In this paper, we present a new rectifying device, compatible with the technology of CMOS image sensors, suitable for implementing a direct-conversion detector operating at room temperature for operation at up to terahertz frequencies. The rectifying device can be obtained by introducing some simple modifications of the charge-storage well in conventional CMOS integrated circuits, making the proposed solution easy to integrate with the existing imaging systems. The rectifying device is combined with the different elements of the detector, composed of a 3D high-performance antenna and a charge-storage well. In particular, its position just below the edge of the 3D antenna takes maximum advantage of the high electric field concentrated by the antenna itself. In addition, the proposed structure ensures the integrity of the charge-storage well of the detector. In the structure, it is not necessary to use very scaled and costly technological nodes, since the CMOS transistor only provides the necessary integrated readout electronics. On-wafer measurements of RF characteristics of the designed junction are reported and discussed. The overall performances of the entire detector in terms of noise equivalent power (NEP) are evaluated by combining low-frequency measurements of the rectifier with numerical simulations of the 3D antenna and the semiconductor structure at 1 THz, allowing prediction of the achievable NEP. 相似文献

Fuel cell stacks produce a dc output with a 2:1 voltage variation from no load to full load. It is customary for a utility-scale fuel cell stack to consist of several hundreds of series-connected cells, each producing 0.6 V at full load. A power conditioner consisting of dc-dc and dc-ac converters is required for utility interface, which are operated in high frequency, employing pulsewidth-modulation control for voltage and current regulation. Due to their switch-mode nature, a common-mode voltage with respect to ground is generated. The common-mode voltage, in turn, contributes to the circulating ground current, which can interfere with the ground fault protection system. In addition, it also contributes to the neutral shift and electromagnetic interference. Moreover, the electrostatic potential to ground within the fuel cell stack needs to be limited for safe operation. This paper presents an analysis of common-mode voltage in several fuel-cell-powered converter topologies connected to the electric utility and discusses several mitigation methods suitable for utility-scale generation. 相似文献

The development of new flexible and stretchable sensors addresses the demands of upcoming application fields like internet‐of‐things, soft robotics, and health/structure monitoring. However, finding a reliable and robust power source to operate these devices, particularly in off‐the‐grid, maintenance‐free applications, still poses a great challenge. The exploitation of ubiquitous temperature gradients, as the source of energy, can become a practical solution, since the recent discovery of the outstanding thermoelectric properties of a conductive polymer, poly(3,4‐ethylenedioxythiophene)‐poly(styrenesulfonate) (PEDOT:PSS). Unfortunately the use of PEDOT:PSS is currently constrained by its brittleness and limited processability. Herein, PEDOT:PSS is blended with a commercial elastomeric polyurethane (Lycra), to obtain tough and processable self‐standing films. A remarkable strain‐at‐break of ≈700% is achieved for blends with 90 wt% Lycra, after ethylene glycol treatment, without affecting the Seebeck voltage. For the first time the viability of these novel blends as stretchable self‐powered sensors is demonstrated. 相似文献

In this paper, we extensively investigate a family of solar-blind thin-film photodetectors optimized for the ultraviolet spectrum (UV). The devices are p-i-n structures made of hydrogenated amorphous silicon (a-Si:H) and silicon carbide (a-SiC:H) on a glass substrate. At room temperature the photodetectors exhibit values of quantum efficiency of 20% at λ=187 nm, and are transparent to visible radiation. The excellent sensitivity of the device at short wavelengths is explained within the framework of a diffusive model of transport, taking into account the effects of hot carrier relaxation. The rejection of visible light is obtained with an appropriate design of the energy gap and intrinsic layer thickness. In this study, new nanostructured CuMgAl Layered Double Hydroxide (LDH) based materials are synthesized on a 4 cm2 sized carbonaceous gas diffusion membrane. By means of microscopic and spectroscopic techniques, the catalysts are thoroughly investigated, revealing the presence of several species within the same material. By a one-step, reproducible potentiodynamic deposition it is possible to obtain a composite with an intimate contact between a ternary CuMgAl LDH and Cu0/Cu2O species. The catalyst compositions are investigated by varying: the molar ratio between the total amount of bivalent cations and Al3+, the amount of loading, and the molar ratios among the three cations in the electrolyte. Each electrocatalyst has been evaluated based on the catalytic performances toward the electrochemical CO2 reduction to CH3COOH at −0.4 V versus reversible hydrogen electrode in liquid phase. The optimized catalyst, that is, CuMgAl 2:1:1 LDH exhibits a productivity of 2.0 mmolCH3COOH gcat−1 h−1. This result shows the beneficial effects of combining a material like the LDHs, alkaline in nature, and thus with a great affinity to CO2, with Cu0/Cu+ species, which couples the increase of carbon sources availability at the electrode with a redox mediator capable to convert CO2 into a C2 product. 相似文献

