Random copolymers of poly(ethylene glycol) methacrylate (PEGM), and diethyl amino ethyl methacrylate (DEAEM) were synthesized at low, and high conversions by photoinitiation. Crosslinked poly(PEGM-co-DEAEM) samples were obtained, and characterized by FTIR, SEM, DSC, TGA, and elemental analyses. Swelling behavior of the copolymers revealed that the copolymers acted as superabsorbent hydrogels. The monomer reactivity ratios were calculated using Fineman Ross, Extended Kelen Tüdøs , and Mayo Lewis methods that gave r1(PEGM) = 0.90, r2(DEAEM) = 0.14 at low conversions. At high conversions r1 and r2 values were calculated as 1.01 and 0.40, respectively. Adsorption isotherms of methyl orange (MO) onto hydrogels were studied using Langmuir, Freundlich, and Temkin models. The experimental data fitted well with the Langmuir equation. The maximum adsorption capacity for MO was 212.7 mg g−1 at pH = 3. The adsorption data gave best fit with the pseudo-second order kinetic model. We study a communication scheduling and remote estimation problem within a worst-case scenario that involves a strategic adversary. Specially, a remote sensing system consisting of a sensor, an encoder and a decoder is configured to observe, transmit, and recover a discrete time stochastic process. At each time step, the sensor makes an observation on the state variable of the stochastic process. The sensor is constrained by the number of transmissions over the time horizon, and thus it needs to decide whether to transmit its observation or not after making each measurement. If the sensor decides to transmit, it sends the observation to the encoder, who then encodes and transmits the observation to the decoder. Otherwise, the sensor and the encoder maintain silence. The decoder is required to generate a real-time estimate on the state variable. The sensor, the encoder, and the decoder collaborate to minimize the sum of the communication cost for the sensor, the encoding cost for the encoder, and the estimation error for the decoder. There is also a jammer interfering with the communication between the encoder and the decoder, by injecting an additive channel noise to the communication channel. The jammer is charged for the jamming power and is rewarded for the estimation error generated by the decoder, and it aims to minimize its net cost. We consider a feedback Stackelberg game with the sensor, the encoder, and the decoder as the composite leader, and the jammer as the follower. Under some technical assumptions, we obtain a feedback Stackelberg solution, which is threshold based for the scheduler, and piecewise affine for the encoder and the decoder. We also generate numerical results to demonstrate the performance of the remote sensing system under the feedback Stackelberg solution.   相似文献

Nanocomposite stereoregular hybrid gels of poly(N-isopropylacrylamide) were prepared in 1:1 methanol–water mixture in the presence rare earth yttrium trifluoromethanesulfonate Lewis acid and graphene oxide (GO). The nanocomposite gels were characterized by swelling ratio measurements at different temperatures and different pH, deswelling kinetics, scanning electrone microscopy, FTIR, thermogravimetric analysis, powder XRD, Raman spectroscopy, LCST measurement by DSC etc. Drug release experiments also done by using tramadol hydrochloride as a model drug to check their suitability in application. All results were explained on the basis of porosity, cononsolvency of the synthesis solvents, hydrophilicity, isotacticity, pH effect, interactions between solvents and polymer molecules, interactions between polymer and GO or interactions between GO and solvents etc.  相似文献

The relationship between the mean glandular dose (MGD) and the compressed breast thickness (CBT) is commonly used for the presentation of mammographic dose survey results and could also be useful for the assessment of individual breast doses retrospectively in case of lack of necessary dosimetric instrumentation. The high data scattering from the best fit reduces the reliability of this technique. The aim of this study was to investigate the accuracy of this relationship using the data collected from a patient survey and phantom experiment. Patients were divided into three different groups according to their breast glandularities, which were predicted from the inspection of previous mammograms. X-ray beam qualities that will be used in patient examinations were determined according to breast thickness and predicted glandularities. The MGD versus CBT relationship for all the examined patients resulted in a poor correlation (R(2) = 0.28). This relationship was separately obtained for each glandularity group and also for sub-groups of specific beam qualities. The best correlation (R(2) = 0.73) was obtained for the fatty breast group and Mo/Mo combination. A low correlation (R(2) = 0.34) was observed in the mid-glandularity group due to inclusion of a wide range of glandularities in this group. In the case of the dense breast group, although the glandularity range was narrow, there were e still high data scattering (R(2) = 0.25). This was probably due to the use of Mo/Rh and Mo/Mo combinations. This is validated by obtaining the MGD-CBT relationship specific to Mo/Mo combination (R(2) = 0.61).  相似文献

