The effect of wollastonite nanofibers (NW) on biological resistance of medium-density fiberboards (MDF) made from wood and chicken-feather fibers (CF) against Antrodia vaillantii was studied. NW content of 10 % and CF content of 5 and 10 %, based on the dry weight of wood fibers, were applied to the MDF matrix, giving a total of six different MDF mixing treatments. Mass loss values were measured roughly following the EN 113 specifications. The results showed that NW significantly decreased mass loss to a considerable extent in all mixing ratios, proving its potential to be used as a suitable preservative in wood-composite materials without environmental hazards. A CF content of 5 % showed improving effects on biological resistance, while CF of 10 % was too high and resulted in a weak MDF-matrix; eventually the biological resistance did not improve properly. NW ameliorated part of the undesirable effect of adding chicken feather fibers to the MDF-matrix. A significantly high correlation was found between mass loss versus water absorption (R 2 of 81 %), implying that the penetration of water and fungal hyphae can have rather similar patterns. It can be concluded that NW not only can be used to improve the biological resistance in wood-composite materials against fungi attack, but it can also reduce some of the undesirable properties of chicken feathers, thus providing a reliable and renewable resource for natural fibers to be used in the MDF manufacturing industry.  相似文献

In this paper, an adaptive neuro-fuzzy inference system (ANFIS) is used to predict the free convection in a partitioned cavity consisting of an adiabatic partition. The main focus of the present paper is to consider the effects of partition angle and Rayleigh number variation on average heat transfer in the partitioned cavity. The training data for optimizing the ANFIS structure is obtained experimentally. For the best ANFIS structure obtained in this study, the mean relative errors of the train and test data were found to be 0.055% and 1.735% respectively, which shows that ANFIS can predict the experimental results precisely.  相似文献

In the present work, rarefied gas flow between two parallel moving plates maintained at the same uniform temperature is simulated using the direct simulation Monte Carlo (DSMC) method. Heat transfer and shear stress behavior in the micro/nano-Couette flow is studied and the effects of the important molecular structural parameters such as molecular diameter, mass, degrees of freedom and viscosity–temperature index on the macroscopic behavior of gases are investigated. Velocity, temperature, heat flux and shear stress in the domain are studied in details. Finally, a discussion on the role of the molecular structural parameters in the decrease or increase of amounts of hydrodynamics and thermal properties of the gas is presented.  相似文献

ABSTRACT

Objective: We systematically reviewed available randomized clinical trials (RCTs) to elucidate the overall effects of synbiotic supplementation in patients with nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD).

Methods: PubMed, Scopus, ISI Web of science and Google Scholar were searched up to December, 2017. All RCTs using synbiotic supplements to treat NAFLD included in this systematic review and meta-analysis. Mean Difference (MD) was pooled using a random-effects model.

Results: Eleven eligible databases from seven RCTs were identified for the present meta-analysis. Our results showed that synbiotic supplementation can decrease body weight, fasting blood sugar, insulin, low density lipoprotein cholesterol, total cholesterol, triglyceride, high-sensitivity C-reactive protein, tumor necrosis factor alpha, alanine transaminase and aspartate transaminase levels among patients with NAFLD. In contrast, synbiotic did not have favorable effects on body mass index (BMI), waist circumference, homeostasis model assessment for insulin resistance (HOMA-IR), and high density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL) levels compared with the placebo group.

Conclusion: The current study revealed that synbiotic supplementation has favorable effect on inflammatory factors, liver enzymes and some anthropometric indices, lipid profiles and glucose homeostasis parameters in patients with NAFLD.  相似文献

