The river lamprey (L. fluviatilis) is a representative of the ancestral jawless vertebrate group. We performed a histological analysis of trunk muscle fiber differentiation during embryonal, larval, and adult musculature development in this previously unstudied species. Investigation using light, transmission electron (TEM), and confocal microscopy revealed that embryonal and larval musculature differs from adult muscle mass. Here, we present the morphological analysis of L. fluviatilis myogenesis, from unsegmented mesoderm through somite formation, and their differentiation into multinucleated muscle lamellae. Our analysis also revealed the presence of myogenic factors LfPax3/7 and Myf5 in the dermomyotome. In the next stages of development, two types of muscle lamellae can be distinguished: central surrounded by parietal. This pattern is maintained until adulthood, when parietal muscle fibers surround the central muscles on both sides. The two types show different morphological characteristics. Although lampreys are phylogenetically distant from jawed vertebrates, somite morphology, especially dermomyotome function, shows similarity. Here we demonstrate that somitogenesis is a conservative process among all vertebrates. We conclude that river lamprey myogenesis shares features with both ancestral and higher vertebrates.  相似文献

Adverse early life experiences are associated with an enhanced risk for mental and physical health problems, including substance abuse. Despite clinical evidence, the mechanisms underlying these relationships are not fully understood. Maternal separation (MS) is a commonly used animal model of early neglect. The aim of the current study is to determine whether the N-methyl-D-aspartate receptor (NMDAR)/glycine sites are involved in vulnerability to alcohol consumption (two-bottle choice paradigm) and reversal learning deficits (Barnes maze task) in adolescent rats subjected to the MS procedure and whether these effects are sex dependent. By using ELISA, we evaluated MS-induced changes in the NMDAR subunits (GluN1, GluN2A, GluN2B) expression, especially in the glycine-binding subunit, GluN1, in the prefrontal cortex (PFC) and ventral striatum (vSTR) of male/female rats. Next, we investigated whether Org 24598, a glycine transporter 1 (GlyT1) inhibitor, was able to modify ethanol drinking in adolescent and adult male/female rats with prior MS experience and reversal learning in the Barnes maze task. Our findings revealed that adolescent MS female rats consumed more alcohol which may be associated with a substantial increase in GluN1 subunit of NMDAR in the PFC and vSTR. Org 24598 decreased ethanol intake in both sexes with a more pronounced decrease in ethanol consumption in adolescent female rats. Furthermore, MS showed deficits in reversal learning in both sexes. Org 24598 ameliorated reversal learning deficits, and this effect was reversed by the NMDAR/glycine site inhibitor, L-701,324. Collectively, our results suggest that NMDAR/glycine sites might be targeted in the treatment of alcohol abuse in adolescents with early MS, especially females.  相似文献

The specific combinations of materials and dopants presented in this work have not been previously described. The main goal of the presented work was to prepare and compare the different properties of newly developed composite materials manufactured by sintering. The synthetic- (SHAP) or natural- (NHAP) hydroxyapatite serves as a matrix and was doped with: (i) organic: multiwalled carbon nanotubes (MWCNT), fullerenes C60, (ii) inorganic: Cu nanowires. Research undertaken was aimed at seeking novel candidates for bone replacement biomaterials based on hydroxyapatite—the main inorganic component of bone, because bone reconstructive surgery is currently mostly carried out with the use of autografts; titanium or other non-hydroxyapatite -based materials. The physicomechanical properties of the developed biomaterials were tested by Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM), Dielectric Spectroscopy (BSD), Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR), and Differential Scanning Calorimetry (DSC), as well as microhardness using Vickers method. The results showed that despite obtaining porous sinters. The highest microhardness was achieved for composite materials based on NHAP. Based on NMR spectroscopy, residue organic substances could be observed in NHAP composites, probably due to the organic structures that make up the tooth. Microbiology investigations showed that the selected samples exhibit bacteriostatic properties against Gram-positive reference bacterial strain S. epidermidis (ATCC 12228); however, the property was much less pronounced against Gram-negative reference strain E. coli (ATCC 25922). Both NHAP and SHAP, as well as their doped derivates, displayed in good general compatibility, with the exception of Cu-nanowire doped derivates.  相似文献

