Theoretical Considerations on the Solidification Behaviour of Rapidly Quenched Melts The rapid heating, cooling and solidification processes on laser surface melting are calculated. The influence of the laser operating parameters e.g. beam energy density, melting speed and the resultant depth of melt on the solidification parameters cooling rate, solidification rate and temperature gradient is shown. By combining the cooling curves and TTT (CT) curves an attempt can be made to predict the resulting grain size. The use of the programmes is demonstrated for other quenching methods e.g. melt spinning, powder atomizing.  相似文献

The concentration of n-hexanal in low fat, dehydrated foods can be determined in 10 min by the gas chromatographic analysis of the vapors from a 15 g sample suspended in boiling water. With 4-heptanone as an internal standard good day-to-day reproducibility was obtained and the results could be expressed as ppm hexanal in the sample. The onset of rancid odors was found to occur when the hexanal concentration increased to between 5 and 10 ppm. With an oat cereal good correlation between sensory evaluations and hexanal concentration between 0.3 and 5 ppm was obtained. The rate of hexanal increase at 55 and 45 C for a corn and a wheat cereal could be reliably projected to 37 and 21 C. Antioxidants applied to a wheat cereal reduced the rate of hexanal increase.  相似文献

A new approach is reported for analysis of ultrasmall volumes. It takes advantage of the versatile positioning of a dispenser to shoot approximately 150-pL droplets of liquid onto a specific location of a substrate where analysis is performed rapidly, in a fraction of the time that it takes for the droplet to evaporate. In this report, the site where the liquid is dispensed carries out fast-scan cyclic voltammetry (FSCV), although the detection method does not need to be restricted to electrochemistry. The FSCV is performed at a microcavity having individually addressable gold electrodes, where one serves as working electrode and another as counter/pseudoreference electrode. Five or six droplets of 10 mM [Ru(NH(3))(6)]Cl(3) in 0.1 M KCl were dispensed and allowed to dry, followed by redissolution of the redox species and electrolyte with one or five droplets of water and immediate FSCV, demonstrating the ability to easily concentrate a sample and the reproducibility of redissolution, respectively. Because this approach does not integrate detection with microfluidics on the same chip, it simplifies fabrication of devices for analysis of ultrasmall volumes. It may be useful for single-step and multistep sample preparation, analyses, and bioassays in microarray formats if dispensing and changing of solutions are automated. However, care must be taken to avoid factors that affect the aim of the dispenser, such as drafts and clogging of the nozzle.  相似文献

Conventional thermal spray processes as atmospheric plasma spraying (APS) have to use easily flowable powders with a size up to 100 μm. This leads to certain limitations in the achievable microstructural features. Suspension plasma spraying (SPS) is a new promising processing method which employs suspensions of sub-micrometer particles as feedstock. Therefore much finer grain and pore sizes as well as dense and also thin ceramic coatings can be achieved. Highly porous coatings with fine pore sizes are needed as electrodes in solid-oxide fuel cells. Cathodes made of LaSrMn perovskites have been produced by the SPS process. Their microstructural and electrochemical properties will be presented. Another interesting application is thermal barrier coating (TBC). SPS allows the manufacture of high-segmented TBCs with still relatively high porosity levels. In addition to these specific applications also the manufactures of new microstructures like nano-multilayers and columnar structures are presented.  相似文献

Effective recognition of enzymatically active tetrameric acetylcholinesterase (AChE) is accomplished by a hybrid nanofilm composed of a propidium‐terminated self‐assembled monolayer (Prop‐SAM) which binds AChE via its peripheral anionic site (PAS) and an ultrathin electrosynthesized molecularly imprinted polymer (MIP) cover layer of a novel carboxylate‐modified derivative of 3,4‐propylenedioxythiophene. The rebinding of the AChE to the MIP/Prop‐SAM nanofilm covered electrode is detected by measuring in situ the enzymatic activity. The oxidative current of the released thiocholine is dependent on the AChE concentration from ≈0.04 × 10?6 to 0.4 × 10?6m . An imprinting factor of 9.9 is obtained for the hybrid MIP, which is among the best values reported for protein imprinting. The dissociation constant characterizing the strength of the MIP‐AChE binding is 4.2 × 10?7m indicating the dominant role of the PAS‐Prop‐SAM interaction, while the benefit of the MIP nanofilm covering the Prop‐SAM layer is the effective suppression of the cross‐reactivity toward competing proteins as compared with the Prop‐SAM. The threefold selectivity gain provided by i) the “shape‐specific” MIP filter, ii) the propidium‐SAM, iii) signal generation only by the AChE bound to the nanofilm shows promise for assessing AChE activity levels in cerebrospinal fluid.  相似文献

Growing demands on the quality of thermally sprayed coatings require reliable methods to monitor and optimize the spraying processes. Thus, the importance of diagnostic methods is increasing. A critical requirement of diagnostic methods in thermal spray is the accurate measurement of temperatures. This refers to the hot working gases as well as to the in-flight temperature of the particles. This article gives a review of plasma and particle temperature measurements in thermal spray. The enthalpy probe, optical emission spectroscopy, and computer tomography are introduced for plasma measurements. To determine the in-flight particle temperatures mainly multicolor pyrometry is applied and is hence described in detail. The theoretical background, operation principles and setups are given for each technique. Special interest is attached to calibration methods, application limits, and sources of errors. Furthermore, examples of fields of application are given in the form of results of current research work.  相似文献

Material mixtures offer new possibilities for synthesizing coating materials with tailored optical and mechanical properties. We present experimental results on mixtures of HfO2, ZrO2, and Al2O3, pursuing applications in UV coating technology, while the mixtures are prepared by magnetron sputtering, ion beam sputtering, plasma ion-assisted deposition (PIAD), and electron beam evaporation without assistance. The properties investigated include the refractive index, optical gap, thermal shift, and mechanical stress. The first high reflectors for UV applications have been deposited by PIAD.  相似文献