Solar energy is going to play a crucial role in the future energy scenario of the world that conducts interests to solar-to-hydrogen as a means of achieving a clean energy carrier. Hydrogen is a sustainable energy carrier, capable of substituting fossil fuels and decreasing carbon dioxide (CO2) emission to save the world from global warming. Hydrogen production from ubiquitous sustainable solar energy and an abundantly available water is an environmentally friendly solution for globally increasing energy demands and ensures long-term energy security. Among various solar hydrogen production routes, this study concentrates on solar thermolysis, solar thermal hydrogen via electrolysis, thermochemical water splitting, fossil fuels decarbonization, and photovoltaic-based hydrogen production with special focus on the concentrated photovoltaic (CPV) system. Energy management and thermodynamic analysis of CPV-based hydrogen production as the near-term sustainable option are developed. The capability of three electrolysis systems including alkaline water electrolysis (AWE), polymer electrolyte membrane electrolysis, and solid oxide electrolysis for coupling to solar systems for H2 production is discussed. Since the cost of solar hydrogen has a very large range because of the various employed technologies, the challenges, pros and cons of the different methods, and the commercialization processes are also noticed. Among three electrolysis technologies considered for postulated solar hydrogen economy, AWE is found the most mature to integrate with the CPV system. Although substantial progresses have been made in solar hydrogen production technologies, the review indicates that these systems require further maturation to emulate the produced grid-based hydrogen.  相似文献

Fluid flow manifold plays a significant role in the performance of a fuel cell stack because it affects the pressure drop, reactants distribution uniformity and flow losses, significantly. In this study, the flow distribution and the pressure drop in the gas channels including the inlet and outlet manifolds, with U- and Z-type arrangements, of a 10-cell PEM fuel cell stack are analyzed at anode and cathode sides and the effects of inlet reactant stoichiometry and manifold hydraulic diameter on the pressure drop are investigated. Furthermore, the effect of relative humidity of oxidants on the pressure drop of cathode are investigated. The results indicate that increase of the manifold hydraulic diameter leads to decrease of the pressure drop and a more uniform flow distribution at the cathode side when air is used as oxidant while utilization of humidified oxidant results in increase of pressure drop. It is demonstrated that for the inlet stoichiometry of 2 and U type manifold arrangement when the relative humidity increases from 25% to 75%, the pressure drop increases by 60.12% and 116.14% for oxygen and air, respectively. It is concluded that there is not a significant difference in pressure drop of U- and Z-type arrangements when oxygen is used as oxidant. When air is used as oxidant, the effect of manifold type arrangement is more significant than other cases, and increase of the stoichiometry ratio from 1.25 to 2.5 leads to increase of pressure drop by 527.3%.  相似文献

In this study, a series of BaO-MnOx mixed oxide catalysts were synthesized by the mechanochemical method and employed in lean methane catalytic combustion (MCC) at low temperatures. The synthesized catalysts were characterized by XRD, BET, TGA, FT-IR, H2-TPR, O2-TPD, and FESEM analyses. The results indicated that the 10 wt% BaO-MnOx catalyst with a BET surface area of 25 m2 g?1 possessed the best catalytic performance. The higher activity of the 10 wt% BaO-MnOx catalyst was due to the higher ability to supply oxygen through the components during the MCC process. The light-off temperature corresponding to 50% of the methane conversion was about 330 °C, which was about 50 °C lower than the pure MnOx. Moreover, for the BaO(10)-MnOx catalyst, the 10 and 90% of methane conversion temperatures were about 305 and 427 °C, respectively. Also, the 10 wt% BaO-MnOx catalyst exhibited high catalytic stability under dry feed condition at 450 °C for 50 h. Furthermore, the influence of various parameters such as calcination temperature, feed ratio, GHSV, pretreatment condition, and presence of water vapor in the feedstock was studied on the catalytic performance.  相似文献

In this study, using a central composite design, the effects of addition of Spirulina platensis and Zedo gum to plain and probiotic yoghurt samples were investigated during storage. Lactobacillus paracasei proliferation was directly dependent on the addition of microalgae and was inversely affected by storage time. Probiotic samples containing S. platensis showed the highest antioxidative activity. Maximum stability was obtained at higher amounts of Zedo gum, while organoleptic and rheological attributes improved at 0.25% Zedo gum. Given the importance of probiotic viability, supplementation of probiotic yoghurt with Zedo gum/S. platensis may be consideredas a novel nutraceutical formulation.  相似文献