Ionic liquids (ILs), named also as liquid salts, are compounds that have unique properties and molecular architecture. ILs are used in various industries; however, due to their toxicity, the ILs’ recovery from the postreaction solutions is also a very important issue. In this paper, the possibility of 1,3-dialkylimidazolium IL, especially the N,N-dibutylimidazolium chloride ([C4C4IM]Cl) recovery by using the electrodialysis (ED) method was investigated. The influence of [C4C4IM]Cl concentration in diluate solution on the ED efficiency was determined. Moreover, the influence of IL on the ion-exchange membranes’ morphology was examined. The recovery of [C4C4IM]Cl, the [C4C4IM]Cl flux across membranes, the [C4C4IM]Cl concentration degree, the energy consumption, and the current efficiency were determined. The results showed that the ED allows for the [C4C4IM]Cl recovery and concentration from dilute solutions. It was found that the [C4C4IM]Cl content in the concentrates after ED was above three times higher than in the initial diluate solutions. It was noted that the ED of solutions containing 5–20 g/L [C4C4IM]Cl allows for ILs recovery in the range of 73.77–92.45% with current efficiency from 68.66% to 92.99%. The [C4C4IM]Cl recovery depended upon the initial [C4C4IM]Cl concentration in the working solution. The highest [C4C4IM]Cl recovery (92.45%) and ED efficiency (92.99%) were obtained when the [C4C4IM]Cl content in the diluate solution was equal 20 g/L. Presented results proved that ED can be an interesting and effective method for the [C4C4IM]Cl recovery from the dilute aqueous solutions.  相似文献

Hashimoto’s thyroiditis (HT) is the most common autoimmune disease and the leading cause of hypothyroidism, in which damage to the thyroid gland occurs due to the infiltration of lymphocytes. It is characterized by increased levels of antibodies against thyroid peroxidase and thyroglobulin. In this review, we present the metabolic profile, the effectiveness of micronutrient supplementation and the impact of dietary management in patients with HT. For this current literature review, the databases PubMed, Cochrane, Medline and Embase were reviewed from the last ten years until March 2022. This article provides a comprehensive overview of recent randomized controlled trials, meta-analyses, and clinical trials. Many patients with HT, even in the euthyroid state, have excess body weight, metabolic disorders, and reduced quality of life. Due to frequent concomitant nutritional deficiencies, the role of vitamin D, iodine, selenium, magnesium, iron and vitamin B12 is currently debated. Several studies have underlined the benefits of vitamin D and selenium supplementation. There is still no specific diet recommended for patients with HT, but a protective effect of an anti-inflammatory diet rich in vitamins and minerals and low in animal foods has been suggested. There is insufficient evidence to support a gluten-free diet for all HT patients. Pharmacotherapy, along with appropriate nutrition and supplementation, are important elements of medical care for patients with HT. The abovementioned factors may decrease autoantibody levels, improve thyroid function, slow down the inflammatory process, maintain proper body weight, relieve symptoms, and prevent nutritional deficiencies and the development of metabolic disorders in patients with HT.  相似文献

Accelerated storage tests are frequently used to assess the oxidative stability of foods and related systems due to its reproducibility. Various methods and experimental conditions are used to measure lipid oxidation. Differences between laboratories make it necessary to determine the repeatability and reproducibility of oxidation tests performed under the same conditions. The objective of the present interlaboratory study was to evaluate the outcome of a storage test for two different bulk oils, sunflower oil (SFO) and rapeseed oil (RSO), during a period of 9 weeks at 20°C, 30°C, 40°C, and 60°C. Sixteen laboratories were provided with bottled oils and conducted the storage tests according to a detailed protocol. Lipid oxidation was monitored by the formation of conjugated dienes (CD) and the activation energy (Ea) was determined for comparative purposes and statistically evaluated. An increase in CD formation was observed for both oils when the storage temperature was increased in all laboratories. The Ea,1 ranged from 47.9 to 73.3 kJ mol−1 in RSO and from 27.8 to 62.6 kJ mol−1 in SFO, with average values of 58.2 and 46.8 kJ mol−1, respectively. The reproducibility coefficients were 10.9% and 18.2% for RSO and SFO, respectively. Practical applications: In order to compare results on oxidative stability of foods derived from different studies, the reproducibility of storage tests and methods employed to evaluate the oxidation level should be considered. This study provides fundamental data on the reproducibility of lipid oxidation under accelerated storage conditions and defines important parameters to be considered for the conduction of experiments.  相似文献
