We describe an instrument for measuring the particle extinction coefficient at ambient conditions in the spectral range from 270 to 1000 nm. It is based on a differential optical absorption spectroscopy (DOAS) system, which was originally used for measuring trace-gas concentrations of atmospheric absorbers in the ultraviolet-visible wavelength range. One obtains the particle extinction spectrum by measuring the total atmospheric extinction and subtracting trace-gas absorption and Rayleigh scattering. The instrument consists of two nested Newton-type telescopes, which are simultaneously used for emitting and detecting light, and two arrays of retroreflectors at the ends of the two light paths. The design of this new instrument solves crucial problems usually encountered in the design of such instruments. The telescope is actively repositioned during the measurement cycle. Particle extinction is simultaneously measured at several wavelengths by the use of two grating spectrometers. Optical turbulence causes lateral movement of the spot of light in the receiver telescope. Monitoring of the return signals with a diode permits correction for this effect. Phase-sensitive detection efficiently suppresses background signals from the atmosphere as well as from the instrument itself. The performance of the instrument was tested during a measurement period of 3 months from January to March 2000. The instrument ran without significant interruption during that period. A mean accuracy of 0.032 km(-1) was found for the extinction coefficient for an 11-day period in March.  相似文献

ZnO can be regarded as one of the most important metal oxide semiconductors for future applications. Similar to silicon in microelectronics, it is not only important to obtain nanoscale building blocks of ZnO, but also extraordinary purity has to be ensured. A new gas-phase approach to obtain size-selected, nanocrystalline ZnO particles is presented. The tetrameric alkyl-alkoxy zinc compound [CH(3)ZnOCH(CH(3))(2)](4) is chemically transformed into ZnO, and the mechanism of gas-phase transformation is studied in detail. Furthermore, the morphological genesis of particles via gas-phase sintering is investigated, and for the first time a detailed model of the gas-phase sintering processes of ZnO is presented. Various analytical techniques (powder XRD, TEM/energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy, magic-angle spinning NMR spectroscopy, FTIR spectroscopy, etc.) are used to investigate the structure and purity of the samples. In particular, the defect structure of the ZnO was studied by photoluminescence spectroscopy.  相似文献

The Potential Durability of Self‐Compacting Concrete Owing to its exceptional fresh concrete properties, the use of self‐compacting concrete SCC offers numerous technological and economical advantages. However, during the planning of constructions the question arises as to whether the special composition of SCC affects durability. Thus the potential durability of different SCC compositions was investigated systematically at the Centre for Building Materials (cbm) of the Technical University of Munich. In a first series of tests, attention was focused on the effect of the powder fraction and viscosity agents often used in SCC on durability. In addition, the effect of the special composition of SCC on the susceptibility to damaging alkali silica‐reactions ASR was investigated. The effectiveness of fly ash as a secondary cementitious material in avoiding damaging ASR when using reactive aggregate was clarified.  相似文献

The long-term stability at autothermal reforming of diesel fuel and kerosene was studied using Juelich's autothermal reformer ATR 9.2, which is equipped with a commercial proprietary RhPt/Al2O3–CeO2 catalyst. The experiment was run for 10,000 h of time on stream at constant reaction conditions with an O2/C molar ratio of 0.47, a H2O/C molar ratio of 1.9, and a gas hourly space velocity of 30,000 h−1. Kerosene produced via the gas-to-liquid process and diesel fuel synthesized via the bio-to-liquid route were used. Both fuels were almost free of mass fractions of sulfur and aromatics. The trends for the desired main products of autothermal reforming H2, CO, CO2, and CH4 were almost stable when kerosene was used. When the fuel mass flow was switched to diesel fuel however, different modes of catalyst deactivation occurred (active sites blocked by carbonaceous deposits, sintering processes), leading to a decrease in the concentrations of H2 and CO2 with a simultaneous increase in the CO content. This paper defines carbon conversion as the decisive criterion for evaluating the long-term stability during autothermal reforming of kerosene and diesel fuel. Carbon conversion was diminished via three different pathways during the long-term experiment. Undesired byproducts found in the gas phase leaving the reactor had the strongest impact on carbon conversion. These byproducts included ethene, propene, and benzene. Furthermore, a liquid oily residue was detected floating on the condensed unconverted mass flow of water. This happened once during the whole experiment. Finally, undesired organic byproducts were dissolved in the mass flow of unconverted water. These were found to be straight-chain and branched paraffins, esters, alcohols, acids, aldehydes, ketones, etc. Nevertheless, at the end of the long-term experiment, carbon conversion still amounted to more than 98.2%.  相似文献

Uncertainties in energy demand modelling allow for the development of different models, but also leave room for different calibrations of a single model. We apply an automated model calibration procedure to analyse calibration uncertainty of residential sector energy use modelling in the TIMER 2.0 global energy model. This model simulates energy use on the basis of changes in useful energy intensity, technology development (AEEI) and price responses (PIEEI). We find that different implementations of these factors yield behavioural model results. Model calibration uncertainty is identified as influential source for variation in future projections: amounting 30% to 100% around the best estimate. Energy modellers should systematically account for this and communicate calibration uncertainty ranges.  相似文献

The development of electric mobility systems with fuel cells is associated with a special constellation of circumstances. The definition of powertrain systems on board electric vehicles is dependent on the refueling infrastructure. At the same time, the development of a hydrogen infrastructure is dependent on vehicle definition and introduction. The joint development of powertrain and infrastructure is a unique opportunity to optimize both the systems. In this paper, we select a number of tradeoffs between the powertrain design and the infrastructure design and calculate technical and financial effects. By way of example we show an optimization of the fuel cell, battery and tank size subject to user behavior and infrastructure constraints. Using powertrain simulations we calculate hybridization ratio and tank size. We then show an exemplary infrastructure layout consisting of transmission and distribution networks. In this paper we consider the infrastructure in Germany by 2030. We then proceed to show the implications of the mutual dependencies between vehicle and infrastructure and to analyze technical potentials and overall system costs. Our main conclusions show ways that could be beneficial for the introduction of electric mobility with fuel cells and a hydrogen infrastructure.  相似文献
