Measurements of five variations of a toroidal point-contact dc superconducting quantum interference device (SQUID) are presented. The energy resolution and other parameters of these SQUIDs are examined and compared with the predictions of the Resistively Shunted Junction model. For these SQUIDs, the measured minimum energy resolution was approximately 2×10–30 J/Hz. Excess noise in the point contacts was found to limit the energy resolution of the SQUIDs. A comparison between the typical junction parameters and noise obtained for our niobium-niobium point contacts and those of others is given. TheI–V characteristics of the junctions showed the effects of Joule heating. The white voltage noise spectral density was found to have an approximately parabolic dependence on the average voltage for bias currents larger than the critical current. While this parabolic dependence is consistent with heating effects in the junctions, the amplitude of the noise cannot be explained in terms of a heating model. The low-frequency noise of the point contacts has also been investigated. 相似文献

This paper proposes a miniature bending joint composed of serial rolling joints; it refers to the classification of small joints of other products and studies on surgical applications according to the structures and transmissions. To achieve this, a pulleyless rolling joint is introduced as a unit component and the basic design principle is established for the joint. A simple mechanism guarantees a smooth rolling contact using elastic fixtures. Underactuation, which prevents S-shaped curvature similar to buckling, is applied to drive the bending joint with a limited number of wire cables. Using a 1-DOF real-sized prototype, experiments were performed to measure the motion accuracy and payload capacity from various angles to evaluate the efficacy of an improved design that enhances the payload on the distal end. This novel joint is applicable to a wider variety of surgical tools and catheters relative to other candidates owing to its small constant curvature, reasonable payload capacity, and miniature size. 相似文献

Many applications of robotic and teleoperated manipulator arms require operation in contact and noncontact regimes. This paper deals with both regimes and the transition between them with special attention given to problems of flexibility in the links and drives. This is referred to as contact control. Inverse dynamics is used to plan the tip motion of the flexible link so that the free motion can stop very near the contact surface without collision due to overshoot. Contact must occur at a very low speed since the high frequency impact forces are too sudden to be affected by any feedback generated torques applied to a joint at the other end of the link. The effects of approach velocity and surface properties are discussed. Force tracking is implemented by commands to the deflection states of the link and the contact force. This enables a natural transition between tip position and tip force control that is not possible when the arm is treated as rigid. The effects of feedback gain, force trajectory, and desired final force level are of particular interest and are studied. Experimental results are presented on a one-link arm and the system performance in the overall contact task is analyzed. Extension to multi-link cases with potential applications are discussed. 相似文献

Avatar gender is a basic element of an MMORPG user's identity. Gender customisation in a virtual space is an expansion of identity, an attempt to express oneself in more diverse ways. A survey showed that numerous users manage gender-swapped avatars, and men in particular prefer using female avatars. This study analysed user attitudes toward gender using a Q methodology. In the process, it confirmed the generalisations and motivating factors of gender swapping. The advanced graphic technology and high degree of freedom available in recent MMORPGs has led to an increased demand for avatar physical qualities, and the motives that underlie gender selection have become more diverse and complex. Solution-domain-decomposition (SDD) method is formulated for solving heat transfer problem and generalized for solving multi-domain problem. A generalized algorithm is suggested for parallel and distributing computation. Chebyshev expansion on the dependent variables is used for pseudospectral approximation of the governing equation in this study. Linear superposition principle is adapted to incorporate the interactions between the subdomains. By effective subdivision of computational domain, significant computational efficiency and computational memory savings are accomplished without losing spectral accuracy of the solution. Owing to independent characteristics of the subdomains. the scheme is well suited for multi-processor machines. Convergence study reveals that spectra! accuracy is still conserved for the multi-domain calculation. The calculation domain is divided up to 8 subdomains and calculation is distributed up to independent CPUs. This paper proposes a new, efficient surface representation method for surface matching. A feature carrier for a surface point, which is a set of two-dimensional (2-D) contours that are the projections of geodesic circles on the tangent plane, is generated. The carrier is named point fingerprint because its pattern is similar to human fingerprints and plays a role in discriminating surface points. Corresponding points on surfaces from different views are found by comparing their fingerprints. The point fingerprint is able to carry curvature, color, and other information which can improve matching accuracy, and the matching process is faster than 2-D image comparison. A novel candidate point selection method based on the fingerprint irregularity is introduced. Point fingerprint is successfully applied to pose estimation of real range data. 相似文献

ABSTRACTThis study focuses on the decisive role played by the digital design environment in the cognitive design process and design thinking. To analyse the cognitive role of digital design tools, we carried out a protocol analysis of conventional design sketching and a 3D sculpture tool. Cognitive evaluation was a differentiating factor when considering the contextual role of the 3D sculpture tool in subsequent evaluations, non-sequential evaluations for conversion, and passive approaches within the design process. Cognitive evaluation played the following roles: validation, extension, navigation, exploration, and confirmation. The navigation, exploration, and extension roles played by non-sequential evaluation were mainly related to inductive design thinking. Finally, the types of cognitive evaluation and their roles when using the 3D sculpture tool were different, according to the design thinking type. In three-dimensional medical imaging, segmentation of specific anatomy structure is often a preprocessing step for computer-aided detection/diagnosis (CAD) purposes, and its performance has a significant impact on diagnosis of diseases as well as objective quantitative assessment of therapeutic efficacy. However, the existence of various diseases, image noise or artifacts, and individual anatomical variety generally impose a challenge for accurate segmentation of specific structures. To address these problems, a shape analysis strategy termed "break-and-repair" is presented in this study to facilitate automated medical image segmentation. Similar to surface approximation using a limited number of control points, the basic idea is to remove problematic regions and then estimate a smooth and complete surface shape by representing the remaining regions with high fidelity as an implicit function. The innovation of this shape analysis strategy is the capability of solving challenging medical image segmentation problems in a unified framework, regardless of the variability of anatomical structures in question. In our implementation, principal curvature analysis is used to identify and remove the problematic regions and radial basis function (RBF) based implicit surface fitting is used to achieve a closed (or complete) surface boundary. The feasibility and performance of this strategy are demonstrated by applying it to automated segmentation of two completely different anatomical structures depicted on CT examinations, namely human lungs and pulmonary nodules. Our quantitative experiments on a large number of clinical CT examinations collected from different sources demonstrate the accuracy, robustness, and generality of the shape "break-and-repair" strategy in medical image segmentation. 相似文献
