The process of second harmonic generation (SHG) has a unique property of forming a sharp optical contrast between noncentrosymmetric crystalline materials and other types of material, which is a highly valuable asset for contrast microscopy. The coherent signal obtained through SHG also allows for the recording of holograms at high spatial and temporal resolution, enabling whole-field four-dimensional microscopy for highly dynamic microsystems and nanosystems. Here we describe a new holographic principle, harmonic holography (H(2)), which records holograms between independently generated second harmonic signals and reference. We experimentally demonstrate this technique with digital holographic recording of second harmonic signals upconverted from an ensemble of second harmonic generating nanocrystal clusters under femtosecond laser excitation. Our results show that harmonic holography is uniquely suited for ultrafast four-dimensional contrast microscopy.  相似文献

One of the most common causes of mortality and morbidity in children is perinatal hypoxia-ischemia (HI). In spite of the advances in neonatology, its incidence is not diminishing, generating a pediatric population that will require an extended amount of chronic care throughout their lifetime. For this reason, new and more effective neuroprotective strategies are urgently required, in order to minimize as much as possible the neurological consequences of this encephalopathy. In this sense, interest has grown in the neuroprotective possibilities of melatonin, as this hormone may help to maintain cell survival through the modulation of a wide range of physiological functions. Although some of the mechanisms by which melatonin is neuroprotective after neonatal asphyxia remain a subject of investigation, this review tries to summarize some of the most recent advances related with its use as a therapeutic drug against perinatal hypoxic-ischemic brain injury, supporting the high interest in this indoleamine as a future feasible strategy for cerebral asphyctic events.  相似文献

Regularization of Inverse Visual Problems Involving Discontinuities   总被引:14,自引:0,他引:14  
Inverse problems, such as the reconstruction problems that arise in early vision, tend to be mathematically ill-posed. Through regularization, they may be reformulated as well-posed variational principles whose solutions are computable. Standard regularization theory employs quadratic stabilizing functionals that impose global smoothness constraints on possible solutions. Discontinuities present serious difficulties to standard regularization, however, since their reconstruction requires a precise spatial control over the smoothing properties of stabilizers. This paper proposes a general class of controlled-continuity stabilizers which provide the necessary control over smoothness. These nonquadratic stabilizing functionals comprise multiple generalized spline kernels combined with (noncontinuous) continuity control functions. In the context of computational vision, they may be thought of as controlled-continuity constraints. These generic constraints are applicable to visual reconstruction problems that involve both continuous regions and discontinuities, for which global smoothness constraints fail.  相似文献

We propose models of 3D shape which may be viewed as deformable bodies composed of simulated elastic material. In contrast to traditional, purely geometric models of shape, deformable models are active—their shapes change in response to externally applied forces. We develop a deformable model for 3D shape which has a preference for axial symmetry. Symmetry is represented even though the model does not belong to a parametric shape family such as (generalized) cylinders. Rather, a symmetry-seeking property is designed into internal forces that constrain the deformations of the model. We develop a framework for 3D object reconstruction based on symmetry-seeking models. Instances of these models are formed from monocular image data through the action of external forces derived from the data. The forces proposed in this paper deform the model in space so that the shape of its projection into the image plane is consistent with the 2D silhouette of an object of interest. The effectiveness of our approach is demonstrated using natural images.  相似文献

A gas-fired commercial water heater has been developed which achieves a steady-state efficiency of over 95 percent and can obtain overall service efficiencies above 90 percent in many applications. These high levels of efficiency are obtained by operating in the condensing mode over a substantial portion of the duty cycle. The use of a power burner and a coil-type heat exchanger results in a compact configuration which produces both high efficiency and low emissions. The design, operating principles, and performance characteristics of the water heater are described.  相似文献

Very small sample sizes frequently become the limiting factor in biochemical and biomembrane studies in which routine quantification of protein and bulk lipids are required. The procedure described here allows the simultaneous determination of protein and lipid without initial, multiple aliquots. The method is based on the quantitative precipitation of proteins from a defined hexane/isopropanol mixture. The liquid phase resulting after decanting and concentrating to dryness can then be used to assay the lipid content directly. Quantitative assay of protein can be achieved after resuspension of the pelleted material by addition of sodium dodecyl sulfate (0.1%) and deoxycholate (1%). The method is also applicable to other types of lipid- and protein-containing samples with a broad range of protein/lipid ratios and lipid compositions, as they occur, for example, in serum lipoproteins.  相似文献

To simulate solid dynamics, we must compute the mass, the center of mass, and the products of inertia about the axes of the body of interest. These mass property computations must be continuously repeated for certain simulations with rigid bodies or as the shape of the body changes. We introduce a GPU-friendly algorithm to approximate the mass properties for an arbitrarily shaped body. Our algorithm converts the necessary volume integrals into surface integrals on a projected plane. It then maps the plane into a framebuffer in order to perform the surface integrals rapidly on the GPU. To deal with non-convex shapes, we use a depth-peeling algorithm. Our approach is image-based; hence, it is not restricted by the mathematical or geometric representation of the body, which means that it can efficiently compute the mass properties of any object that can be rendered on the graphics hardware. We compare the speed and accuracy of our algorithm with an analytic algorithm, and demonstrate it in a hydrostatic buoyancy simulation for real-time applications, such as interactive games.  相似文献

Given a collection of similar signals that have been deformed with respect to each other, the general signal-matching problem is to recover the deformation. We formulate the problem as the minimization of an energy measure that combines a smoothness term and a similarity term. The minimization reduces to a dynamic system governed by a set of coupled, first-order differential equations. The dynamic system finds an optimal solution at a coarse scale and then tracks it continuously to a fine scale. Among the major themes in recent work on visual signal matching have been the notions of matching as constrained optimization, of variational surface reconstruction, and of coarse-to-fine matching. Our solution captures these in a precise, succinct, and unified form. Results are presented for one-dimensional signals, a motion sequence, and a stereo pair.  相似文献
