The ability to process and dimensionally scale field‐effect transistors with and on paper and to integrate them as a core component for low‐power‐consumption analog and digital circuits is demonstrated. Low‐temperature‐processed p‐ and n‐channel integrated oxide thin‐film transistors in the complementary metal oxide semiconductor (CMOS) inverter architecture are seamlessly layered on mechanically flexible, low‐cost, recyclable paper substrates. The possibility of building these circuits using low‐temperature processes opens the door to new applications ranging from smart labels and sensors on clothing and packaging to electronic displays printed on paper pages for use in newspapers, magazines, books, signs, and advertising billboards. Because the CMOS circuits reported constitute fundamental building blocks for analog and digital electronics, this development creates the potential to have flexible form factor computers seamlessly layered onto paper. The holistic approach of merging low‐power circuitry with a recyclable substrate is an important step towards greener electronics.  相似文献

Two different reduced graphene oxides (rGOs) with similar concentration of oxygen and defects and differences in exfoliation were prepared to produce the rGO/thermoplastic polyurethane nanocomposites by solution blending (SB) and melt compounding (MC). Morphology, electrical, and dielectric properties were studied. Large agglomerates have been observed for the composites produced by SB and discrete and low agglomerated rGO particles in the case on the composites produced by MC. These morphological differences justify the observations in hardness, electrical conductivity, and even in the dielectric properties. The composites do not follow Jonscher's universal power law (UPL) and a linear trend between UPL factors (Log A vs n) has been observed for composites produced by SB, however, no trend is observed in the composites produced by MC, being the first time observed. Differences in the tunneling effect and breakage of H-bonds within the polymer can be suggested from the dielectric relaxation characterization. © 2018 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J. Appl. Polym. Mutations in the GBA1 gene coding for glucocerebrosidase (GCase) are the main genetic risk factor for Parkinson’s disease (PD). Indeed, identifying reduced GCase activity as a common feature underlying the typical neuropathological signatures of PD—even when considering idiopathic forms of PD—has recently paved the way for designing novel strategies focused on enhancing GCase activity to reduce alpha-synuclein burden and preventing dopaminergic cell death. Here we have performed bilateral injections of a viral vector coding for the mutated form of alpha-synuclein (rAAV9-SynA53T) for disease modeling purposes, both in mice as well as in nonhuman primates (NHPs), further inducing a progressive neuronal death in the substantia nigra pars compacta (SNpc). Next, another vector coding for the GBA1 gene (rAAV9-GBA1) was unilaterally delivered in the SNpc of mice and NHPs one month after the initial insult, together with the contralateral delivery of an empty/null rAAV9 for control purposes. Obtained results showed that GCase enhancement reduced alpha-synuclein burden, leading to improved survival of dopaminergic neurons. Data reported here support using GCase gene therapy as a disease-modifying treatment for PD and related synucleinopathies, including idiopathic forms of these disorders.  相似文献

Chickpea (Cicer arietinum) is one of the most consumed pulses worldwide (over 2.3 million tons enter the world market annually). Some chickpea components have shown, in preclinical and clinical studies, several health benefits, including antioxidant capacity, and antifungal, antibacterial, analgesic, anticancer, antiinflammatory, and hypocholesterolemic properties, as well as angiotensin I-converting enzyme inhibition. In the United States, chickpea is consumed mostly in the form of hummus. However, the development of new products with value-added bioactivity is creating new opportunities for research and food applications. Information about bioactive compounds and functional properties of chickpea ingredients in the development of new products is needed. The objective of this review was to summarize available scientific information, from the last 15 years, on chickpea production, consumption trends, applications in the food industry in the elaboration of plant-based snacks, and on its bioactive compounds related to type 2 diabetes (T2D). Areas of opportunity for future research and new applications of specific bioactive compounds as novel food ingredients are highlighted. Research is key to overcome the main processing obstacles and sensory challenges for the application of chickpea as ingredient in snack preparations. The use of chickpea bioactive compounds as ingredient in food products is also a promising area for accessibility of their health benefits, such as the management of T2D.  相似文献

Polyvinyl chloride compounds rupture prematurely in contact with environmental stress cracking (ESC) agents such as plasticizers. This effect shows a considerable deviation in a stress rupture plot (log stress vs log time) from the expected stress rupture in the absence of ESC agents. PVC and polymers in general dilate under a stress, increase free volume, and allow diffusion of the ESC agent and plasticization of the polymer. However, we show ESC failure is not dependent alone on molecular size of the ESC agent when comparing di-2-ethylhexyl adipate (DOA), di-2-ethylhexyl phthalate (DOP), and tri-2-ethylhexyl trimelitate (TOTM). Therefore this suggests that ESC failure is not strictly associated with diffusion of the ESC agent into the free volume of the PVC, but rather flaws and stress concentrations play a large role. Higher molecular weight PVC retards rupture, both in air and in contact with the ESC agent. However, the safe way to design PVC parts is to avoid ESC contact with stressed PVC rather than using high molecular weight PVC. Part design can play an important role in preventing these premature failures by keeping the ESC agent away from contact with stressed PVC.  相似文献

Four strains of Aujeszky's Disease virus (ADV) were included in this study; three Mexican field isolates (215,145 and C-8) in conjunction with the Shope reference strain of ADV, which has known pathogenic characteristics. All four strains were included in each treatment, which consisted of heat treatment, trypsin treatment and passed ten times on chicken embryo fibroblasts. Both virus titer and plaque size were determined on the first and tenth passage and on treated and untreated strains. On each of the treatments, the plaque size had significant differences (p = 0.001) which had relation to the two factors studied, namely strain and passage level. There was no significant variation related to the type of treatment between strains. With the strains under study, the authors also made rabbit pathogenicity tests, and it was found that on passage one, the strains caused clear nervous symptoms and death, while on the tenth passage level, the Mexican strains produced slight pruritus, few nervous symptoms and allowed the rabbits to survive. The mouse test revealed an increased median death time after the treatments, as well as a large increase in standard deviations. These data are interpreted as an increased heterogeneity of the strains in all of the treatments to the strains of viruses.  相似文献

MnK-edge X-ray absorption near edge structure (XANES) measurements have been made to study the temperature-dependent lattice effects in the La0.75Ca0.25MnO3 system. The high-resolution XANES spectra recorded with high signal-to-noise ratio have allowed us to study the temperature dependence of the Jahn-Teller splitting indicated directly by the dipole forbidden pre-peaks corresponding to transition in Mn 3d states. The results show splitting of thee g state in its two orbitals (d x2 -y 2 andd 3z 2-r 2. The energy splitting shows anomalous temperature dependence across the giant magnetoresistance transition temperature.  相似文献
