X‐ray (EDX) spectroscopy to establish the link between the microstructures and fracture mechanisms. The toughness of PES‐OH‐modified epoxy composites is doubled compared to unmodified reference panels, whereas the PES‐Cl shows no improvement. The favorable influence of PES‐OH is ascribed to enhanced miscibility, interfacial adhesion and morphology, resulting from the better affinity between hydroxyl‐terminated PES and the epoxy‐resin. Incorporation of wheat bran has a significant effect on the texture of extruded starchy products. This can be explained by changes in the mechanical parameters of the products. The stress at rupture and elastic modulus of wheat flour-based solid foams, obtained at different extrusion conditions and bran concentration, were measured using a three-point bending test. Both parameters were positively correlated with the foam relative density according to the Gibson–Ashby model. At same relative densities and bran concentration, finer structures with higher density of small cells led to a higher mechanical strength of the foams. The stress at rupture of the unexpanded material was decreased when increasing the bran concentration. Nevertheless, expanded foams with added bran at an intermediate level showed increased mechanical strength. This was attributed to the finer cellular structures obtained. The effect of increasing the bran to a higher concentration on the mechanical properties was depending on the cell wall thickness and bran particle dimensions. At high relative density, the strength of the foams was further increased due to the even finer structures obtained. At low relative density, even though finer structures were also obtained, the stress at rupture of the foams was decreased. This may be explained by the lower cell wall thicknesses and low adhesion properties between bran and starch favoring rupture of the cell walls.  相似文献

DNA-templated self-assembly is an emerging strategy for generating functional supramolecular systems, which requires the identification of potent multi-point binding ligands. In this line, we recently showed that bis-functionalized guanidinium compounds can interact with ssDNA and generate a supramolecular complex through the recognition of the phosphodiester backbone of DNA. In order to probe the importance of secondary interactions and to identify side groups that stabilize these DNA-templated self-assemblies, we report herein the implementation of a dynamic combinatorial approach. We used an in situ fragment assembly process based on reductive amination and tested various side groups, including amino acids. The results reveal that aromatic and cationic side groups participate in secondary supramolecular interactions that stabilize the complexes formed with ssDNA.  相似文献

Mixing by gas injection is an operation used in industrial processes such as wastewater treatment, metallurgy, or methanization in which pressurized gas is injected into a fluid in order to reduce concentrations and temperatures gradients. This study demonstrates how the CFD toolbox OpenFOAM can be used to simulate such flows. Experimental measurements and observations have been performed on a pilot-scale reactor where pressurized air is injected in a yield stress fluid. The volume of fluid method and an adaptive mesh with refinement at the interface have been used to track the gas inclusions. The numerical model accuracy has been assessed by comparing experimental and numerical results related to the bubble's frequency, dimensions, and rising velocities as well as the fluid recirculation, yielded, and unyielded regions in the tank. The influence of injection parameters such as the injection flow rate and the fluid rheological parameters has been quantified.  相似文献

The organization of collagen during fibrotic processes is poorly characterized because of the lack of appropriate methodologies. Here we show that multimodal multiphoton microscopy provides novel insights into lung fibrosis. We characterize normal and fibrotic pulmonary tissue in the bleomycin model, and show that second-harmonic generation by fibrillar collagen reveals the micrometer-scale three-dimensional spatial distribution of the fibrosis. We find that combined two-photon excited fluorescence and second-harmonic imaging of unstained lung tissue allows separating the inflammatory and fibrotic steps in this pathology, underlining characteristic features of fibroblastic foci in human Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis samples. Finally, we propose phenomenological scores of lung fibrosis and we show that they unambiguously sort out control and treated mice, with a better sensitivity and reproducibility in the subpleural region. These results should be readily generalized to other organs, as an accurate method to assess extracellular matrix remodeling during fibrosis.  相似文献

A new protocol is implemented to demonstrate the presence of blood in the patina of African art objects from Mali. Divided into three steps, the protocol first consists in demonstrating the presence of proteins and localizing them in the sample's cross sections using time-of-flight secondary ion mass spectrometry (TOF-SIMS) and synchrotron-based infrared microspectrometry (microFT-IR). In a second time, TOF-SIMS is used to investigate heme, which is a blood marker. If heme is missing, which could mean that it is too degraded to be detected, X-ray microfluorescence (microXRF) and X-ray absorption near-edge microspectroscopy (microXANES) are used to prove the presence of iron in the protein area and to get a fingerprint of its chemical environment. This permits us thus to demonstrate that iron is indeed linked with proteins and not with mineral phases of the sample. Coupled with the ritual context of the objects, this constitutes a proof of the use of blood. Thanks to this protocol, which has the major advantage of avoiding false positive results, the presence of blood has been demonstrated in seven out of the eight studied samples.  相似文献
