A rapid, dual‐stabilization route for the production of carbon fibers from polyacrylonitrile (PAN) precursor fibers is reported. A photoinitiator, 4,4′‐bis(diethylamino)benzophenone, was added to PAN solution before the fiber wet‐spinning step. After a short UV treatment that induced cyclization and crosslinking at a lower temperature, precursor fibers could be rapidly thermo‐oxidatively stabilized and successfully carbonized. Scanning electron microscopy micrographs show no deterioration of the microstructure or hollow‐core formation in the fibers due to UV treatment or presence of photoinitiator. Fast‐thermally stabilized pure PAN‐based carbon fibers show hollow‐core fiber defects due to inadequate thermal stabilization, but such defects were not observed in carbon fibers derived from fast‐thermally stabilized fibers that contained photoinitiator and were UV treated. Tensile testing results confirm that fibers containing 1 wt % photoinitiator and UV treated for 5 min display higher tensile modulus than all other sets of thermally stabilized and carbonized fibers. Wide‐angle X‐ray diffraction results show a higher development of the aromatic structure and molecular orientation in thermally stabilized fibers. No significant increase in interplanar spacing or decrease in crystals size were observed within the UV‐stabilized carbon fibers containing photoinitiator, but such fibers retain a higher extent of molecular orientation when compared with control fibers. These results establish for the first time, the positive effect of the external addition of photoinitiator and UV treatment on the properties of the PAN‐based fibers, and may be used to reduce the precursor stabilization time for faster carbon fiber production rate. © 2014 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Exogenous neuroprotective protein neuroglobin (Ngb) cannot cross the blood–brain barrier. To overcome this difficulty, we synthesized hyaluronate nanoparticles (NPs), able to deliver Ngb into the brain in an animal model of stroke (MCAO). These NPs effectively reached neurons, and were microscopically identified after 24 h of reperfusion. Compared to MCAO non-treated animals, those treated with Ngb-NPs showed survival rates up to 50% higher, and better neurological scores. Tissue damage improved with the treatment, but no changes in the infarct volume or in the oxidative/nitrosative values were detected. A proteomics approach (p-value < 0.02; fold change = 0.05) in the infarcted areas showed a total of 219 proteins that significantly changed their expression after stroke and treatment with Ngb-NPs. Of special interest, are proteins such as FBXO7 and NTRK2, which were downexpressed in stroke, but overexpressed after treatment with Ngb-NPs; and ATX2L, which was overexpressed only under the effect of Ngb. Interestingly, the proteins affected by the treatment with Ngb were involved in mitochondrial function and cell death, endocytosis, protein metabolism, cytoskeletal remodeling, or synaptic function, and in regenerative processes, such as dendritogenesis, neuritogenesis, or sinaptogenesis. Consequently, our pharmaceutical preparation may open new therapeutic scopes for stroke and possibly for other neurodegenerative pathologies.  相似文献

Boria effects on accelerated SiC oxidation kinetics were investigated by conducting thermogravimetric analysis on SiC substrates coated with sol-gel derived borosilicate glass isothermally exposed to dry O2 and argon at 800°C and 1200°C for 100 hours. Boria concentrations in the glass coatings were 0, 14-38, and 92-94 mol%, balance silica. Accelerated weight gain was observed for SiC exposures in dry O2 at 800°C when boria concentrations were ≥ 92 mol%, corroborated by oxide thickness ranging from 3.5 to 10 µm. The oxide thickness predicted for pure SiC exposed to these conditions in the absence of boria is 0.15 µm. Microstructural analysis of SiC surfaces after oxide removal revealed that boria etched the underlying SiC substrate. Oxidation exposures at 1200°C in dry O2 suppressed boria effects on accelerating SiC oxidation kinetics due to rapid boria volatilization coupled with the formation of a protective thermally grown silica scale. Accelerated weight gain or oxide growth did not occur with argon exposures at either temperature. A new mechanism for boria-accelerated SiC surface-reaction kinetics is presented based on evidence for boria etching of SiC.  相似文献

In the first experiment, the effect of the stress relaxation time on texture evaluation of biceps femoris (BF) muscle from dry-cured hams was studied. The specimens were compressed to 25% of their original height and the crosshead speed was 5mm/s. The force decay versus time was recorded and Peleg's model was fitted with different relaxation times. Whatever relaxation time was used, Peleg's model did not describe simultaneously the initial fall of force and the asymptotic tendency of force decay correctly. The initial force and force decay at 2s and at 90s are proposed to assess texture in dry-cured ham. In the second experiment, stress relaxation (SR) and texture profile analysis (TPA) tests were performed on BF and semimembranosus (SM) muscles of 10 hams with abnormal softness and 10 hams with normal texture, at different assay conditions: sample temperature (4°C or 20°C); compression crosshead speed (1mm/s or 10mm/s). The instrumental texture test and the assay conditions that detected defective textures better depended on the muscle considered: for BF muscle the SR test at 4°C and at 1mm/s and for SM muscle the TPA test at 10mm/s at both 4°C or 20°C.  相似文献

Abstract: Oil that is reused multiple times for deep frying goes through changes in chemical composition and physical characteristics, affecting the quality of the fried foods. In this study, the effect of the food type (fish nuggets or French fries) on the degradation of an oil blend during the deep‐fat frying of each food at 180°C during 12 days was determined, and the characteristics of the fried products were evaluated. The degradation of oil during repeated use was relatively faster when fish nuggets were fried than when French fries were fried, as higher values of total polar compounds were obtained. Practical Application: The results are useful for producers of French fries and fish nuggets, such as restaurants or fast foods sellers, providing them with practical guidelines within the permitted values established by the regulatory authorities. The studied foods have high economic importance and are different in their composition. Under the studied conditions, the tested oil blend may be used during 4 d (4 h per day) with a daily replenishment, without discarding the oil when frying fish nuggets, and must be discarded after 8 d when French fries are processed. This suggestion allows preparing safe fried foods for consumers.  相似文献

