Superficial nanostructuration by friction stir processing (FSP) experiments has been carried out on samples of AISI 45 steel. Sixteen tests were carried out, with a traverse speed in the range of 10–70 mm/min and 900–1800 N for the normal force at a constant rotational speed of 2000 rpm, in order to determine the optimal conditions for the process applied to this material and to test its feasibility. The results obtained have shown that FSP in this range of parameters leads to the formation of a stirred layer of small grains (30 times smaller than the initial grains) with high hardness (approximately doubled). When the load is higher than 1500 N and the traverse speed is superior to 50 mm/min, a white layer (WL) with very high hardness can be produced. It has also been determined that the increase of the stirred layers’ thickness is almost linked to the increase of the normal force.  相似文献

Packings of cohesive nanoparticles, that is nanopowders, may be obtained as the result of repeated fragmentation–reagglomeration cycles (Schwager et al. in Phys Rev Lett 100:218002, 2008) such that the resulting sediment reveals a fractal structure. The size distribution of the fragments after a fragmentation step is a superposition of a narrow distribution of large particles (chunks) whose size is determined by the cutting length and a power-law distribution for small particles, representing scale invariant dust. It was shown that the exponent of the power-law, \(\tau \), is in non-trivial relation to the fractal dimension, \(d_f\), via \(d_f(2-\tau )=1\). This poses the question for the structure of the sediment created by repeated fragmentation–reagglomeration cycles when the dust particles are excluded from the reagglomeration step. We found that even in this case, repeated fragmentation–reagglomeration cycles yield a sediment of fractal structure with slightly reduced fractal dimension while the dust exponent, \(\tau \), remains unchanged.  相似文献

We present a novel application ofInductive Logic Programming (ILP) to the problem of diterpene structure elucidation from 13 CNMR spectra. Diterpenes are organic compounds oflow molecular weight with a skeleton of 20 carbon atoms. They are of significant chemical and commercial interest because oftheir use as lead compounds in the search for new pharmaceutical effectors. The interpretation of diterpene 13 CNMR spectra normally requires specialists with detailed spectroscopic knowledge and substantial experience in natural products chemistry, specifically knowledge on peak patterns and chemical structures. Given a database ofpeak patterns for diterpenes with known structure, we apply several ILP approaches to discover correlations between peak patterns and chemical structure. The approaches used include first - order inductive learning, relational instance based learning, induction oflogical decision trees, and inductive constraint logic. Performance close to that of domain experts is achieved, which suffices for practical use.  相似文献

The effect of traffic distribution on communication rates and receiver complexity in ad-hoc networks is addressed, considering a network with constant density of users and a certain traffic model. Information theoretic upper bounds on communication rates are derived under an assumption that transmitting nodes as well as receiving nodes cooperate. It is shown that for the case of large signal attenuation the bounds hold even when the cooperation among users is limited to a certain region of the network domain. Furthermore, achievability bounds on communication rates are derived. The bounds rely on two proposed local cooperation strategies. A comparison shows that the upper bounds are tight and closely follow the achievability results. Finally, the impact of traffic localization on the receiver complexity is addressed.  相似文献

The floss and oil of the common milkweed (Asclepias syriaca L.) seeds are currently used to produce comforters/pillows and skin care products, respectively. As an outcome of these products, copious quantities co-products (pressed seed meal and pod biomass) are disposed of each year despite the presence of potential health benefitting lipids. The objective of this project was to determine the feasibility of developing the lipid fraction from of these co-products for the fast growing dietary human health market. Although certain types of lipids were affected by the extraction solvent used (hexane and diethyl ether) as were overall amounts, analysis of the each extract showed novel lipid profiles with several potential health benefitting agents present at levels comparable to or exceeding those present in other typically consumed dietary oils or food systems (vitamin E, carotenoids, sterols and unsaturated free fatty acids, particularly the both omega 7-fatty acids).  相似文献

This paper proposes a new nonparametric reliability growth model for the analysis of the failure rate of a system that is undergoing development test. The only restrictions on the actual, unknown failure distribution for each stage of testing is that it be continuous, have only one unknown parameter ?, and have an associated unimodal likelihood function. No assumptions regarding the parametric form of the failure rate of the development process are made, only that there is no decay in the reliability of the system during the design changes. The parameters are assumed to be ordered from one test stage to the next such that ?1 ? ?2 ? ... ? ?m. The new model performs very well based on relative error and mean square error. The model is generally superior to the popular AMSAA model, regardless of the actual underlying failure process. In addition, the results indicate a notable bias in the AMSAA model, early in the development process, regardless of the actual underlying failure process.  相似文献

The relationship between surface-enhanced resonance Raman scattering (SERRS) intensity and the rate of deposition during silver-island film preparation was examined, using zinc tetraphenylporphine (ZnTPP) as the adsorbate. The effect of the deposition rate on the optical properties of the films at specific wavelengths was also analyzed. The data show that the film extinction (the term extinction is used rather than absorption because the spectra have not been corrected for reflection or scattering losses) increases exponentially at 514 and 458 nm as the deposition rate is decreased. SERRS intensities also increase exponentially at these two excitation wavelengths with a decrease in the deposition rate. The optical density is linearly related to the SERRS intensity, and maximal enhancement is observed for films with the greatest extinction at these excitation wavelengths. In contrast, neither the extinction at 406 nm nor the SERRS scattering intensities resulting from excitation at this wavelength differ substantially. The surface-enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) intensity and the electronic spectra of 4,4'-bipyridine (BP) adsorbed onto silver films as a function deposition rate were also examined. The behavior of the nonresonantly enhanced BP is comparable to that of the resonantly enhanced ZnTPP samples. The effects of the surface morphology, as determined from transmission electron micrographs of the films at various deposition rates, on the corresponding electronic spectra and SERS/SERRS spectra are described.  相似文献

The residual stress state of brazed ceramic/metal compounds is described by means of X-ray residual stress determinations and analytical calculations using a model of three elastic infinite plates. It is shown that the residual stress state of the soldered compound depends on the materials combination and on the geometrical conditions. The combination of X-ray residual stress measurements and analytical calculations allows decisions on whether the assumption of a linear elastic model, based on elementary bending theory, is valid for the particular compounds.  相似文献

Creativity is a cornerstone of what makes us human, yet the neural mechanisms underlying creative thinking are poorly understood. A recent surge of interest into the neural underpinnings of creative behavior has produced a banquet of data that is tantalizing but, considered as a whole, deeply self-contradictory. We review the emerging literature and take stock of several long-standing theories and widely held beliefs about creativity. A total of 72 experiments, reported in 63 articles, make up the core of the review. They broadly fall into 3 categories: divergent thinking, artistic creativity, and insight. Electroencephalographic studies of divergent thinking yield highly variegated results. Neuroimaging studies of this paradigm also indicate no reliable changes above and beyond diffuse prefrontal activation. These findings call into question the usefulness of the divergent thinking construct in the search for the neural basis of creativity. A similarly inconclusive picture emerges for studies of artistic performance, except that this paradigm also often yields activation of motor and temporoparietal regions. Neuroelectric and imaging studies of insight are more consistent, reflecting changes in anterior cingulate cortex and prefrontal areas. Taken together, creative thinking does not appear to critically depend on any single mental process or brain region, and it is not especially associated with right brains, defocused attention, low arousal, or alpha synchronization, as sometimes hypothesized. To make creativity tractable in the brain, it must be further subdivided into different types that can be meaningfully associated with specific neurocognitive processes.