Sugar content is one of the most important quality attributes of citrus fruit, either for fresh or for processing market.
Since sugars in citrus juice are highly correlated with total soluble solids (TSS) content, which can be determined easily
even by the means of a hand refractometer, TSS is one of the most frequently used quality index. Since TSS can be measured
only destructively, the results are representative only if carried out on large samples and do not allow classifying marketable
fruit one by one according to their specific sugar content. Objective of this experiment was to assess possibility and limits
of a non-destructive estimation of citrus fruits internal quality parameters (TSS and titratable acidity) presenting thick
peel by the use of a spectrophotometric portable VIS-NIR system. Four hundred fruit of “Miho” satsuma and 150 fruit of “Page”
tangelo were used. Each fruit was first subjected to spectrophotometric acquisition and soon after was juiced and TSS and
titratable acidity (TA) determined. Partial least squares (PLS) regression analysis was applied for constructing a predictive
model based on the spectral normalized response, constructing the model on a sub-sample and verifying the model (prediction
test) on independent ones. The TA relative to Page mandarin was predicted in the test with an r = 0.88 and a standard error of prevision (SEP) coefficient of variability of 3.8% while the TSS scored an r = 0.85 and a SEP coefficient of variability equal to 4%. The TA of Miho mandarin was predicted in the test with an r = 0.81 and a SEP coefficient of Variability of 8.3% while the TSS scored an r = 0.84 and a SEP coefficient of variability equal to 5.6%. 相似文献

A standard fresh pasta formulation (STD, the control sample) was modified by introducing soy and carrot ingredients both in
dry and in liquid forms (soy and carrot flour and soy milk and carrot juice) to obtain eight nutritionally enriched fresh
pasta samples with different formulations. The effect of formulation on selected physicochemical properties and water status
of fresh pasta were studied. Colour, texture (force at rupture and extensibility), and cooking loss were found significantly
affected by the formulation. Soy and carrot decreased the force at rupture and extensibility of fresh pasta and increased
the solids loss during cooking. Improper gluten network development due to either a steric hindrance of soy and carrot solids
or improper water availability for gluten hydration due to different water–solid interaction developed were hypothesized.
Soy and carrot ingredients significantly altered the water dynamics in the pasta matrix at different space-time levels (macroscopic,
moisture content and water activity; macromolecular, frozen water content; molecular, proton nuclear magnetic resonance relaxometry)
of fresh pasta in a manner dependent upon the physical state of the added ingredient. Soy flour increased both the frozen
water content and the overall proton mobility (1H FID, 1H T
1 and T
2) of fresh pasta while these parameters did not markedly differed from STD when soy milk was used. The presence of both carrot
flour and carrot juice decreased significantly the frozen water content of fresh pasta but, at a molecular level, carrot flour

ABSTRACTFatty acid esters of 3-monochloropropanediol (3-MCPD), 2-MCPD and glycidol (Gly) are food-processing contaminants that cause concerns about possible adverse health effects. The present study evaluates the contamination levels of the three ester classes in 130 samples of foodstuffs marketed in Italy covering 10 food categories, namely margarines, oils, roasted coffee, breakfast cereals, salted crackers, cookies, infant biscuits, rusks, breads and potato crisps. The analytical method employed is a so-called indirect method that entails MCPD/glycidol cleavage from their esterified forms, cleanup, derivatisation and GC-MS analysis. The MCPDs and glycidol concentrations (from esters) were found to be equal or a little higher than the levels reported in previous studies conducted in other European countries and described in the literature. 3-MCPD was the predominant compound in all foodstuffs analysed with the exception for rusks where Gly levels were slightly higher. Considering the sum of MCPD and Gly esters, the most contaminated foodstuffs were seed oils, followed by margarines and cookies, whereas roasted coffee, bread, rusks, cornflakes and infant biscuits were less contaminated with MCPDs and Gly concentrations often below LOQ or LOD values. Refined olive oil, potato chips and salted crackers showed contamination levels intermediate between the two above groups. The results of this study also confirm that the use of palm oil as an ingredient or frying medium is an important cause of increase of the levels of MCPD and Gly esters, especially in salted crackers, rusks and potato crisps. Finally, the Italian intake of 3-MCPD due to the various foods analysed has been calculated and related to TDI. The MoE for Gly was also estimated. 相似文献