The corrosion behavior of 316L stainless steel (316L) and bulk amorphous Zr75Ti25 (AB) alloy was studied using electrochemical noise (EN) in simulated polymer electrolyte membrane fuel cell (PEMFC) conditions at 25 and 80 °C. At open circuit potential, under H2 environment, AB exhibited a higher corrosion-resistance than 316L and the contrary was observed under O2 environment. At imposed cathodic potential, under H2 environment for PEMFC anodic simulation, the reduction mechanism of 316L at 80 °C gave the most important EN signals of all other conditions. At imposed anodic potential, under O2 environment for cathodic simulation, the passive state was observed for 316L while severe localized corrosion for AB was obvious at 80 °C. It is concluded from the corrosion data of this work that in the anode environment of a PEMFC, the AB alloy could be a better candidate than 316L for bipolar plates. The contrary was observed in the simulated cathode environment.  相似文献

In recent years, cannabinoid type 2 receptors (CB2R) have emerged as promising therapeutic targets in a wide variety of diseases. Selective ligands of CB2R are devoid of the psychoactive effects typically observed for CB1R ligands. Based on our recent studies on a class of pyridazinone 4‐carboxamides, further structural modifications of the pyridazinone core were made to better investigate the structure–activity relationships for this promising scaffold with the aim to develop potent CB2R ligands. In binding assays, two of the new synthesized compounds [6‐(3,4‐dichlorophenyl)‐2‐(4‐fluorobenzyl)‐cisN‐(4‐methylcyclohexyl)‐3‐oxo‐2,3‐dihydropyridazine‐4‐carboxamide ( 2 ) and 6‐(4‐chloro‐3‐methylphenyl)‐cisN‐(4‐methylcyclohexyl)‐3‐oxo‐2‐pentyl‐2,3‐dihydropyridazine‐4‐carboxamide ( 22 )] showed high CB2R affinity, with Ki values of 2.1 and 1.6 nm , respectively. In addition, functional assays of these compounds and other new active related derivatives revealed their pharmacological profiles as CB2R inverse agonists. Compound 22 displayed the highest CB2R selectivity and potency, presenting a favorable in silico pharmacokinetic profile. Furthermore, a molecular modeling study revealed how 22 produces inverse agonism through blocking the movement of the toggle‐switch residue, W6.48.  相似文献

This study compares the hot corrosion performance of yttria-stabilised zirconia (7YSZ), and 7YSZ?+?Gd2O3 composite samples in the presence of molten mixture of Na2SO4?+?V2O5 at 1150°C. For 7YSZ, the reaction between NaVO3 and Y2O3 produces YVO4 and leads the transformation of tetragonal ZrO2 to monoclinic ZrO2. A high-density in sintered 7YSZ?+?Gd2O3 samples, led minor amounts of monoclinic ZrO2 and tetragonal GdVO4 as the hot corrosion products with only traceable amounts of YVO4, and a stable corroded layer was formed. Due to the synergic effect of doping of zirconia with Gd2O3, the 7YSZ?+?Gd2O3 sample has a much better hot corrosion crack resistance than 7YSZ.  相似文献

ABSTRACT: To produce specialty malt, malts were roasted by combined microwave–hot air at various specific microwave powers (SP = 2.5 to 3 W/g), microwave heating times (tmw = 3.3 to 3.5 min), oven temperatures (Toven = 180 to 220 °C), and oven heating times (toven = 60 to 150 min). The response variables, color, energy consumption by microwave (Emw) and oven (Eoven), total energy consumption (Etot), quantity of neo-formed contaminants (NFCs), which include hydroxymethylfurfural, furfural, furan, and acrylamide were determined. Response surface methodology (RSM) was performed to analyze and predict the optimum conditions for the specialty malt. Production using combined microwave–hot air roasting process based on minimum energy consumption and level of NFCs. At 95% confident level, SP, Toven, and toven were the most influencing effects with regard to Etot, whereas tmw did not affect Etot. Toven and toven significantly affected malt color. Only Toven significantly influenced the NFCs content. The optimum parameters were: SP = 2.68 W/g for 3.44 min, Toven = 206 °C for 136 min for coffee malt, SP = 2.5 W/g for 3.48 min, Toven = 214 °C for 136 min for chocolate malt, and SP = 2.5 W/g for 3.48 min, Toven = 211 °C for 150 min for black malt. Comparing with conventional process, combined microwave–hot air reduced Etot by approximately 40%, 26%, and 26% for coffee, chocolate, and black malts, respectively, and reduced HMF, furfural, furan, and acrylamide contents by 40%, 18%, 23%, and 95%, respectively, for black malt. Practical Application: An important goal for research institutions and the brewery industry is to produce colored malt by combining microwave and hot air roasting, while saving energy, getting desirable color, and avoiding the formation of carcinogenic and toxic neo-formed contaminants (NFCs). Therefore, one objective of this study was to compare energy consumption and content of NFCs during roasting of malt by hot air-only and combined microwave–hot air processes as well as to determine the effect of specific power, microwave processing time, oven temperature, and oven processing time during combined microwave–hot air roasting. Another objective was to predict the optimum conditions for the production of coffee, chocolate, and black malts.  相似文献