Magnetic beads were prepared from glycidyl methacrylate (GMA), and ethyleneglycol dimethylmethacrylate (EGDMA) in the presence of Fe3O4 nano‐powder via suspension polymerization. The magnetic beads were characterized by surface area measurement, electron spin resonance (ESR), and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). ESR data revealed that the beads were highly super‐paramagnetic. The effects of contact time, pH, ionic strength, and temperature on the adsorption process have been studied. Adsorption equilibrium was established in about 120 min. The maximum adsorption of trypsin on the magnetic beads was obtained as 84.96 mg g?1 at around pH 7.0. At increased ionic strength, the contribution of the electrostatic component to the overall binding decreased, and so the adsorption capacity. The experimental equilibrium data obtained trypsin adsorption onto magnetic beads fitted well to the Langmuir isotherm model. The result of kinetic analyzed for trypsin adsorption onto magnetic ion‐exchange beads showed that the second order rate equation was favorable. It was observed that after six adsorption–elution cycle, magnetic beads can be used without significant loss in trypsin adsorption capacity. Nonimprinted and Fe3+ imprinted chitosan tripolyphosphate gel beads were prepared via physical gel formation. A method based on in situ crosslinking using ethylene glycol diglycidyl ether was developed to imprint the chitosan tripolyphosphate gels with Fe3+ ion without deteriorating the gel beads. The beads were characterized by FTIR, SEM, XRD, and DSC with respect to the chemical structure, surface morphology, crystallinity, and thermal behavior. Swelling kinetics and Fe3+ ion adsorption behavior from aqueous solution were studied. The Fe3+ imprinted and in situ crosslinked beads proved to be durable and effective adsorbents for Fe3+ in solution. The bead prepared by in situ crosslinking and in the presence of 10 mM template ion had an equilibrium iron adsorption capacity of 53.9 mg/g after 3-hour contact with 5 mM Fe3+ solution. The pros and cons of the beads as biomedical iron adsorbents were tested by evaluating their serum iron removal capacities from human blood. The preliminary tests carried out showed that Fe3+ imprinted beads were more effective in decreasing serum iron in human blood when compared to the nonimprinted beads. The decrease in serum iron level accompanied a parallel decrease in the hemoglobin level. The calcium level was also affected upon contact with the beads. The Fe3+ imprinted beads were less effective than the nonimprinted ones in decreasing the calcium level indicating selectivity towards iron containing species. © 2012 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Central venous catheterization is frequently performed for perioperative management and long-term intravenous access. Although complications associated with central venous catheter insertion have been widely reported, there are few reports of carotid-jugular arteriovenous fistula formation. Endovascular procedures are associated with a risk of immediate and delayed thromboembolic and ischemic complications. We describe a case of a carotid-jugular arteriovenous fistula and a cerebrovascular infarct following the insertion of a double-lumen catheter for hemodialysis access. We provide recommendations for the prevention and the early detection of this iatrogenic complication.  相似文献

Various nitrocellulose, NC, based propellant formulations need to be processed using new and more environmentally friendly solvent combinations on the one hand and using continuous processing methodologies on the other hand. A detailed understanding of the significant changes that take place in the structure and hence the rheological behavior of NC based formulations during manufacture is required to minimize the use of organic solvents and to revert to safer and green solvents. Towards achieving these objectives, experimental methodologies were developed for the first time to enable the accurate characterization and thus fingerprinting of the rheological behavior of NC gels. In these methodologies linear viscoelastic measurements are employed. The concentration of the solvents existing in the gel sample during rheological characterization is concomitantly monitored to allow the documentation of the major source of error associated with the rapid loss of the typical solvents, which generally exhibit relatively high vapor pressures. These measurements have indicated that the source of the NC fibers and the treatment method alter the rheological behavior and can be tracked. The rheological properties of the NC gels can be linked to their manufacturability and such data can be used to pinpoint optimum geometries and processing conditions. The processability of the NC based formulations can also be tailored on the basis of rheological characterization, allowing the manufacturers greater latitude for reducing costs and environmental footprint during manufacture, as well as improving the quality of their NC based energetic formulations.  相似文献

In this study, drying behavior of viscose yarn bobbins was investigated experimentally to specify the optimum drying conditions and a drying model was proposed for simulation of drying. The experiments were conducted in a pressurized hot-air bobbin dryer, which was designed and manufactured based on the dryers used in the textile industry. Drying process was performed for various drying parameters: bobbin diameter, drying temperature, drying pressure, and volumetric flow rate of drying air. The results show that total drying time is strongly dependent on drying pressure, drying temperature, and volumetric flow rate and increase at these parameters shortens the drying time considerably. The results also show that the minimum energy consumption is for lower values of drying temperature and drying pressure and modest and higher values of volumetric flow rate. Simulation results show that the most appropriate model in describing the drying curves of viscose yarn bobbins is the stretched exponential model.  相似文献

Mean-square dipole moments for styrene/4-vinylpyridine (S4VP) random copolymers were determined at five different temperatures, 25–60°C, in 1,4-dioxane solution. The dipole moment behaviour was examined with respect to the increase in mole fraction of the polar monomer, 4-vinylpyridine (4VP), in the copolymer. The behaviour observed was different from the general behaviour of similar copolymers. The temperature coefficient of the dipole moment ratio was found to be zero, within experimental error, in the temperature interval 25–60°C.  相似文献
