In this paper, we present two heuristic energy-aware scheduling algorithms (EGMS and EGMSIV) for scheduling task precedence graphs in an embedded multiprocessor system having processing elements with dynamic voltage scaling capabilities. Unlike most energy-aware scheduling algorithms that consider task ordering and voltage scaling separately from task mapping, our algorithms consider them in an integrated way. EGMS uses the concept of energy gradient to select tasks to be mapped onto new processors and voltage levels. EGM-SIV extends EGMS by introducing intra-task voltage scaling using a Linear Programming (LP) formulation to further reduce the energy consumption. Through rigorous simulations, we compare the performance of our proposed algorithms with a few approaches presented in the literature. The results demonstrate that our algorithms are capable of obtaining energy-efficient schedules using less optimization time. On the average, our algorithms produce schedules which consume 10% less energy with more than 47% reduction in optimization time when compared to a few approaches presented in the literature. In particular, our algorithms perform better in generating energy-efficient schedules for larger task graphs. Our results show a reduction of up to 57% in energy consumption for larger task graphs compared to other approaches.  相似文献

Nowadays, server-side Web caching becomes an important technique used to reduce the User Perceived Latency (UPL). In large-scale multimedia systems, there are many Web proxies, connected with a multimedia server, that can cache some most popular multimedia objects and respond to the requests for them. Multimedia objects have some particular characteristic, e.g., strict QoS requirements. Hence, even some efficient conventional caching strategies based on cache hit ratio, meant for non-multimedia objects, will confront some problems in dealing with the multimedia objects. If we consider additional resources of proxy besides cache space, say bandwidth, we can readily observe that high hit ratios may deteriorate the entire system performance. In this paper, we propose a novel placement model for networked multimedia systems, referred to as the Hk/T model, which considers the combined influence of arrival rate, size, and playback time to select the objects to be cached. Based on this model, we propose an innovative Web caching algorithm, named as the ART-Greedy algorithm, which can balance the load among the proxies and achieve a minimum Average Response Time (ART) of the requests. Our experimental results conclusively demonstrate that the ART-Greedy algorithm outperforms the most popular and commonly used LFU (Least Frequently Used) algorithm significantly, and can achieve a better performance than the byte-hit algorithm when the system utilization is medium and high.  相似文献

BACKGROUND: Fine needle aspiration cytology is an established method for cytodiagnosis. Its application is particularly suited to the pediatric age group. A correct cytodiagnosis of especially large tumors can result in timely cytoreductive chemotherapy, thereby facilitating surgery. While the cytomorphology of Wilms' tumor is well documented, there is a paucity of literature concerning other uncommon pediatric renal tumors. CASE: A 2-year-old female underwent surgery for a renal mass following aspiration cytology. The histologic diagnosis was clear cell sarcoma of the kidney (CCSK). The cytologic smears were cellular and pleomorphic. The main feature of cytologic interest was the presence of deep nuclear indentations and grooves in many of the tumor cells. CONCLUSION: The cytologic features of CCSK are distinct and different from those of other renal tumors in children. Its recognition in cytology is important because its behavior is more aggressive than that of Wilms' tumor. A correct diagnosis can result in the institution of appropriate treatment.  相似文献

A laterally non-symmetric aza cryptand has been derivatized with two hydrophobic chains to afford amphiphiles with one cryptand headgroup and two hydrophobic tails. Three such units readily attach to 1,3,5-benzenetricarbonyl trichloride, to form a new generation of amphiphilic molecules with three cryptand headgroups and six hydrophobic chains. These molecules are studied at the air-water interface in a Langmuir trough. They readily form LB-films on a number of substrates that are characterized.  相似文献

A large amount of hydrogen is generated in nuclear reactor during loss of coolant accident (LOCA) conditions. This can be a threat to containment integrity if flammable limit (4% in air) is crossed. Passive autocatalytic recombiner is one of the most feasible remedies for this. Here we report a new class of mixed noble metal catalysts prepared by modified methods, viz Pt, Pt + Pd or Pt followed Pd on stainless steel wire gauze. These catalysts were characterised for noble metal loading, phase purity by XRD, morphology of surface by Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM). They were then evaluated for their catalytic activity for H2-O2 recombination reaction under static air condition and in presence of various poisons like carbon dioxide, methane, carbon monoxide and water.  相似文献

Effective sensorless speed estimation is desirable for both on-line condition monitoring and assessment, and for efficiency calculation of induction motors running off the power supply mains. In this paper, a sensorless neural adaptive speed filter is developed for induction motors operating under normal and anomalous conditions, such as supply imbalance, as well as incipient faults, such as electrical, electromechanical, and mechanical faults. The filter is demonstrated by comparisons with experimental speed measurements and spectral speed estimates. In addition to nameplate information required for the initial setup, the proposed neural speed filter uses only measured motor terminal currents and voltages. Initial training of the speed filter is accomplished off-line, using rotor slot harmonic-based speed estimates. The developed speed filter is scalable and it has been used for speed estimation of induction motors with varying power ratings. Incremental tuning is used to further improve filter performance and reduce filter development time significantly.  相似文献
